"How did the fire start?" Pei Huaian glanced around the room, sensing it shouldn’t have ignited such a fierce blaze.

Even if a fire did start, how could it not be extinguished? Unless there was sothing within the flas that made it burn even more intensely, like saltpeter and sulfur.

Ah Mo called over a servant boy to ask, to which the boy stuttered, "It, it...it was the Second Prince’s Consort."

"The Second Prince’s Consort?" It was then that Pei Huaian rembered Jiang Zhou, soone he had neglected before.

"Why would she set the room on fire?" If Jiang Zhou was responsible, then she must have been resolved to die.

Moreover, Pei Chengye must have been drugged by her; otherwise, even if Jiang Zhou wanted to drag him down with her, he would have surely fought back fiercely and escaped, instead of waiting to be consud by the fire.

The servant boy’s eyes darted about, and he stamred, "Th-this, I, I really don’t know."

Pei Huaian observed his deanor; it didn’t seem as if he was ignorant but rather as if he was intentionally concealing sothing.

"Speak! What exactly happened?" Pei Huaian commanded sternly.

The servant boy was so frightened that he imdiately knelt and kowtowed, trembling as he explained the whole story.

"After the Second Prince was imprisoned, he was in a very bad mood. One ti, after drinking, he beat the Prince’s Consort, and afterwards, his treatnt of her grew even more severe."

"He even locked the Prince’s Consort in the woodshed, and he would beat her cruelly for even the slightest disobedience."

After the boy finished speaking, he quickly added, "Every word I’ve said is the truth!"

"I understand, you may go now," Pei Huaian said, dismissing the boy with a wave of his hand.

Ah Mo asked, "Master, what should we do now?"

Pei Huaian felt sothing wasn’t right, "First, have soone keep a close watch on the Fourth Prince’s Mansion."

"Yes!"

---

The Imperial Physician was at a loss where to begin with a person so gravely injured.

"Ah, it hurts, I’m dying!"

"You vile wench. I want you to die a terrible death!"

Curses and wails of pain continuously emanated from the room.

With a stern face, Pei Huaian walked in, "There’s no need to curse anymore, she’s already in Hell."

"Ah... you... what are you saying!" Despite his unbearable pain, Pei Chengye still managed to ask after hearing Pei Huaian’s words.

Pei Huaian stepped closer, looking at the person whose features were beyond recognition and sighed, "The woman you despised has perished in the flas."

Before Pei Chengye could respond, the pain overwheld him, causing his fingers to contort as all his muscles seed to clench together. He eventually fainted from the agony.

"How is the Fourth Prince?"

The Imperial Physician wiped the sweat from his forehead and answered, "The situation is very bad for the Fourth Prince. His whole body has been scorched. It will be difficult for him to recover."

Ah Mo suggested at the side, "Master, should we have Doctor Shao take a look?"

The Imperial Physician, hearing this as if it were a lifeline, imdiately agreed, "Doctor Shao’s dical skills are far superior to mine. Perhaps she could have a thod."

"Bring Shao He here."

"Yes," Ah Mo quickly turned and went into the palace.

Having just finished administering acupuncture to the Emperor, Shao He ca out and saw Ah Mo pacing back and forth at the gate.

"Why have you returned alone? Where is your master?"

Ah Mo spoke urgently, "The situation is complicated, and I can’t explain in detail right now. Please, Doctor Shao, follow , and I’ll explain everything on the way."

"Let’s go."

Knowing that sothing serious must have happened for Ah Mo to be so anxious, Shao He hurried.

After getting on the carriage, Ah Mo began to explain, "The Fourth Prince’s Consort set the annex on fire, intending to die together with the Fourth Prince. Unexpectedly, the Fourth Prince miraculously survived but is now unrecognizable from his burns."

"So, you need to save Pei Chengye?"

"Exactly," Ah Mo replied, speeding up the carriage to rush to the Fourth Prince’s Mansion.

Upon arriving at the Fourth Prince’s Mansion, they hurried off the carriage, and Shao He quickened her pace toward the mansion.

"Doctor Shao," the guard saluted respectfully.

Shao He nodded and walked inside, only to see Pei Huaian sitting at the table, staring at the person lying on the bed.

Shao He withdrew her gaze and walked over to him.

"You’re here," Pei Huaian turned and looked at Shao He.

"What’s the situation?" Shao He asked as she walked further inside.

Pei Huaian didn’t reply because he knew her question wasn’t directed at him.

Ah Mo nudged the Imperial Physician, who then quickly stepped forward to answer, "The Fourth Prince’s burns cover his entire body, they are extrely severe, especially since his clothing has stuck to his skin and cannot be removed."

Shao He observed Pei Chengye’s injuries by the bedside closely.

An injury like this posed a huge challenge to any doctor.

"Can he still be treated, looking like this?" Pei Huaian asked as he followed.

"Call Yun Qian over; I need his assistance. Also, close all the doors and windows."

"Ah Mo, fetch Doctor Yun," Pei Huaian commanded, and Ah Mo dashed off.

As ti ticked by, the person on the bed twitched slightly as if showing signs of awakening.

After pondering for a mont, Shao He turned to the Imperial Physician and instructed, "Prepare so warm water and herbs. I need to separate the clothing from the skin first, then disinfect and treat the wounds."

The Imperial Physician imdiately left to gather the necessary items.

As the Imperial Physician returned with the prepared materials, Yun Qian arrived, holding many peculiar items.
