Chapter 838: Chapter 812: Shocking News and the Truth of the Matter Chapter 838: Chapter 812: Shocking News and the Truth of the Matter Kiara already had a plan, when the teacher asked her, she would solemnly tell them that this ti the treatnt affected her personal emotions; she felt worried for impoverished families and developed sympathy, so she needed ti to recover her psychological state and that’s why she missed Professor Joel’s lecture—The teacher surely wouldn’t have the heart to punish her.
Kiara pushed her glasses up her nose, smiling like a little fox.
Professor Joel saw her reaction and was amused.
“Emma Clark.”
“Hmm?”
“Your performance today, it passed.”
Crazy, Kiara gave him a glare. What was he babbling about now?
Never mind, even if she couldn’t understand, she had to get out quickly in case she ran into that other professor.
After leaving, Kiara found a bathhouse, enjoyed a good massage to relax thoroughly, and when she finally thought to turn on her phone, a barrage of texts ca through—most were from Isaac, and there was one from Professor Liu Taylor.
Kiara opened Professor Liu Taylor’s text, which contained a fervent ssage, “Great job, the industry hopes for a bright star like you in the future, keep it up!”
What?
The teacher knew so quickly about her doing a good deed today? It must have been the Dean who told the teacher. It seed the teacher wasn’t angry about her skipping out on the session, Kiara breathed a sigh of relief, having dodged a bullet.
Having stood up that pompous professor several tis, surely this so-called authoritative figure must have a terribly low opinion of her by now and given up on her, right?
Hopefully that was the case.
Kiara felt like she had resolved a major issue and, feeling cheerful, called Isaac again.
“Mrs. Kiara! Where did you go, why was your phone unreachable all this ti?”
“I was outside, is the lecture over?”
“Yeah! It was fantastic, but it wasn’t Professor Joel in person, it was his assistant physician, who seems to also be his protégé, a postdoctoral student. His talk was amazing.” Isaac had taken down all the notes, planning on sharing them with Mrs. Kiara.
“That’s good, there’s a takeaway. When can you get off work?”
“I’m off already. Oliver Yakov didn’t show up at the agreed ti, so I was free to leave.”
“Then co to the pedestrian street, let’s go shopping.”
A few minutes later, Isaac arrived, and Mrs. Kiara took her to the bookstore, where Isaac was surprised to see all the books Kiara chose were about preparing for pregnancy.
“Are you planning on having a baby?”
“Yeah.” Kiara thought she had resolved the issue of choosing a doctoral advisor, so the next thing on her agenda was to have a joyful ti conceiving with Camden.
“But what about your studies—”
“No rush; life unfolds naturally. Shall we have barbeque later?”
For so reason, the word ‘barbeque’ made Isaac feel a bit nauseous, and she shook her head.
“I’d prefer sothing lighter.”
“Okay, then let’s go have vegetarian, my treat today since I’m in such a great mood~”
It was always sowhat dull just the two of them dining, so Kiara tried to call a few friends, but no one was around.
Tiara Stone had gone ho after graduation; she planned to get married in the sumr, and Mrs. Kiara would be there then.
Olivia Brown was now as close with Giorno as if they were one person, in their honeymoon phase, so calling her would not bring her out. Kiara intended to invite Jojo, but his phone was out of the service area, and Kiara had no idea what he was busy with.
As soon as they sat down in the Vegetarian Restaurant, before they could even place their order, Kiara received a call from Jenny Bailey.
“Mrs. Kiara, I need to tell you sothing. Weren’t you saying earlier that we should go karaoke?”
“Yes, I have so throat issues right now, so I might need to wait—”
“It’s not about waiting or not, Mrs. Kiara! That internet friend you introduced may have gotten into trouble!”
“What?!” Kiara beca serious.
The online friend she introduced, isn’t that Jojo?
“I ssaged him, and he just wouldn’t reply. I also called the number he gave , but the phone was switched off!”
