Shao He frowned deeply upon hearing this. Jhiang Yijia was in no condition to have a second child now, and she had already warned Fang Jue about this earlier on.
Just as she was about to respond, Fang Jue happened to walk into the front hall and overheard his mother’s question, intervening imdiately, “I don’t plan to have the next child for the ti being; we’ll discuss it when the baby is older.”
This statent, no doubt, was a slap to Lady Fang’s face, leaving her visibly embarrassed.
Fang Jue approached Shao He and bowed, “My apologies.”

Fang Jue felt deeply guilty, thinking that his failure to protect Shao He’s child had led to this series of events.
