Chapter 97: Daydreaming

He didn’t expect that such a young kid could have such an amazing skill, his parents might have spent a lot on such a small child.

Nelson got out of the car and sneaked into the yard of the suburban villa.

He saw the old butler having a eting with several servants and tiptoed into the house. Not long after he entered and heard what has happened Leander soon appeared

"Uncle Nelson? Uncle Nelson?" Leander’s face turned pale, looking guilty, as he called out.

Nelson squatted down and looked at Leander’s dressed-up appearance, feeling a bit suspicious, and asked, "Did you go out? Where did you go? Do you know that everyone in the family is looking for you?"

Nelson had suddenly returned to the City and ca to the villa they are living in. He wanted to greet Claire and her son, but they were not there. After inquiring, he found out that Claire had gone back to work at the Western dical Clinic, and Leander was missing.

For this reason, Nelson was furious and scolded the old butler and the servants. But he didn’t expect that the culprit would appear just after he had finished venting his anger.

Looking at Leander’s pleasing expression, Nelson helplessly pulled the corners of his mouth and asked, "Did you sneak out?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Leander jumped up and down anxiously, pressing his little index finger in front of his lips. His cute appearance made it hard not to laugh.

Nelson shook his head helplessly and picked him up. Leander hugged Nelson’s neck and affectionately said, "Uncle Nelson, you’re the best. But you can’t let Mommy know about this!"

Nelson raised his eyebrows, his smile widening as he asked, "So where did you go?"

Leander’s watery eyes darted around, and he stuttered, "I went to the café in the western part of the city. Mommy and a grandma took

there yesterday, and the food was so delicious. I was afraid Mommy wouldn’t let

go, so I went by myself."

"With an aunt?" Nelson frowned. After thinking for a mont, he took out his phone and opened a photo, asking, "Is this the person?"

Leander looked at the photo of Emma on the phone and nodded, "Yes."

At these words, Nelson’s heart sank, and he asked seriously, "Did she say anything to make you go back with her or anything like that?"

"Um..." Leander tilted his head and thought for a while, then answered honestly, "No, she just asked

what I liked to eat."

Nelson’s face darkened, and his tone beca serious. "In the future, you must not go out alone. Otherwise, you might not see your mommy again!"

Leander’s face turned pale, looking frightened. He nodded quickly and said, "I understand, Uncle Nelson."

Seeing his timid expression, Nelson’s heart ached. He lovingly ruffled Leander’s hair and said, "Alright, go back to your room quickly. I’ll go check on your mother."

Leander obediently said, "Okay," and walked up the stairs with quick steps.

Watching Leander disappear from sight, Nelson withdrew his gaze and turned to leave the villa. He got into his car and drove toward the Western dical Clinic.

At the sa ti, at the Western dical Clinic, Claire couldn’t show her face and couldn’t take on any dical duties. Instead, she chose to work on dispensing dicine.

Now, the Western dical Clinic was quite large, with many employees. It was more like she was there to monitor things rather than to work. Claire, bored, propped her chin on her hand and leaned against the window, watching the patients co and go.

Suddenly, her gaze caught sight of a figure, and her pupils shrank.

After several years, he still stood out in a crowd.

He was wearing a well-tailored black long coat, a fitted shirt paired with trousers, showcasing his elegance and nobility. The man’s handso features exuded a sharp and cold aura. His thin lips pressed into a straight line, and his whole body emitted a distant, aloof atmosphere that kept people at bay.

His narrow and deep phoenix eyes seed to contain a vast starry sky, yet they were as unfathomable as the deep ocean. However, as he approached, he gave off an inexplicable sense of oppression.

Claire was lost in thought, and her burning gaze seed to have caught Alex’s attention. Seeing him look up, Claire was so startled that she quickly shrank her shoulders and lowered her head, pretending to be seriously organizing the dicine.

Alex frowned, glanced at her panicked and evasive eyes, but didn’t continue paying attention. Instead, he lifted his foot and walked forward.

After Alex left, Claire dared to lift her head. Looking at Alex’s gradually disappearing figure, Claire felt a bit lost.

