Chapter 472: Chapter 474: The Burned Child
“How troubleso, I almost fell into the hands of a beast,” Ah Er gasped, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.
He slowly rose to his feet, heading towards the cave to investigate where those people were hiding.
The temperature inside the cave was very low, and Ah Er endured the cold as he searched carefully.
Seeing the person leave, the several individuals hidden in the secret chamber heaved a sigh of relief. Pei Huaian turned and bowed, “Thank you, miss, for saving our lives.”
“My na is Yun Duoduo, what’s yours?” Yun Duoduo asked with an innocent smile on her face.
“I am Pei Huaian.”
“Pei Huaian? What a nice na,” Yun Duoduo’s smile brightened, resembling a carefree child.
“Why are you here alone, miss? Do you know about the happenings in Naless Village?”
“My mother told to stay here and not go anywhere. What is Naless Village? Can I go with you?” Yun Duoduo asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
She had never left this place before, although she had attempted to a few tis and always got caught and brought back.
“No!” Pei Huaian flatly refused.
He guessed that the girl’s mother must know what had happened in Naless Village, which is why she was forbidden from going out.
Yun Duoduo’s head drooped in disappointnt.
“Miss…”
Pei Huaian was about to console her when suddenly he felt dizzy, and he collapsed to the ground.
In his faint state, he vaguely saw a few faces filled with urgency, unable to utter a single word.
In the Capital City, Shao He sat in the backyard looking anxious, her tea having gone cold.
Qingxia approached, “Miss, let get you a new pot of hot tea.”
“Yes,” Shao He nodded slightly.
Her gaze rested outside the window, shadowed by deep concern.
“Don’t worry, miss. The prince has his own blessed fortune; nothing will happen to him,” Qingxia consoled.
“Hopefully,” Shao He replied with a bitter smile.
Just then, Qingxia, holding a cup of tea, walked over to her, “Miss, drink so tea to warm your stomach.”
Shao He took the cup and took a small sip, smiling faintly, “Yes, it really does warm quite a bit.”
While they were speaking, a sharp cry suddenly ca from outside, shaking them both.
“Miss, you rest. I’ll go check what happened,” Qingxia said, placing down the tray and hurrying to the front hall.
There, she saw a woman holding a child, wailing on the ground, the child barely clinging to life.
“Save my child, can anyone save my child!”
“Please, save him!”
Qingxia approached and asked, “What happened to the child?”
“Fire, a big fire, he was burned…” the woman said incomprehensibly, unable to complete her sentence.
Shao He also rushed over, and seeing the boy’s severe burns, she quickly had the woman take him to the surgery room.
“You wait outside.”
“But…”
“If you want him treated, wait outside; if not, leave imdiately with him.”
Shao He did not want to waste words; the child’s condition was critical, and he needed imdiate examination and treatnt.
“Doctor, please save him, he is the only blood my husband left ,” the woman pleaded with a cry.
“Okay.”
Leaving the room in tears, the woman did as instructed while Shao He shut the door.
Inside the room, Shao He took out a set of tools and gauze and began sterilizing the child’s burnt areas.
Upon hearing the news, Yun Qian rushed over to assist, noticing her worried expression, he asked, “Is it difficult to manage?”
“The child’s burns are extrely severe; if not handled properly, they could lead to infection,” Shao He replied with a furrowed brow, now they could only perform skin grafting.
“What should we do now?” Never having encountered such a situation, Yun Qian felt unsure about how to proceed without hurting the child further.
“Fetch the IV catheter. He must imdiately replenish fluids to maintain venous circulation and avoid shock from the burns,” she instructed.
“Okay, I’ll get it right now.” Yun Qian was now familiar with these terms and quickly fetched the IV catheter to administer to the child.
“Inject Ampicillin Sodium Sulbactam Sodium, inject Benzylpenicillin Sodium, and others to prevent local infection and worsen the burn symptoms,” Shao He stated without looking up.
“I will fetch them now.”
After a flurry of activity, the child finally steadied his breathing, but he began to cry out in pain.
Yun Qian looked at the seven-year-old boy, feeling deeply moved, wondering if he would be ruined if he remained this way forever.
“Ask the family if they agree to skin grafting. Simply put, it ans moving healthy skin to the burned areas,” Shao He explained briefly while administering the IV and injections.
“Okay.”
Hearing Yun Qian ntion unfamiliar terms, the woman looked confused, “What, what is skin grafting, and what is an implant?”
She didn’t understand at all; she just wanted her child to recover. If not, wouldn’t her child’s life be ruined by her hands?
