Chapter 23: Let

Show You How Weak You Truly Are

The surroundings grew extrely silent, even the winds stilled and the birds stopped their joyful chirps.

Then two figures blurred past the trees, silence accompanying their very steps.

After a mont, Aden appeared in the direction they passed.

His eyes narrowed dangerously, a suffocating coldness residing within them as he vanished.

’I still sense Master, so things haven’t gotten extrely dangerous, but these two are rather annoying.’

A considerable amount of ti had passed since Aden had engaged in this bloody ga of Hide and Seek with the assassins that were after him.

Their techniques were definitely subpar compared to what he had learned, but their ability to mask their energies and blend with the low frequency energies of the environnt left him chasing shadows.

Slowing down his inhuman speed, his head snapped to the left without warning.

Aden thrust out his left hand. The air twisted violently around it before erupting outward, detonating against a distant tree with devastating force.

Within the rapid decimation of wood and splinter, a dark figure jumped and rolled against the soil with a dull thud.

Aden’s eyes locked on his imdiately. He could see the assassin shiver visibly before he appeared before him.

Before the assassin could ascertain what would happen next, a fist slamd into his head, planting his face into the ground.

Without giving a mont to recuperate, he launched a kick deep into his ribs, sending him flying a distance and colliding with a rock.

His expression icy, he blurred to the groaning figure, and grabbed his head.

Their eyes locked before the veins on Aden’s hands bulged.

A look of panic spread in the assassin’s eyes. His body writhed and slamd a kick into Aden’s chest with all the force he could muster, tearing himself free.

Aden regained his balance quickly, before giving chase to the assassin.

The winds brushed past their figures as he navigated the curvy terrain with ease. His eyes followed the assassin’s trail with unnerving calm as he gradually grew closer.

There was only one thought on his mind:

’I’m going to kill you. No matter what it takes.’

Inevitably, the distance between him and his prey decreased. His fists closed onto the assasin’s head before he suddenly dissapeared.

Confusion flashed across his face as he halted his steps, the soil building under his feet as he skidded to a stop.

His eyes glowed as he scanned the jungle attentively.

’Cowardly assasins, tsk.’

He took two steps forward, then his eyes widened.

A soft click sounded under him before he felt sothing pierce beneath his foot, and his resonance energy collapsed inward as an unseen restriction clamped down.

"What in the—!"

Before he could adjust to the devastating change, sothing whizzed past him and buried itself in the soil before him.

"Shit!"

A small tag hooked on a kunai promised sothing his present state wasn’t able to handle.

His body turned and he hurried to take cover inside a beast’s den, but his speed didn’t prove sufficient.

A loud explosion bit into his eardrums before the flas covered the entirety of his body.

Pain burned through every fibre of his being, the scent of burnt flesh grew strong in his nose as he crashed against the floor.

His face twisted in pain as low, dry screams left his lips.

His vision blurred for a mont before four feet grew in his vision.

One of them spoke, neutrality in the feminine voice but Aden could sense the hidden smugness within.

"So this is the dead son of Sir Redwyn. I must say, he’s quite strong, but not as strong as us. Obviously"

A lodious laughter left her lips as she squatted before him, her expression masked but the glee in her eyes visible.

"You have sothing rather valuable to Sir Redwyn, and we were rely sent here to retrieve it. No hard feelings, teehee."

Aden’s teeth clenched as his feet spasd in an attempt to bring himself to stand, but a blade that pierced itself into his flesh stopped every effort.

Blood flowed and poured onto the soil in large pumps.

"Don’t try anything funny, stupid noble," she spoke, a cold glint in her eyes.

Aden clenched his teeth, anger overwhelming the pain within him.

"Ryana, let’s end this quickly. Sothing doesn’t sit right with ," the male assassin finally spoke.

Their conversation were tuned out of Aden’s ears and were replaced by a voice that sounded eerily familiar.

His voice.

’Aden, Aden, Aden. Tut, tut, tut,’ the voice clicked his tongue. ’It would seem you’ve let your master down by letting these fools put you in such a state.’

Shivers ran down his spine, but he replied imdiately:

’They sealed my energy, there’s only so much a normal body can do!’

A chuckle travelled in his head.

’Who says you’re normal?’

’What are you trying to say?’ Aden asked surprisedly.

’I’ll be enjoying the show~’

Aden called out multiple tis, but there was no response.

A fierce kick brought him out of his thoughts and an annoyed voice followed.

