Chapter 220: Chapter 221 Insomnia as an Excuse Chapter 220: Chapter 221 Insomnia as an Excuse Pei Huaian licked his slightly dry lips, not really caring about the paternity test, but he had not seen Shao He for several days and missed him dearly.

“Has Chu Yu gone to Anji Hall to trouble Shao He these past few days?”

ntioning this, Ah Mo held back a smile and said, “Nowadays, where does Marquis Chu have the ti to bother Doctor Shao when he can’t even settle his own ss, especially after he was chastised by the Second Prince just yesterday.”

“Heh, that’s reaping what one sows.”

Ah Mo asked again, “And about Doctor Shao…”

“Find an excuse to invite Doctor Shao and the child here, but don’t use the last excuse, find a new one.”

After saying this, Pei Huaian walked into the house.

Ah Mo was left alone in the wind, disheveled, pondering over what excuse he could possibly find.

As he turned around and walked, deep in thought, he didn’t notice the large tree in front of him and “bang”, he walked right into it. The green leaves trembled and began to fall, and he suddenly felt darkness before his eyes.

This gave him a good excuse, and he hurriedly ran to the neighboring courtyard, raising his hand to knock on the courtyard door.

Qingxia soon opened the door and on seeing Ah Mo, asked again, “It’s you again?”

“Where’s your miss?”

Qingxia pointed inside, but just then saw Shao He walking by with a child.

“What’s going on?” Shao He asked.

Ah Mo, looking worried, explained, “Ever since our master was confined, he has been suffering from insomnia. He slept a bit better the other day with the young master’s company. Could Doctor Shao possibly bring the child over to see him?”

“Okay.” Shao He agreed without hesitation or doubt, aware of Pei Huaian’s affection for her and the child and confident that he would not harm them.

Pei Huaian, lying in bed, heard footsteps outside and imdiately closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep.

The door was pushed open, Shao He walked around the screen to the back, and seeing the person on the bed covered by blankets, walked over and sat down.

She directly lifted the blankets and placed the child inside, then raised her hand to check his pulse.

Pei Huaian pretended to look tired as he looked at Shao He, and he reached out to hug Xiao Linzhang to the inside of the bed, worried that he might accidentally fall off.

“You’re suffering from insomnia?” Shao He asked after a mont, her expression puzzled.

“Yes, I’ve been having trouble falling asleep.”

“But your pulse doesn’t show any signs of insomnia?” Shao He narrowed her eyes as she looked at him again.

Pei Huaian quickly explained, “Because of the insomnia, I have recently taken a lot of sedatives, but it’s not good for the body in the long run, which might be why you didn’t diagnose it.”

Shao He nodded upon hearing this; such a possibility was indeed feasible. If he had really taken sedatives, it could indeed affect her diagnosis.

Pei Huaian happily teased Xiao Linzhang, continually teaching him to speak and playing with him while the child’s laughter spread beyond the room.

Ah Mo, hearing the laughter inside, couldn’t help but slightly curl up the corners of his mouth, thinking how wonderful it would be if his master could always remain this happy.

Xiao Linzhang, after playing awhile, began to fret. Pei Huaian realized he might be hungry and imdiately had so sheep milk heated and fed it to him sip by sip.

The well-fed little fellow lay in bed and soon fell asleep.

“Such carefree age is truly wonderful, nothing to worry about, just needing to eat and drink enough,” Pei Huaian, covering Xiao Linzhang with a blanket, remarked with so emotion.

“Indeed, he is at an innocent age now, but there will co a day when he grows up and can’t remain forever in childhood,” guessed Shao He, possibly recalling sothing, and said with a smile.

Pei Huaian’s intense gaze fell on her, his eyes filled with too many unspoken emotions.

Shao He instantly felt her cheeks heat up, her heart pounding intensely.

“Didn’t you say you’ve been having so insomnia? I just rembered there’s a type of massage that might help with sleep. Would you like to try it?”

“Yes, please.”

As Pei Huaian was about to get out of bed, Shao He suddenly said, “You need to take off your clothes for it to work.”

“What?”

The already rising Pei Huaian almost fell off the bed at her words.

“This…”

Pei Huaian hesitated for a mont, not because he feared that Shao He might harm him, but because he was worried about appearing unseemly.

“What’s there to worry about? I just see you as my patient. In the eyes of a doctor, there is no distinction between n and won,” Shao He tried to appear indifferent, though she felt sowhat flustered inside.

Hearing her say this, Pei Huaian couldn’t help feeling a bit bitter and blurted out, “Do you often give people massages like this?”

This made him feel extrely uncomfortable inside; it would be fine if it were won, but if it were n…

“I’ve never done it before, but who knows about the future.” Shao He considered the idea of giving massages, but in this era, it might et with resistance and potentially lead to gossip.

The complications might be nurous, so she had not decided yet.

Relieved by what she said, Pei Huaian was undecided; he was about to say that massaging the head could also work and also involve hair removal.

Before she could even speak, Pei Huaian readily agreed, “Okay.”

Saying this, he began to unbutton his shirt, revealing his robust chest and abdominal muscles.
