Chapter 1486: Chapter 1458: Is He Your Husband? Haha
“Dad, the person Kiara is actually most worried about is you,” he said. “If you can’t hold on because of this, when she cos back, she will definitely bla herself. Maybe she’ll never be happy in her life. So for her sake, you absolutely must not have anything happen to you.”
Mario Yuno said this to Yuzo Joel.
He knew his request was unreasonable, since one cannot control their own illness, but at that mont, Mario Yuno had embraced Kiara’s theory of winning by belief. He hoped that Yuzo Joel’s feelings for Kiara would be able to create a miracle of life.
Yuzo Joel looked at Mario Yuno, and the two n exchanged a look of mutual understanding.
“The sa goes for you,” he said to Mario Yuno.
For the sake of the woman they both cared for in their hearts, the two of them had to overco their physical trials and bring her ho.
…
In a coastal city along the Central Arican shoreline, there is a villa district that’s quite beautiful with its European architecture. It’s adjacent to the pier with all kinds of life facilities, practically an independent small kingdom.
In the bedroom of one of the villas, a girl lay quietly sleeping. Her forehead was wrapped in a circle of gauze, the edges slightly stained red, showing a unique beauty mark.
She had been asleep for a long ti, long enough to make those waiting for her feel so anxious.
“Why hasn’t she woken up yet?” Jas Norris ‘Norris Flowery Fox’ asked the family doctor.
She had already been brought here by the ti he was released. From the mont of her arrival, she had been asleep. Two days had passed and she had not awakened, although the rise and fall of her body under the covers indicated that her vital signs were stable.
“According to the person who brought her back, she struggled fiercely when leaving, and accidentally hit her head on a pole…”
“Damn it,” Norris muttered under his breath. He knew that Matt Bailey had definitely been up to sothing by detaining him, but he hadn’t expected him to be so bold as to actually bring Emma Clark over.
“Who brought her here?”
“You don’t need to ask that,” Matt Bailey said as he wheeled himself in.
“What exactly do you want to do? I warned you not to touch her, why didn’t you listen?! Do you really think the farmstead and her man are pushovers?” Norris was furious upon seeing the instigator.
“Why are you so agitated if I did do sothing to her?” Matt Bailey’s remark made Norris quiet down, pursing his lips and turning his head to the side. What an repulsive old man.
“All her past there has vanished, to those people she is just a dead person anyway. And when she opens her eyes again, there will be a whole new world…”
Angered by his words, Norris grabbed his collar with such force that he actually pulled him up from the wheelchair, “What did you do to her!”
Matt Bailey’s bodyguards pried Norris off, and as Norris angrily kicked at Matt Bailey, he struck right in the stomach—sending Matt Bailey tumbling backwards, falling behind the wheelchair!
The people inside the room froze in fear. How could the Young Boss dare to strike the Boss so hard?!
“You bastard! Hit him!” Matt Bailey was sprawled on the floor, embarrassed, as bodyguards quickly ca to help him up.
Other bodyguards received orders to hit Norris. Norris fought back fiercely, preventing them from getting close, and the room descended into chaos.
While the place turned into a free-for-all, the woman on the bed opened her eyes.
Her head was in so much pain, as if it was about to split open.
“You’re awake,” Matt Bailey said with surprise when he saw she had awoken.
Kiara opened her eyes and blankly surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings. Her mind was completely empty at the mont, instinctively searching for the source of the voice.
Norris also saw that she was awake, and felt a surge of joy. His movents slowed for a second, and one of the bodyguards managed to pin his hand, while another kicked him in the abdon, making Norris grunt in pain.
Having just awoken and witnessing this scene, Kiara furrowed her brows.
“Stop hitting him,” Matt Bailey intervened, and the bodyguard released Jas Norris ‘Norris Flowery Fox’, who rushed to the bedside to ask Kiara.
“Emma Clark, how are you feeling?”
“Who are you?” Kiara looked at the masked man in front of her and asked in confusion.
Jas Norris wanted to say he was Fox Cat but felt it inappropriate with the mask on, and hesitated.
“Why does my head hurt so much?” Kiara rubbed her temples. Why did she feel there were so many fragnted pieces of information in her mind, yet she couldn’t piece together a complete world?
Jas Norris glared at Matt Bailey.
What exactly had he done to Emma Clark?! Why was her head hurting?!
When Matt Bailey heard Kiara say this and thought she didn’t rember, he was overjoyed; the drug they were developing indeed worked!
When Kiara was brought in, she was already knocked out. Taking advantage of her unconscious state, Matt Bailey had soone inject her with a drug they were developing, which could paralyze the hippocampus—where mories are stored in humans—causing the person to experience disordered mories, or even lose so mories, for a period of ti.
Scientific experints have shown that when part of the hippocampus is removed, part of the mory disappears. Although this injection can’t completely erase mories, it can make parts of the mory disappear for a ti. The developnt of this drug was still in progress, but Kiara’s arrival prompted an early human trial. Now, it seed to be quite effective.
“Why am I here?”
Kiara’s mind was a jumbled ss; it seed like a figure was constantly calling her Kiara, and a little cute kid was calling her ‘Mother’.
But when she tried to think hard, her head would hurt terribly.
“You are—,” Jas Norris’s words were cut off by Matt Bailey.
“You are my daughter-in-law, Emma Clark. This is your husband, Jas Norris ‘Norris Flowery Fox’. Ryan, why don’t you take off your mask to see your wife?”
Jas Norris’s eyes widened. What was the old man babbling about?!
“Husband?!” Kiara instinctively pushed the position of her nose but found it bare.
No glasses, yet she could see clearly—why was there such a strange feeling?
While she was unconscious, in addition to the injection, Matt Bailey also arranged for her to undergo laser surgery to correct her nearsightedness.
Hence, Kiara’s eyesight was now normal; she no longer needed glasses.
The reason for doing this was to cut off her connection with the past and reduce habitual movents. That way, when the drug’s effects lessened, if she recalled fragnts of the past, they could brainwash her by telling her that wasn’t her — look, she didn’t even have glasses.
Even her dressing style would be the complete opposite of her past, leading Kiara to believe she was soone else.
Unable to feel her glasses yet seeing clearly, Kiara sensed sothing was off. Looking down, she was startled by the clothes she was wearing.
A princess puffy dress adorned with pink lace!
One glance in the mirror and she’d look like a noble girl from the dieval tis. Is that supposed to be her style of dressing…
In her mind, she seed to see an image of a man holding a comic book and snickering. She didn’t like such attire, but she felt soone would— who would that person be? Her husband?
“You see, this is your husband, Jas Norris, ‘Norris Flowery Fox’,” Matt Bailey Thomas Norris ‘Norris Celestial’ had soone remove Norris’s mask.
Kiara looked at Jas Norris’s surprised face again and again, as streams of information bubbled up in her mind. She flashed a very eerie smile.
“Oh? He’s my… husband?!”
Heh.