"What are you so afraid of?! He’s literally a burned up kid teetering on the edge of death!"

The female assassin’s scream sounded clearly in his ears.

"And it’s not like he has anyone that cares for him either, tsk."

The male assassin tried to calm her down, but she proved stubborn.

Then, a hoarse voice broke their conversation.

"I’ll kill you. I’ll kill everyone you love, I’ll kill everyone you ever loved too."

Shivers ran down their spines, as they imdiately turned their heads to the source of the terrifying promise.

Their faces turned pale.

The air twisted around Aden, a controlled madness in his steps as the transparent energy coated his body.

"W–what?! But how!" Both of them scread, but their battle stances showed their preparedness.

The voice in Aden’s head was right about one thing.

He wasn’t normal.

The ’restrictions’ that were placed on his resonance energy were only ant for those who actually had resonance channels in the first place.

As he took his first step, his master’s words sounded in his head:

’My fatal flaw lays within myself.’

Every thought vanished from his mind as he flashed forward, his fist colliding with the female assassin’s face.

A muffled groan left her lips as she flew backwards.

The man ca out of his shock quickly and threw a kunai at him.

Aden gripped it’s sides automatically as he turned his head to face him.

A cold sweat ran down his back, but he continued his assault.

A flurry of precise blasts made their way in Aden’s direction, but they were dodged easily and his steps were left unhindered as he made his way towards the assassin.

A blue blast streaked toward him. Instead of veering away, Aden did sothing unorthodox.

He coated his arms in a thin layer of Resonance, his eyes locked on the center of the incoming energy. With a sudden thrust forward, his fists t the blast—and it bounced back.

Shock registered on the assassin’s face as the energy returned with blazing intensity.

Before he could react, the returning blast struck the assassin squarely in the face.

A thunderous crack echoed through the trees as his body was thrown backward, skidding across the forest floor. Leaves and dirt exploded around him, embedding into his clothes. He hit a tree with a sickening thud, then slumped to the ground, unmoving.

To confirm, Aden blurred forward, his expression cold as he gripped the deford face of the assassin.

His muscles tensed then a sickening crack followed.

The assassin’s body fell to the floor, the blood spilling from the cracked skull.

Suddenly, a kunai similar to the one that caused the explosion buried itself in his direction.

His expression remained blank. The blood still dripping from his fingers, he picked the weapon.

He spotted the female assasin crouched on a tree, her eyes calculating but her body language reeked of fear.

Aden glanced at the blade once more as he muttered:

"Let

show you how weak you truly are."

The explosion ripped through the jungle, a scorching heat wave lashing outward and leaving charred trees in its wake.

A suffocating weight pressed against the air, and the frightened cries of nearby creatures echoed through the chaos.

Yet, despite this, the assasin remained in her position, her eyes still fixed on Aden.

The smoke cleared and Aden stood unscathed within it, his expression frighteningly calm.

His head raised a little and the assassin’s eyes t his.

Sweat drenched her suit and her expression turned pale. Her fists clenched as she lunged towards him with one thought in her mind:

’We’ve ssed with the wrong person. His energy is that of soone in Attuned realm, but his strength is...’

With her Sais twirled within her fingers, she aid for his head but was t with nothing.

Aden gripped the outstretched arm and slamd her into the soil fluidly.

A groan left her lips, but Aden wasn’t finished.

Five more tis, he slamd her side to side into the soil, creating craters with each collision.

Once he was satisfied, he gripped her neck and looked straight into her eyes.

Slowly, his lips parted, "You’re going to die now."

"W—wait! Please wait!"

Aden didn’t respond, but the slight release in the force that gripped her neck gave her the response.

"I’ll do anything you want! I can tell you who sent us and what he plans to do next!" She pleaded.

Seeing his lack of response, she hesitated for a split second before speaking softly:

"I have valuable information for you when you choose to leave this jungle, just spare my life!"

Aden humd softly, but before he could say anything further, the woman panicked:

"I—i can give you my body if you want...I know great techniques to please beings such as yourself..."

Aden’s eyebrows furrowed for the first ti.

She must’ve mistook his expression for thoughtfulness as she continued:

"Surely, staying in this forest must’ve held your beastly libido down. I can handle it. Unleash your beastly self on —"

*Crack*

As he felt the warmth leave her body, Aden tossed her against a rock with force, causing further deformation.

A look of disgust remained on his face as he vanished from his position.
