Chapter 555: Chapter 557 I’m Busy

Noble Consort Pin pondered upon hearing the palace maid’s words. She too had heard a bit about The Emperor being suddenly taken ill a few days ago and the urgent decree calling for the Imperial Physicians.

However, she did not know the specifics, and the tight-lipped group at the Imperial dical Bureau simply refused to disclose any information.

“What else have you found out?” Noble Consort Pin’s expression turned solemn in an instant.

The palace maid imdiately bowed her head and answered, “That female doctor is very tight-lipped, unwilling to say anything. These words were hard won by Nubi’s relentless efforts to coax them out.”

Noble Consort Pin imdiately changed her deanor, stood up, and walked forward to help the maid up, speaking gently, “You’ve done well. This ti, you have my gratitude!”

A glint of joy flashed in the eyes of the palace maid as she lowered her head and respectfully replied, “Your Highness is too kind. This servant is rely fulfilling her duties wholeheartedly.”

“That’s enough, it’s getting late. You may leave now,” Noble Consort Pin waved her hand, and the dutiful maid left after performing a curtsey.

Once the palace maid had left, Noble Consort Pin sat back down, her expression turning cold.

The Emperor’s sudden illness, and the fact that the presiding officer of the Imperial dical Bureau and several Imperial Physicians were all summoned, implied that The Emperor’s condition was very serious.

Normally, if The Emperor had health issues, she would certainly be prevented from visiting, but this ti, The Emperor forbade anyone from the imperial harem to visit him.

She had already guessed seven or eight points of the reason behind this; it was possible that The Emperor was truly in critical condition, and there was a high probability that he had already passed away.

If the Emperor were to pass away and a new sovereign ascended to the throne, it would no doubt be a disaster for her.

Although The Emperor did not love her, he never mistreated her. She received plenty of rewards annually and never forgot how she obtained her status.

Now, with The Emperor suddenly gravely ill and unconscious, she was in a state of panic, unsure of what to do next.

“Your Highness…” A worried voice ca from the palace maid outside.

Noble Consort Pin was jolted back to reality. She composed herself before stepping out slowly to see the maid anxiously holding a bowl of dicine outside her sleeping quarters.

“Your Highness, it’s ti for your dicine.”

“Mm,” Noble Consort Pin took the dicine, responded softly, and turned to walk inside her chamber. After finishing the decoction, she placed down the empty bowl and instructed, “You may go and rest.”

“Yes.” The maid curtsied and left. Noble Consort Pin watched her retreating figure and sank into contemplation. After a mont, she stood and walked to the window, peering through the slit to observe the outside.

The night grew deeper, and moonlight shone upon the palace buildings, rendering the scenery exceptionally serene and tranquil.

Noble Consort Pin gazed at the scenery outside, her brows furrowing into a knot. It seed she had to start preparing as soon as possible.

The next morning, as daybreak was just dawning, Shao He was woken up by the sound of knocking.

Groggy and bleary-eyed, Shao He rose up sluggishly and draped on her clothes, making her way to the door at a leisurely pace.

“Who is it?” she muttered as she walked.

Qingxia knew her routine and would never co to disturb her sweet dreams this early.

Upon opening the door and seeing the palace maid standing outside, Shao He’s sleepiness vanished.

“What are you doing here? I made myself clear yesterday. If you have anything, you should go to The Emperor, not . It’s no use finding ,” Shao He didn’t wait for the maid to speak and said all that needed to be said.

The palace maid heard this, simply offered a faint smile, and then said, “My mission this ti is not ant to cause trouble for you, miss. My mistress would like to invite you over for a talk.”

Noticing the smile at the corner of the maid’s mouth, Shao He felt this woman seed different from yesterday, “Are you saying Noble Consort Pin wants to see ?”

“Yes, miss, please,” the palace maid quickly made a welcoming gesture.

Shao He, crossing her arms, looked at her, “Go back and tell your mistress that I need to take care of The Emperor and cannot afford to visit her for a chat.”

“Miss needn’t worry, my mistress rely wishes to have a private chat with you, no other intention,” the palace maid still maintained her smile.

Shao He raised an eyebrow, “Regardless of your mistress’s intentions, I just want to say I’m busy.”

After speaking, Shao He slamd the door shut and returned to her bed to continue sleeping soundly.

“Oh, miss, please open the door…”

The calling from outside went on for a while, but Shao He continued to sleep undisturbed.

The palace maid, after shouting for a long ti to no avail, finally sighed in resignation and left.

“Your Highness, I have failed,” the maid reported with her head bowed before Noble Consort Pin.

Noble Consort Pin’s face was calm, her eyebrows unmoved as if she had anticipated this outco.

“What was her reply?” Her voice was flat.

“She said she had to look after The Emperor and had no ti to bother with Your Highness,” the maid responded.

“Let it be, you may leave now,” Noble Consort Pin waved her hand, signaling her to go.

“This female doctor is too arrogant, not putting Your Highness in her eyes at all,” the palace maid attempted to console.

“She is now The Emperor’s favorite and the Prospective Crown Princess. It’s natural for her to have high expectations,” Noble Consort Pin signaled again for her to leave.

The dutiful maid could only perform a respectful curtsy and depart.

At noon, the cool air finally ward slightly.

As Shao He had just finished delivering dicine and was exiting the Imperial Study Room, she saw Qing Shan waiting anxiously outside.

“Miss, young master is missing,” exclaid Qing Shan.

“What? How could Xiao Linzhang go missing?” Shao He was alard.

In a rush, Qing Shan explained the whole scenario: he had taken the young master out to play, and the boy suddenly ran behind the rockery to fetch a ball. When Qing Shan followed, he found that the young master was nowhere to be seen, leaving only the ball on the ground.
