Chapter 200: Chapter 201: Concerns Chapter 200: Chapter 201: Concerns Shao He, frazzled and in need of a breather, happened to hear the shouting outside the door.

The familiar voice raised a bad premonition in her heart. She lifted her foot and hurried toward the gate. After opening the room door, she saw the anxious-faced Ah Mo and asked, “Why are you here so late?”

“Doctor Shao, the master has been punished severely this ti, not only confined to his quarters for three months but also sentenced to kneel. Just now, his leg started hurting again, and he wouldn’t let tell anyone. I couldn’t bear to see the master in such pain, so I ca to find you specifically, hoping Doctor Shao could take a look at the master’s… leg.”

Ah Mo nearly let slip at the last sentence but managed to steer the conversation back just in ti.

Upon hearing this, Shao He imdiately knew sothing must have happened. She hastily instructed the nanny to take good care of the child and grabbed her dicine box before quickly following Ah Mo.

When Shao He arrived, she saw Pei Huaian sitting silently at the bedside, head bowed.

“Pei Huaian!”

Startled by the sound of soone calling his na, Pei Huaian turned his head imdiately, only to see Shao He, who had hurried over.

Xiao Ran’s eyes brightened montarily before dimming again. “Why have you co?”

Seeing his expression, Shao He guessed sothing was wrong and didn’t bother to ask why Pei Huaian was confined here. She went straight to examining his leg.

After checking, she found that his leg showed no signs of injury; there wasn’t even a hint of swelling at the knee, which ant he hadn’t been made to kneel at all.

Pei Huaian, knowing she was a doctor, saw the skepticism in her eyes and defensively said, “It’s all internal injuries.”

“Oh?” Shao He gave him a aningful glance.

Just when Pei Huaian thought his ruse had failed, he heard her say softly, “Thank you.”

Though it was only two words, Pei Huaian was sure he hadn’t misheard and looked at her in surprise.

Shao He didn’t expose him because she knew that even if The Emperor hadn’t ordered him to kneel, he must have ted out so punishnt.

“What exactly is your punishnt?”

“Nothing more than being confined for three months,” Pei Huaian replied, not considering it much of a punishnt.

Shao He saw the smile on his face and looked down, fully aware that being confined ant a temporary loss of the right to attend court sessions.

Those who used to be friendly with him would certainly distance themselves, and they would have to live in fear. She did not want to see this outco, and it deepened the guilt in her heart.

“You need not feel guilty. Being confined is just the right opportunity for to rest for a few days. It’s just a bit too boring. If only soone could co to see often.”

His words were clearly more than they seed, and Shao He instantly understood his aning. Before she could respond, Ah Mo rushed in with a panicked report, “Master, Princess Ninghe has burst in. The guards outside didn’t dare to stop her.”

Shao He curled the corner of her mouth aningfully at Pei Huaian and patted his shoulder, saying, “I didn’t expect so many people were concerned about visiting the Fifth Prince.”

“I…”

Before Pei Huaian could finish speaking, Shao He had already quickly hidden behind the screen.

She didn’t want to be discovered by Princess Ninghe. It was wiser to stay hidden in such a situation.

And just as she had taken cover, Xia Zhaohe walked in, taking a seat next to Pei Huaian without any pretense and asked with concern, “Are you alright? Did The Emperor punish you?”

“I’m fine,” Pei Huaian said, rising and walking towards the door.

His aloof behavior made Xia Zhaohe’s expression turn slightly embarrassed, but instead of backing down, she complained, “Why does The Emperor confine you to this place?”

Pei Huaian noticed her disdainful look and promptly replied, “If Princess Ninghe finds this place unsuitable, you may leave right now.”

“How can you chase away, Brother An? I ca especially to see you,” Xia Zhaohe pouted.

“Since the Commandery Princess has seen , you may leave,” Pei Huaian urged her to leave quickly.

He had barely managed to have Shao He visit, hoping to deepen their relationship, but now it felt like the ti was wasted.

Xia Zhaohe felt very wronged upon hearing his words. She couldn’t understand why Brother An disliked her so much.

“It’s all because of that female doctor bringing you trouble, she’s simply a jinx. Who doesn’t know she used to be the Lady of the Marquis of Pingnan, yet the child isn’t even Chu Yu’s?”

Xia Zhaohe already looked down on Shao He, and now, hearing rumors of her promiscuity and that she was the reason An was confined, filled her with even more hatred.

“I really don’t understand how she can be such a flirt. Such a woman should be drowned in a pig cage for being so shaless. I don’t even know whose child that is, and who the adulterer could be.”

Xia Zhaohe ranted on, completely unaware of the person with a darkening complexion.

Getting carried away, she approached Pei Huaian with a smile and asked, “Brother An, who do you think she’s been fooling around with?”

Shao He, eavesdropping from behind the screen, was fuming, her hand clenched into a fist at her side as she silently thought, “I’d like to know which bastard it is, being so irresponsible!”

Pei Huaian, barely holding back his anger, finally couldn’t restrain himself any longer from rebuking sharply, “It would be wise for Princess Ninghe to watch her words. It’s not for you to judge what kind of person Doctor Shao is.”

This sudden outburst startled Xia Zhaohe, who took a long ti to co back to her senses.
