Shao He was alone in the courtyard now, staring blankly at the neighboring yard as Qing Shan forcibly dragged Qingxia away.
She knew that her mistress needed peace and quiet at the mont; Qingxia’s constant chatter would only be annoying.
Just as Shao He sighed and turned to go back inside, the door sounded again.
Qing Shan, dragging Qingxia behind her, opened the door and paused slightly upon seeing who was on the other side.

Before she could finish, Pei Huaian looked inside and then asked, “Has your Miss gone to sleep yet?”
Qing Shan had not even opened her mouth to reply when Qingxia imdiately responded, “No, no, Miss hasn’t slept. She has been standing under the large tree, staring off into the next courtyard lost in thought.”
“Qingxia, stop spouting nonsense,” Qing Shan scolded sharply.
Qingxia stuck out her tongue and, seeing the stern look on her sister’s face, dared not speak out of turn again.
“Who’s outside?” Shao He ca over unnoticed and asked upon seeing the two by the door.
Qingxia and Qing Shan stepped aside, and Pei Huaian appeared before her. The previously lackluster Shao He now looked surprised, “Didn’t you go to et the Commandery Princess of Ninghe? Why have you co back?”
Pei Huaian replied, “I’ve sent her away and made a special trip back to tell you that,” not understanding why he felt compelled to return, but sensing it was necessary to avoid any misunderstandings.
The irritated mood that had consud Shao He vanished, and she suppressed a smile as she said, “Your leg should be better with so more practice, but don’t overdo it.”
“Alright, get so rest,” Pei Huaian said with a wave before turning to board his carriage.
Shao He watched as the carriage moved further away and, with a lighter step, walked back to her room.
It was the height of sumr now, and the heat was getting more intense by the day, causing the streets to be less crowded than usual.
Shao He propped her chin on her hands as she watched the passersby outside the door. It had been over half a month since the Shao Family had been in touch, and she had yet to return. Their lack of action puzzled her.
As she contemplated what could have happened with the Shao Family, she saw Jhiang Yijia, who was more than seven months pregnant, coming for a check-up.
Shao He took her to get a B-ultrasound and inquired casually during their small talk, “Do you know if sothing has happened with the Shao Family recently?”
“Why bring up the Shao Family all of a sudden? Are they causing you trouble again?” Jhiang Yijia beca agitated, almost sitting up from the bed.
“Settle down; I was just asking. They can’t trouble ,” Shao He reassured.
“Oh, I’ve heard that Shao Mingyang has caused so trouble, and Shao Zhengru must be busy cleaning up his ss,” Jhiang Yijia said.
Of course, these were things Fang Jue told her each night to keep her entertained with news of Capital City.
Shao He inford her that the baby was healthy with no issues.
Jhiang Yijia finally breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that her mother-in-law had not let her leave the house lately, and thankful for Fang Jue who would sneak her out despite her restlessness.
As they were leaving, Jhiang Yijia suddenly said, “There have been so unsavory rumors circulating in Capital City recently, have you heard?”
“What rumors?” Shao He had been too busy to have ti to pay attention to Capital City’s gossip.
“It’s about you and the Fifth Prince. Many people are saying there’s sothing ambiguous between you two, and there’s even talk that the Fifth Prince intends to marry you, but you keep refusing. Anyway, there are a lot of different stories.”
Jhiang Yijia, too, was surprised to hear such rumors and had soone investigate, which led to a shocking discovery.
Shao He hadn’t expected such rumors, indicating that the person spreading them must have a deep connection to her; otherwise, they wouldn’t know about her close relationship with the Fifth Prince.
“Do you know who’s behind these rumors?” Jhiang Yijia asked the silent Shao He.
Shao He shook her head, “I don’t know.”
“It’s Liang Weishuang. When these rumors ca out, I specifically had Fang Jue look into it,” Jhiang Yijia said cautiously.
Shao He had once treated Liang Weishuang, and although they hadn’t beco great friends, they had spent a pleasant ti together. Now, this situation was a bit disheartening.
Seeing her different expression, Shao He felt cold inside. They had been friends, and it was difficult to accept that such things had co from her mouth.
Yet, upon rembering Liang Weishuang’s infatuation with Chu Yu, Shao He found it sowhat understandable. Although her nature was not bad, love could drive people mad.

“Don’t take this to heart. Now that Chu Yu’s influence has waned, he poses less of a threat to you. The only concern might be the issue regarding the child.”
“Nobody can take Linzhang from , no one at all,” Shao He declared firmly.
Her child was her final line; if anyone dared to cross it, they should not bla her for not holding back. She didn’t care if she had to fight to the death.
Jhiang Yijia sensed the strong maternal love emanating from her and unconsciously stroked her belly.
After chatting for a while, Fang Jue ca to pick her up, and Jhiang Yijia reluctantly left the clinic.
Reflecting on Liang Weishuang’s actions, Shao He felt quite contemplative. She had hoped they could be friends, but it seed love-struck individuals were beyond reason.
She just hoped Liang Weishuang wouldn’t beco another Luo Jiner. After all, they had been friends and Shao He didn’t want to see her take the wrong path.
