Chapter 37: Chapter 38 Let Think About It

“Is this procedure sowhat dangerous? Exactly how is the treatnt conducted?” Pei Huaian believed in her dical skills, but such a thod was indeed hard to accept.

“To attach the prosthetic legs, I must first amputate his legs, then find a pair of manufactured prosthetic legs to install on his amputated limbs. Once fitted, he will be able to function like a normal person.”

Pei Huaian thought for a mont and said, “Allow to think it over.”

This matter was of great importance; he needed to be more cautious.

Shao He knew that this thod would be hard to accept here, so she didn’t insist.

“Congratulations, I see your frostbite ointnt is selling well.”

Pei Huaian saw many people holding frostbite ointnt as they ca out of the dical hall and guessed that it must be selling well.

“Thank you.”

Shao He, realizing that the batch of frostbite ointnt she had ordered was ready, led him to the backyard, opened a bottle of the ointnt, and explained how to use it for the best effect.

Pei Huaian moved closer to Shao He, slling the faint fragrance emanating from her, and could not help but beco distracted, staring at her in a daze.

Shao He talked for a long while, then turned her head to see him spacing out and waved her hand in front of his eyes, “Did you rember what I said?”

“Hmm, I rembered.” Pei Huaian quickly regained his senses, then called Ah Mo to move the items away.

Shao He stretched, feeling so discomfort in her back lately, possibly because she hadn’t properly observed the confinent period after giving birth to Xiao Linzhang.

Even though she had taken many dicines to replenish her health, it was useless. The month that should have been spent on recuperation had been nothing but grueling.

Pei Huaian glanced at the locked room door and asked quietly, “How has Xiao Linzhang been lately? Any crying?”

“No, Xiao Linzhang isn’t like other kids who keep crying; he just sleeps after eating, and even when he wakes up, he rarely cries.”

Shao He said this as she walked toward the room.

The mont the door opened, a wave of warm air hit them. Compared to the cold outside, the room was much warr.

In the inner room, Xiao Linzhang had already awoken, lying in bed, gazing at the canopy above him.

His small hand was by his mouth, making cooing sounds.

Shao He walked over, picked him up, calling softly, “Xiao Linzhang.”

The little one seed to recognize his na and smiled broadly at Shao He.

As Pei Huaian watched his chubby little hand, he couldn’t resist reaching out to touch it, but Xiao Linzhang grabbed hold and wouldn’t let go.

Shao He could only place the child in his arms, “Xiao Linzhang seldom warms up to others; you are the second one.”

“The first one was Yun Qian, right?” Pei Huaian knew Yun Qian spent more ti with Xiao Linzhang and truly loved him, but still, he felt sowhat uncomfortable.

“Yes, but Xiao Linzhang seems to cling to you more. Every ti he won’t stop crying, seeing you always makes him laugh.”

Perhaps the little guy also knew who kept him fed; after all, who cries over the hand that feeds them?

“Also, thank you for the cow’s milk you’ve been sending. Xiao Linzhang’s body has gotten a lot stronger and he has gained so weight.”

Shao He felt lucky to have t Yun Qian and the man before her. Without them, it would have been difficult for her to survive here with the child.

“Don’t ntion it. If it weren’t for you, there would be no hope for my leg, and I really do have a connection with this child. This little favor is nothing.”

Pei Huaian looked at Xiao Linzhang, whose eyes were fixed on him unblinkingly, and smiled, “He has indeed gained a bit of weight; he’s a fortunate child with more blessings to co.”

Shao He watched the child and sighed, “Fortune or not doesn’t matter. I just hope he can grow up safely. I don’t have any other hopes.”

She would always rember the first ti she saw her child, Xiao Linzhang covered in blood and his feeble breathing had made her think he wouldn’t survive.

Pei Huaian suddenly thought of the sll of dicine in the dical hall, his handso brows slightly furrowed, then he looked at Shao He.

“Linzhang is still young, and the dicinal sll of Anji Hall is too strong, which could affect the child. Are you considering moving sowhere else?”

This question was sowhat presumptuous, but Pei Huaian still wanted to probe, and he genuinely had the child’s well-being in mind, nothing more.

Shao He didn’t answer imdiately. She didn’t want to stay here causing trouble for Yun Qian, having him help care for the child each ti; but she didn’t have much money, not even enough for a hostel, let alone renting a house, but she didn’t voice this.

“I think staying here is quite convenient. And the child won’t be affected in the backyard.”

Pei Huaian saw her difficulty and didn’t press further.