“You guys exchanged numbers?”
“Yes, we exchanged them two days ago. We were both waiting to et up, but when I called him yesterday, our call was suddenly cut off halfway through our conversation.”
At that ti, Jenny Bailey thought he had so family ergency, so she didn’t continue talking, but when she tried calling again at night, the phone was disconnected.
Jenny Bailey left him a ssage on QQ, but the avatar of “Little Furball” remained gray.
The phone was still unreachable, and Jenny Bailey felt sothing was not right, which is why she thought to reach out to Emma Clark.
“Could it be that Jojo went back ho with his dad?” Isaac, listening in on the side, couldn’t help but guess.
“Impossible, we actually had agreed to et this morning. He was going to accompany to buy clothes. Pebble is not soone to break promises, I know him.” Even though Jenny Bailey disliked n, for so reason, she did not dislike this “man” with the screen na Little Furball, and they always had good conversations.
“We’re at the Vegetarian Restaurant now, co here, and I’ll take you to Jojo’s house.”
Emma Clark must have also realized sothing was amiss and imdiately took action.
Jenny Bailey arrived on her little motorbike a few minutes later, her face full of anxiety.
Although she had never t this online friend in person, they had talked for so long that they had developed a bond; Jenny Bailey had this feeling inside her, a premonition that sothing had happened to Jojo.
Emma Clark asked her to park the motorbike in front of the restaurant, and then drove Isaac and Jenny Bailey to the house that Jojo had rented.
They knocked at the door for a long ti, but no one answered.
Just as the group was at a loss for what to do, a middle-aged man ca upstairs and was clearly surprised to see them.
“Who are you looking for?”
“We’re looking for Jojo,” said Emma Clark, guessing that this man, who bore so resemblance to Jojo, must be his relative.
“Jojo, oh, he was taken to the Southern Region by my elder brother. Co back and look for him after a month.”
The man who had arrived was Jojo’s uncle, sent by his elder brother to check the house because they had left in haste, worried that they hadn’t turned off the appliances and wanting to shut off the water as well.
“Southern Region?!”
Emma Clark was shocked.
Could it be that Jojo was forcibly taken by his father to that institution reputed to correct Gender Identity Disorder?!
If that was indeed the case, then it would complicate things terribly and be very difficult to deal with!
“You’re his friends, you should know that Reza Shawn is actually a girl, right? But she always feels she is a man, wears n’s clothes, and just loafs around. My elder brother has been so worried that he took her ho for treatnt now.”
“Is it treatnt at ho, or did you send her to an institution for treatnt?” Emma Clark pressed.
“We originally wanted to send her to a professional place, but it was full and we couldn’t get an appointnt, so my brother found a therapist from overseas who provided a treatnt plan. We bought equipnt to treat her at ho.”
Equipnt?
That single word made Emma Clark’s heart race.
“Which country’s therapist gave you the treatnt plan?” Emma Clark asked further.
Jojo’s uncle ntioned a place, and Emma Clark went pale.
The Psychiatry Departnt of that nation was notoriously unreliable! They all used bizarre thods that made no sense, like witch doctors exorcising demons to treat depression, or using a hamr to strike the head to treat homosexuality! It was one of the most backward countries in psychiatry. How could they seek a “therapist” there?!
Emma Clark guessed that Jojo definitely wouldn’t have wanted to go, so his father likely resorted to force, possibly knocking Jojo out and carrying him away with the help of two strong family mbers, or tricking Jojo into going ho!
“Mrs. Kiara, this Jojo you’re talking about—is it possible that he is—” Jenny Bailey seed to grasp sothing.
Emma Clark nodded gravely. “Reza Shawn is Little Furball.”
“What?!” Jenny Bailey was hugely shocked.
She had never imagined that the Pebble, the little brother she got along with so well online, was actually the sa man she had previously looked down upon!
And… he was actually a woman?!
