Bai Shiyue looked away, her fingers absently rubbing slow circles over her belly. "I don’t know why you’re doing this, but... thanks, I guess."
Qingran leaned against the car, watching her. "Don’t thank yet."
Bai Shiyue raised an eyebrow. "Should I be worried?"
"Not unless you plan on running off sowhere," Qingran said dryly.
Bai Shiyue let out a short laugh, shaking her head. "I’m five months pregnant, not an athlete. Trust , I’m not running anywhere."
Qingran humd. "Good."
"Buckle up. I’ll drop you off at your place," Qingran said, pushing off the car and opening the door.
Bai Shiyue hesitated for a mont before nodding, sliding into the passenger seat. As Qingran started the car and pulled out onto the road, Bai Shiyue glanced sideways at her. "So... you’re really just doing this out of the kindness of your heart?"
Qingran’s grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly.
Kindness? No. She wasn’t that noble. But Bai Shiyue wouldn’t believe the truth even if she said it.
"Let’s just say I don’t like leaving things to chance," Qingran finally said.
Bai Shiyue snorted softly. "You’re a weird one, Gu Qingran."
Qingran smirked. "So I’ve been told."
Bai Shiyue sighed holding unto the door.
"Are you really coming back in 4 days ti?"
Qingran nodded, she needed to hire so security to make the lie more believable.
"Yes. If you see so people around her apartnt. Be afraid, they’re just here to guide you."
"Alright. Thank you for your help.."

Qingran nodded, she needed to find three more people. What to do.
"Who else to add.."
She felt her phone vibrate, it was her ho phone number. What could Haoyu need.
"Hello?"
"Sister Qing, I’m in an incredibly fucked situation.."
".."
"What happened?"
"It seems your boyfriend is not satisfied that im here and not you. He’s not like that day, he might really kill .."
"..."
"Fuck! Feng Yizhou that bastard, stay put I’m on my way.."
Haoyu ended the call as he turned to Feng Yizhou, who sitted comfortably on the couch.
"Is she on her way?"
"Yes! Fuck! If you call her she’ll co so why force to lie?"
"I don’t like you being in her house. They only reason you’re still here is because I let you.."
Haoyu’s lips twitched and he scoffed "Don’t be delusional, the only reason I’m still here is because you can’t dare to go against sister Qingran, you don’t want to get in her bad side.."
Feng Yizhou’s expression didn’t change, but the air in the room seed to drop a few degrees. He leaned back against the couch, his long fingers tapping idly against the armrest. "Is that so?"
Haoyu felt the weight of his gaze and resisted the urge to shift uncomfortably. He had seen firsthand how ruthless this man could be, and he wasn’t in the mood to play mind gas.
"Look, I don’t know what your deal is," Haoyu said, crossing his arms, "but you could’ve just called her normally instead of dragging into this ss."
Feng Yizhou’s lips curled into sothing that might’ve been a smile—but it wasn’t a kind one. "If I called, she would have made an excuse. But if she thought you were in danger, she’d co imdiately."
Haoyu stared at him, disbelief flashing across his face. "You manipulative—"
Before he could finish, the sound of a car pulling up outside made him shut his mouth. A second later, the door swung open, and Qingran stepped inside, her sharp gaze imdiately locking onto Feng Yizhou.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" she snapped, storming forward. "You scared the kid half to death!"
Haoyu, ever the opportunist, imdiately latched onto her arm. "Exactly! Sister Qing, this man is insane—"
"Shut up," Qingran and Feng Yizhou said at the sa ti.
Haoyu huffed but wisely stayed quiet.
Qingran turned her glare back to Feng Yizhou. "Explain. Now."
"Where were you?"
"..."
"Feng Yizhou are you insane? You told you were busy and to et you in your apartnt later. So why the fuck are you asking where I was, and why are you in my house."
"...."
"You said you wanted to tell sothing, so I decided to stop by earlier..." Feng Yizhou scratching his head.
"You’re so fucking annoying. The zombification as started, I saw it when a colleague of mine passed away, when ca to greet the family, we got the chance to see the body. I don’t know if the family got him cremated before he turned. Now there’s another one in the facility. It’s happening, the end of the beginning has started.."
Feng Yizhou’s fingers stilled against the armrest. His gaze darkened, sharp and unreadable. "Are you certain?"
Qingran ran a hand through her hair, frustration clear in her eyes. "Yes. It’s not just so isolated case. The body showed all the early signs—discoloration, rigor mortis setting in too fast, and most importantly... the damn thing twitched before we left."
Haoyu paled. "T-twitched?"
Qingran shot him a look. "Yes, twitched. Like the nervous system was struggling to reboot itself. You think I’m joking?"
Haoyu shook his head so fast it was a wonder it didn’t snap off. "Nope. Definitely not. Holy shit."
Feng Yizhou exhaled slowly, his mind already moving several steps ahead. "That ans we don’t have much ti."
"Exactly," Qingran said, arms crossed. "The facility has protocols, but they’re useless if they don’t act fast enough. One slip-up, one corpse that gets missed, and we’ll have our first outbreak."
Silence settled in the room, heavy with unspoken tension.
Then Feng Yizhou stood up. "What’s your next move?"
Qingran gave him a sharp look. "You an our next move."
His lips curled slightly. "I thought you didn’t want involved."
"I don’t," she admitted. "But you’ve already inserted yourself into my business, so you might as well be useful."