At this mont, an extrely impatient voice ca from outside the door.

"Where is it? I’ve been waiting for this dicine for so long. Why hasn’t it been prepared yet?"

Anna knocked on the glass window of the pharmacy, looking arrogant and domineering.

Hearing the familiar voice, Claire’s heart sank, but before she could avoid it, she was recognized by Anna. "Ah! Ghost!"

Anna scread and took several steps back before stabilizing herself. She pointed at Claire, her face extrely pale.

Seeing this, Claire no longer hid and walked out of the door, standing in front of Anna, saying, "Long ti no see."

"You... are you a human or a ghost?" Anna still looked panicked, her voice trembling.

Claire helplessly curled her lips and said, "What do you think?"

"But... aren’t you already dead?" Anna still had a look of disbelief, which made Claire lose her patience.

Claire turned around, ignoring Anna as if she was about to leave.

Seeing this, Anna imdiately regained her senses and grabbed Claire’s wrist, saying, "Stop!"

Claire paused and turned her head to look at her, coldly saying, "Let go."

With a cold glance from Claire, Anna instinctively let go of her hand. She didn’t hold back her words, saying, "What are you doing back here? Don’t you know that Alex has forgotten about you? Your appearance will not only give him a headache but also remind him of those unbearable past events! Claire, you shouldn’t be here!" Anna glared at Claire with a fierce and venomous look, as if she wanted to kill her with her eyes.

Claire sneered, saying, "Oh? Unbearable past events? I really want to know what he has forgotten. Has he forgotten even your malicious face? If that’s the case, I don’t mind reminding him!"

Upon hearing this, Anna’s face turned pale. A hint of guilt flashed in her eyes, but she still insisted, saying, "You can’t ruin our relationship!"

Claire sneered and mocked, "Ha, ruin your relationship? Are you even worthy?"

Anna was furious and gritted her teeth, calling Claire a "slut" in anger.

After she finished speaking, she raised her hand and was about to slap Claire. However, before her hand could touch Claire, Claire reflexively dodged.

Claire lifted her gaze and looked at Anna with a cold expression, sneering, "What? Are you angry now?" Her words made Anna tremble all over.

Then, Anna regained her composure.

Claire sneered and mocked, "Ruin your relationship? Are you even worthy?"

Anna was furious and gritted her teeth, calling Claire a "slut" in anger. After she finished speaking, she raised her hand, about to slap Claire. However, before her hand could make contact, Claire reflexively dodged.

Claire lifted her gaze and looked at Anna coldly, sneering, "What? Are you angry now?"

Her words made Anna tremble all over. Then, Anna regained her composure and sneered, "Ha, just you? You still want to be with Alex? Daydreaming!"

Claire smiled casually and said, "Since you’re so sure, how about we make a bet?"

"What are we betting on?" Anna asked warily.

Claire’s lips curled into a smirk. "Whoever loses has to leave the City from now on."

"Deal!" Anna agreed without hesitation, confident in herself.

Satisfied with the outco, Claire smiled and turned to enter the dispensary. Seeing this, Anna suddenly rembered the purpose of her visit. Her eyes flickered, and she followed Claire inside.

Claire imdiately beca wary and said, "Get out. This is not the place for you."

Anna chuckled lightly and said, "Don’t be so distant, sister. I want to ask you sothing."

Claire stopped and turned around with a smile on her face. "Oh? Little Anna, you’re so knowledgeable and talented. What do you want to ask

about?"

Anna’s face stiffened, forcing a smile. "Of course, it’s about dical skills."

"That sister, can Uncle Jack continue drinking the previous prescription?" Claire’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "What? It’s not effective anymore?"

"The prescription should be formulated according to his physical condition. It can’t be used continuously," Claire explained.

Upon hearing this, Anna’s face imdiately turned ugly. Over the years, she had been secretly in contact with Jack. Originally, Jack’s condition had greatly improved after taking the prescription that Claire had initially prescribed. However, over the past year, the efficacy of the dicine had not only declined but worsened his condition.
