Chapter 536: Chapter 538 Being Calculated

The Emperor, upon learning that Pei Jingyi had missed the morning court session, erupted in anger and cursed fiercely, while all the ministers remained silent.

Suddenly, a minister stepped forward and said, “Your Majesty, while strolling with my wife yesterday, I happened to see the Fourth Prince entering a brothel, and furthermore, and furthermore…”

“Continue!”

“Furthermore, it is said that he was making outrageous claims at the brothel, declaring that the position of Crown Prince is rightfully his.”

“How dare he!”

The Emperor slamd his hand on the desk, so angry he began to cough violently, his head buzzing.

“Ridiculous fool, he truly is rebelling against the heavens!” the Emperor roared, sweeping all the morials from the desk onto the floor.

Everyone was as silent as if frozen, not even daring to breathe too loudly for fear of provoking the Emperor and bringing disaster upon themselves.

“Father, please calm your anger; your health is of utmost importance.” Pei Huaian was the first to speak.

The other ministers and princes echoed, “Your Majesty, please calm your anger.”

“He dares to speak nonsense out there, tarnishing the royal family’s reputation. Follow my orders and bring that unfilial son back to .”

“Yes.”

Before long, Pei Jingyi was brought to the Imperial Study Room, dressed in a purple robe, with a jade crown on his head, looking exceptionally handso and elegant as if a noble son had walked out of a painting.

Pei Jingyi’s face was filled with panic, not having anticipated that his unrestrained behavior from the previous night would lead to this, much less that his father would send soone to the brothel to apprehend him.

“Unfilial son, kneel before ,” ordered the Emperor furiously.

“Father, your son… your son knows his mistake.”

“Humph, you still realize you have done sothing foolish?”

“Yes, it was all my fault. I was confused for a mont, drank a few extra cups, and then decided to rest at the brothel. I didn’t expect to oversleep.”

“What a convenient excuse.”

“No, Father. Your son speaks nothing but the truth. Please discern the facts.”

Ice-cold anger flashed in the Emperor’s eyes as he approached Pei Jingyi step by step.

“You truly do not know how to repent.”

Pei Jingyi looked up in surprise, not understanding the aning behind his father’s words.

“I have told you before, the position of Crown Prince is not sothing you can covet. Be content as the Fourth Prince, and be a leisurely Prince in the future, but you just have to cling to what doesn’t belong to you!”

“Your son has no desire whatsoever for the Crown Prince’s position, I beseech you to see the truth, Father.”

Pei Jingyi hurriedly explained, completely taken aback that his father would conclude he coveted the Crown Prince’s position just because of a few jars of wine—it was utterly absurd.

“I do not care whether you covet the position of the Crown Prince or not, but what I do know is that you have beco a laughingstock throughout the Great Yao Kingdom.”

“Father—”

Just as Pei Jingyi tried to explain, he was interrupted by the Emperor.

“I am already being rciful by not punishing you today! You had better watch yourself!”

“Father, your son has been wronged; Father, your son did not do it on purpose,” Pei Jingyi cried bitterly.

“Wronged? I think not. Get out,” said the Emperor coldly.

Pei Jingyi dared not provoke the Emperor any further, lest he be punished, and could only plan to find another opportunity to win his favor in the future.

On the way back, the more Pei Jingyi thought about it, the more sothing seed amiss—he had never slept so soundly and would never forget to attend the morning court.

Suddenly, his eyes widened in shock, he took out the unfinished dicine pill from his bosom and said to his guard, “To the pharmacy.”

After taking the dicine in for inquiry and coming back out, Pei Jingyi’s eyes were filled with a raging fire.

“Wretched woman!”

He rushed onto the carriage, seething, “To the brothel.”

“My lord, this is probably…”

“Did you not hear what this prince said? Say one more word, and I’ll take your life!” Pei Jingyi had lost so control at this point, thinking of what the pharmacy shopkeeper had told him, clutching the dicine pill tightly in his hand.

He had thought it was so beneficial substance, but it turned out to be sothing that would claim his life, not only imnsely damaging to his body but also gradually weakening him in bed.

“Yes!” The guard, frightened, imdiately changed direction and headed toward the brothel.

In the brothel, the old procuress ca up to him with a smile on her face, “Oh, the Fourth Prince graces us with his presence; which girl would you like today to accompany you?”

Pei Jingyi entered with a gloomy face, waving his sleeve, “Where is the Oiran? I want to see her.”

The procuress wore a puzzled expression, “The Oiran is still resting; the Fourth Prince worked her over the whole night, who can withstand that? Perhaps…”

“Enough with the nonsense, where is she?” Pei Jingyi stared at her fiercely.

The procuress trembled with fear and quickly led him over.

As the door was pushed open, the Oiran was preparing her makeup in front of a copper mirror, rising to greet the visitor.

“Why has Your Highness co?”

With a mix of resistance and invitation, the Oiran approached Pei Jingyi provocatively, seductively coming closer and reaching out to touch his chest.

Pei Jingyi shoved her away, his gaze ferocious, “Speak! What did you give to eat?”

The Oiran turned pale with fright, shaking her head repeatedly, “I don’t understand what the Fourth Prince is saying. What have I given you to eat?”

Pei Jingyi took out a dicine bottle from his bosom and threw it at her.

“You still dare to play innocent here? I have already asked the pharmacist; this is not any sort of body-strengthening dicine!”

“I… I truly did not know,” she denied.

“Not willing to talk?”

“Your Highness, please spare my life.”

Pei Jingyi kicked over a chair and demanded, “Speak!”

The Oiran was so frightened that she trembled and finally confessed the truth, “Indeed, I gave Your Highness aphrodisiacs.”

Slap—

“Vile woman, how dare you deceive ?” Pei Jingyi slapped her across the face, “I’ll kill you!”
