Chapter 565: Apocalypse True Daughter Cannon Fodder (36) Chapter 565: Apocalypse True Daughter Cannon Fodder (36) Zuo Xia turned his head at the sound and saw his fiancée, Luo Baomiao.
He was sowhat surprised, but quickly rembered that the Luo Family was also part of the troops heading north with the army.
He showed Luo Baomiao a smile and repeated the words he had with Yu Wei.
Upon hearing that it was Luo Ning’s team that had saved Zuo Xia, a sense of discomfort of various sorts arose within her.
Even more inexplicably, she had the feeling that it should have been her doing the saving.
Nevertheless, with concern on her face, she approached, “Are you alright?”
Zuo Xia smiled and shook his head, “I’m fine now.”
Luo Baomiao then looked him over from head to toe.
When she saw several bandaged wounds on his body, with blood on the bandages,
her face paled, and her eyes quickly reddened, “How did you get so badly hurt? Co and sit down to rest with ; I’ll ask the dical doctor in our team to check on you.”
Among the rged troops were two regular, full-ti dical doctors.
Her deanor not only showed concern, but she also seed to be hurting for her fiancé.
Zuo Xia felt sowhat embarrassed inside.
They were engaged, but due to the distance between their hos, they hadn’t spent much ti together, so their emotions were not very deep. Did she really care for him that much?
Their engagent was initially a verbal agreent made by Luo Baomiao’s grandmother and his grandma years ago.
Later when Luo Baomiao ca to Capital City for a visit, her grandmother brought up the marriage with his Grandma again.
Luo Baomiao was gentle and sweet, and always spoke kindly, so both his grandmother and mother had a favourable impression of her.
Coincidentally, both families had a major business project in the works; a marriage alliance was seen as a form of security, so their families arranged for him to be engaged to Luo Baomiao.
At that ti, he had no one he liked and he wasn’t averse to Luo Baomiao, so he agreed.
Whenever Luo Baomiao visited Capital City, he would take her out for als.
Previously, as the most cherished daughter of the Luo Family, Luo Baomiao was quite proud and her attitude towards him was sotis close, sotis distant, not particularly enthusiastic.
He knew that she liked being pursued, especially by n, but he wasn’t the romantic type.
He even spoke with her privately about the marriage arrangent, saying that if she was unwilling, he wouldn’t force her.
However, Luo Baomiao stated that she was willing, only asking that after the marriage alliance, they respect each other and not interfere with one another’s lives, to which he agreed.
So, they continued to get along, neither close nor distant.
Yet, two years ago, Luo Baomiao began to show him much more enthusiasm, even taking the initiative to call and ask about his life.
At first, he was puzzled, but later found out that she was not actually the biological daughter of the Luo Family, but a child switched at birth, which clarified the reasons behind her change in attitude.
He didn’t mind, though. Having chosen a marriage alliance, he would not cheat after getting married. He would respect her and be a courteous couple.
Then the apocalypse ca.
The joint project between their families naturally fell through.
He had been so busy lately that he had almost forgotten that he had a fiancée.
Moreover, it had been several months since he last saw Luo Baomiao, making their sudden reunion feel strange and distant.
Thus, her intimate and sympathetic deanor made him feel sowhat off.
He declined with a smile, “No need for another check-up, Luo Ning has already stopped the bleeding and bandaged .”
Luo Baomiao’s complexion shifted subtly, had Zuo Xia also been bewitched by Luo Ning?
“I just can’t feel at ease about your injury,” she said, biting her lip. “Let’s have soone else take a look at it again.”
She certainly didn’t want her fiancé owing Luo Ning any favors.
Luo Ning turned to Zuo Xia and said, “Luo Baomiao and I do not get along at all, we’re even incompatible as fire and water. She’s uneasy about the wound I bandaged for you.”
Zuo Xia was taken aback by Luo Ning’s directness, “How could you guys…?”
He wanted to ask how they had beco enemies, and how it had escalated to the extent of being utterly incompatible.
Luo Ning told the truth, “Because her maternal aunt intentionally mixed us up at birth, her biological father and grandmother purposely threw , still an infant, into a garbage heap where I nearly died.”
“After I was recognized and brought back to the Luo Family, she would often flaunt in front of her close relationships with her parents and siblings.”
“She would imply daily that I, being from a small county town and unable to present myself in high society, even as a biological daughter, couldn’t compare to her, the adopted daughter who has been pampered since childhood, aiming to make feel inferior.”
“She often engaged in underhanded tactics, insinuating to her parents and brothers behind my back that I was bullying her, trying to drive her out or sothing similar.”
“In truth, she just wanted to leave, and I complied with her wishes. So I severed ties with my biased biological parents and siblings and left the Luo Family.”
“And now she still keeps by her side those who have hard , protecting them.”
She laughed and said to Zuo Xia, “That’s why I detest her.”
“She despises too.”
“We both can’t stand each other, so the animosity between us is irreconcilable.”
Luo Ning spoke so candidly because they were soon going to arrive at the Kyoto Base, and she needed to spread the word about the deeds done by Luo Baomiao, the adopted daughter of the Luo Family, and the Luo Family itself.
Secondly, it was a declaration to Zuo Xia, aiming to undermine his relationship with Luo Baomiao. Once the seed of doubt is sown, it begins to take root and grow.
It was also, in a way, helping Zuo Xia; otherwise, he would remain oblivious in this life, never knowing how or why he might et his end.
Of course, if Zuo Xia still wished to continue his entanglent with Luo Baomiao after learning her true nature, she would sadly no longer be able to cooperate with him.
The others who had heard Luo Ning’s words weren’t all that surprised; after all, they had witnessed her disdain for Luo Baomiao throughout their journey.
Luo Baomiao had indeed been sowhat pretentious.
But Zuo Xia was full of surprise, on one hand astounded that the person who had saved him was the legitimate daughter of the Luo Family, and on the other hand, he hadn’t expected his fiancée to be such a person.
Following the surprise, it also felt sowhat expected, considering that Luo Baomiao’s change in attitude towards him had started after finding out he wasn’t the biological child of the Luo Family.
The faces of the Luo Family mbers were rather unpleasant; Luo Ning’s statents about their partial parents and siblings were a clear mockery in front of so many.
And yet, they couldn’t refute it, because what she said was true, and they regretted how they had treated her in the past.
Before, when Luo Ning accused Luo Baomiao of implying things about them, they didn’t believe her, thinking Luo Ning wanted to drive Luo Baomiao away.
But now, with Luo Ning having truly severed ties and departed, coupled with the evidence that Luo Baomiao was not as innocent as she seed, they didn’t know why, but they believed it.
There were quite a few wealthy and influential figures present, so they tended to believe what Luo Ning said.
A biological daughter suddenly severing ties with her family and truly ceasing communication—it must be that she had endured too much suffering at ho, to the point of being driven away.
Especially given that the Luo Family mbers had not contested it, it indicated the existence of truth in the matter.
Luo Baomiao truly hadn’t anticipated Luo Ning publicly disclosing their grievances to Zuo Xia.
Her face changed shades, and she reached out to tug at Zuo Xia’s arm, “It’s not like that. I didn’t know anything about what my aunt did. I only found out I wasn’t the daughter of the Luo Family after you returned.”
Now, with the evidence still in the hands of the Luo Family, she could otherwise have denied the intentional switch.
“I really did want to give the position of Lady Luo to Luo Ning, but she didn’t believe and always suspected that I was implicating sothing or acting, but I wasn’t,” she said with a face full of innocent grievance.
