Chapter 314: Chapter 315: Killing Servants as a Warning to Others Chapter 314: Chapter 315: Killing Servants as a Warning to Others Pei Huaian looked down at him, his expression calm as still water.

However, Liu Gui felt as though a weight of a thousand jins was pressing down from the sky, almost suffocating him.

At last, Pei Huaian spoke, “Ah Mo, drag him down and execute him by beheading to serve as a warning to others!”

“Yes!”

Ah Mo took the order and escorted Liu Gui away.

Liu Gui struggled fiercely, but Ah Mo’s grip was too strong; no matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t move at all.

He was panic-stricken and desperate, continuously begging for rcy.

Yet, the response he received was Ah Mo’s cold gaze.

“Your Highness, I am truly wronged, I beg for your understanding!”

Pei Huaian indifferently glanced at him, “I would rather wrongfully slay you than let you go unpunished.”

Liu Gui’s pupils constricted, a look of horror appearing in his eyes, as he seed to realize what his fate would be.

Just as he was about to be dragged away, Pei Chengye suddenly passed by and, upon hearing the cries from inside, entered to inquire, “What are you doing, Fifth Brother? Do you not wish Father to rest properly, with such noise and commotion? What is the proper conduct here?”

“Your Highness, I have done nothing wrong, please discern the truth,” Liu Gui said, seeing the newcor. He imdiately broke free from Ah Mo and crawled to Pei Huaian’s feet, continuously kowtowing on the ground.

Even as blood seeped from his forehead, he showed no sign of stopping.

Pei Chengye pretended not to know what the servant had done and accused, “Isn’t Fifth Brother being too harsh on the servant?”

“What great misdeed has this servant committed that you want to have him beheaded?”

Upon hearing this, Pei Huaian’s gaze turned sharply towards him. Already irate, he grew even angrier, “Second Imperial Brother criticizes for being harsh on my servants without knowing anything. You defend him so—could soone who is unaware think he belongs to the Second Prince’s Mansion? Or could it be that he is an Imperial Brother, a spy you’ve planted in my house?”

“How could that be? I would never do such a thing. Fifth Brother, you worry too much,” Pei Chengye imdiately retorted.

“If that’s the case, Second Imperial Brother had best not ddle in the affairs of my house.”

Pei Chengye was left speechless by the rebuke and also realized that the man could not be saved, regretting inside that the spy he had finally managed to place had been destroyed so easily.

Looking at the man kneeling there, bloodied forehead and all, he couldn’t help but say, “I rely wanted to remind Fifth Brother that our Father is seriously ill at the mont, not in good health; it is not suitable to shed blood now.”

“Oh? Not suitable to shed blood?”

Shao He sneered before saying, “I have a dicine that can cause soone to be beaten to death alive, with their pain magnified, yet without shedding a drop of blood.”

He took a dicine bottle out of his bosom and handed it to the person beside him.

Pei Huaian unhesitatingly caught it and tossed it to Ah Mo, “Feed him this, and proceed with the execution.”

“Yes.”

Ah Mo, holding the porcelain bottle, stepped towards Liu Gui, who backed away in terror, trembling uncontrollably, yet his gaze desperately sought Pei Chengye.

“Too much evil begets a downfall. Since you dared to commit such acts, you must bear the corresponding consequences,” Shao He said, though his words were ant for Liu Gui, his gaze remained firmly on Pei Chengye.

Pei Huaian, hearing his ambiguous words, knew he was insinuating sothing about himself, but his gaze turned to the spy at his side, and noticing his expression, had a sudden shock of realization.

“Since this is a matter within Fifth Brother’s house, I, as the Imperial Brother, have no place to intervene, I take my leave.” Pei Chengye did not want to expose himself for a spy, especially with their Father critically ill; he couldn’t afford to cause any trouble at this ti.

Pei Huaian. Seeing the hastily departing figure, imdiately instructed Ah Mo, “After the execution, hang him in the courtyard for a quarter of an hour for all to see, to make it clear who their master is, so they do not do what they shouldn’t.”

“I understand,” Ah Mo said, bowing in acknowledgnt.

Liu Gui wanted to resist, but he was no match for Ah Mo and was forced to swallow the dicine pill, feeling intense pain coursing through his body.

Ah Mo dragged the man away, had the guards hold him down, and personally executed the punishnt. As promised, there wasn’t a drop of blood, but the look of agony on the man’s face was extre, his hands digging into the ground.

The scene was unbearably cruel to watch, and the servants of the house all trembled, closing their eyes.

After taking care of everything, Ah Mo returned to report.

Pei Huaian heard the report and waved him away, then turned to enter the room with the child and Shao He.

In the room, just with the three of them, the first thing Pei Huaian said was, “I’m sorry, Shao He, because of the Father’s injury and heartache, I forgot about the child’s matter.”

“It was my negligence, and it led to the child nearly being hard; for that, I am responsible.”

Pei Huaian didn’t know whether she would be angry, nor if she would want to leave this place, filling his heart with anxious apprehension.

Shao He saw his cautious expression, raised her hand to touch Xiao Linzhang’s cheek, and said, “You are not to bla for this incident, I am grateful that you arranged tight protection for the child, but… ”

“But what?” Pei Huaian asked nervously.

Shao He pursed her lips and with a serious expression, said, “But after this exposure, the child’s identity will be more suspect, and those who seek to investigate will likely increase.”

That was her greatest worry.
