Chapter 21: Chapter 21 What’s going on?
The guard was just about to push him inside when he saw his master’s gaze and imdiately let go, standing guard outside the door.
Shao He lit the candle, and the room instantly brightened up. Only then did she notice that sothing seed off about this man, as there was a strong sll of blood on him.
“You are injured.”
These words were not a question, but a statent.
“Could you bandage ?” Pei Huaian asked weakly.
“Sure.” Shao He nodded, turned around to take the golden sore dicine from the cabinet, and found so gauze to hand to him.
“Wait a mont.”
After finishing speaking, she went to the kitchen to fetch so hot water, preparing to clean his wound, and then took so disinfectant from a ntal space.
Pei Huaian’s gaze fell on those pale, delicate hands, a trace of darkness flickered in his eyes, but when he lifted his face, it had returned to a calm and unrippled expression.
“Take off your clothes.” Shao He was preparing, giving orders to the neatly dressed man.
Pei Huaian slowly lifted his arm, an action that seed to take a great deal of effort.
Unable to stand watching, Shao He went over, unfastened his belt, peeled back his clothes, and gazed at the pale skin, the fine collarbone, her eyes inadvertently drifting downward.
Looking at the eight-pack abs on his abdon, she couldn’t help but marvel that he truly was a beautiful man, though she wondered what his face looked like.
“Have you looked enough?” Pei Huaian caught her infatuated gaze, understanding for the first ti the use of having a good body.
Shao He concealed the expression in her eyes, checked his wounds, discovered they were sword cuts, wiped away the blood around, sprinkled golden sore dicine on the wounds, and wrapped them with bandages.
During the close contact, she suddenly slled a faint scent of sandalwood on him, which blurred her mories of the original host. That night she was drugged and shared intimacy with a man, it seed to be this scent too.
Rembering that the man had a birthmark on his waist, she was about to stretch out her hand to check his waist for it when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
“I can take care of the rest myself,” Pei Huaian said, his heartbeat accelerating as he restrained himself, sowhat regretting his folly in wanting to et her instead of seeking the mansion doctor to dress the wound.
Shao He withdrew her hand. Perhaps she was overthinking. How could a man in a wheelchair share a mont of passion with her? Even if he desired, he was powerless.
“Thank you.” Pei Huaian finished dressing, breathing a sigh of relief.
Shao He nodded, “It’s nothing, just lending a hand.”
After speaking, Shao He turned around and left.
“Miss Shao.”
She halted as a call ca from behind her, turning her head to look at him.
Each ti she saw those deep eyes, she feared she would fall into them.
“It must be very hard for you, raising a child alone, right?”
His tone was full of concern and worry.
“Hmm?” Shao He blinked, puzzled,
Pei Huaian lowered his gaze to hide the emotion in his eyes, and when he looked up again, his expression was placid,
“Never mind, just asking,” Pei Huaian pursed his lips, a fleeting complex look crossing his eyes.
As morning light stread into the room, Shao He woke up to find Pei Huaian had vanished.
She did not mind, freshened up, and was ready to continue seeing patients.
Suddenly, the sound of gongs and drums ca from outside, drawing many patients out to see the commotion. Shao He also got up and followed them.
Outside, the sound of gongs and drums filled the air, firecrackers were popping, and two n were carrying a plaque towards them, followed by Lady Jhiang and Jhiang Yijia.
All along the way, many people turned to look.
What was going on?
Shao He frowned and looked over, recognizing the followers as Lady Jhiang and her daughter.
“Doctor Shao.” Lady Jhiang hurried over with her daughter.
