Chapter 105: Chapter 106: Lost Too Much Blood to Save
Shao He noticed his gloomy expression, picked up the teacup for a light sip, and said, “It seems you’ve traveled to many places.”
“Yes,” Pei Huaian ca to his senses and responded before adding, “I indeed have visited many places, Desert North, Huangcheng, Mingdu, each place has its distinct characteristics.”
Shao He listened quietly as he recounted, occasionally laughing and interjecting a few words.
Pei Huaian had never chatted so freely with anyone else before, finding even one extra word a waste of ti. Now, however, he felt there were too few words and not enough ti.
The two chatted about dostic matters in a warm and peaceful atmosphere, and after a while, Pei Huaian took his leave.
After Pei Huaian had left, Shao He sat in the chair without moving for a long ti, staring blankly out the window.
...
The night wind rattled the window sashes, making a “whirring” sound.
After a long while, Shao He ca back to her senses, clapped her hand on her forehead, and seed to have been duped; the initial topic had clearly been about stopping Pei Huaian from delivering goat milk.
Unwittingly, they had started talking about other matters, thus she overlooked that Pei Huaian had not agreed to stop the deliveries.
Suddenly, Shao He thought of sothing—both the servant girls were sent by Pei Huaian, and his behavior at Mass Burial Mound had sparked so doubts in her heart.
Moreover, his concern for the child seed excessive.
For now, let it be; another day, when there was a chance, she would talk to him about this matter. She tidied the books on the table and then went back to her room to rest.
…
Early next morning, shortly after Shao He had arrived at Anji Hall, she heard screams.
“Help, help!”
Turning around, Shao He saw a woman, covered in blood, bringing soone into Anji Hall, continuously crying for help.
She quickly approached and saw that the man was covered in knife wounds and bleeding profusely. If it continued like this, his life would be in danger.
“Doctor, please, save my son, save my son,” the woman said as she knelt down pleading.
Shao He helped the woman to her feet, turned around, and hurriedly took out things to stop the bleeding, wiping the blood off the man and starting to treat his wounds.
Frowning at the strong sll of blood, Shao He knew ti was life, and each second could decide the man’s fate.
“What to do? This wound…” the woman’s eyes brimd with tears as she anxiously watched her husband, tightly clutching the corner of her clothes.
Shao He calmly examined the man’s wounds, each one deep enough to expose bone, posing a serious threat to his life if not promptly treated.
“Don’t worry, I will stitch his wounds. He needs to be taken to the operating room now, wait outside,” Shao He said to Yun Qian, signaling him to get people to carry the man inside.
Yun Qian looked tense, aware of the man’s precarious condition, wanting to say sothing but stopping himself.
Yun Qian called the servant boy from the back yard to carry the man into the side room, Shao He following closely, examining the man’s wounds, “The wounds are deep, we’ll need number one and number four sutures.”
As soon as she finished speaking, two different types of suture material fell onto the man.
“We also need round and triangular needles, scissors, needle holders, scissors, tweezers, hemostats, sterile gauze, cotton swabs, paper tape, and iodine.”
After she focused her mind and finished listing everything needed, these items appeared out of thin air on the man.
Outside, Yun Qian held back the woman and comforted, “You just wait here. Doctor Shao’s treatnt process must not be disturbed.”
After calming the woman, Yun Qian entered the room, surprised at the sight of the dicine and strange items in Shao He’s hands. Although this wasn’t his first ti seeing such things, he was still sowhat shocked by them.
Shao He skillfully disinfected the man’s wounds and began stitching, her movents deft and quick, every step looking highly professional.
Her suturing was incredibly delicate; each stitch passed through the man’s skin, sealing the wounds with great firmness.
After finishing, Shao He stood up straight, exhaled a cloudy breath, and appeared very tired.
She knew this kind of surgery was very draining on her body, but she also knew it was her duty and mission as a doctor.
Yun Qian, seeing the pale man, sighed lightly, “Even if you managed to sew his wounds with great effort, it’s useless, he’s lost too much blood to be saved.”
Shao He, seeing the person fall into a coma from excessive blood loss, went to the inner room, focused her mind, and took out dical equipnt from a space.
Shao He went to the man’s side to draw blood for testing. After determining he had type B blood, she turned to Yun Qian, “Quick, ask if anyone is willing to donate blood; offer them silver.”
“Can I do it?” Yun Qian asked, surprised.
Though he didn’t understand what Shao He was doing, he vaguely grasped the aning of donating blood—that is, to give one’s own blood.
Without answering, Shao He swiftly rolled up his sleeve to draw blood for testing, fearing he might change his mind the next second. The result was an incompatible blood type, “No, find soone else.”
Despite having many questions, Yun Qian knew it wasn’t the ti to ask, so he turned and ran outside. The woman outside caught him, about to say sothing, but Yun Qian pushed her away.
Just as he stepped outside, he collided with Pei Huaian and Yan Ze approaching. Seeing them like seeing saviors, he pushed Pei Huaian with one hand and pulled Yan Ze with the other, quickly heading back to the side room.
“Hey, Doctor Yun, you this…”
“There’s no ti to explain, co quickly and help save him.”
Pei Huaian and Yan Ze exchanged glances, each seeing confusion in the other’s eyes.
