Chapter 434: Chapter 433: A Good Idea Chapter 434: Chapter 433: A Good Idea Jiang Xinxin’s expression remained unchanged as she pretended not to recognize the other party.
“Who are you?”
Lady Luo regarded Jiang Xinxin, a touch of scrutiny in her eyes.
She indeed looked prettier than Lou Yinghua, but in other aspects, Lady Luo saw nothing particularly appealing.
Family Head Luo spoke up first, “We are Luo Yicheng’s parents. We ca today to pay you a visit.”
Hearing this, Lady Luo chose not to speak.
Jiang Xinxin’s deanor was indifferent. “Please co in!”
She then turned and entered the living room ahead of them, not knowing their intentions but sensing that they were up to no good.
Luo Xi didn’t expect these two to be his step-grandparents, and his previously polite smile faded a bit.
His sister had told him about the Luo Family and their attitude after she returned from the island.
These two did not like him or his mother, and he didn’t like them either.
For that reason, he didn’t pay them any mind, following Jiang Xinxin into the house first.
Family Head Luo’s face remained unchanged, but Lady Luo looked extrely displeased.
She snorted coldly, “Is this the way to treat your father-in-law and mother-in-law? Our dear grandson has been corrupted by your teaching.”
She disliked Jiang Xinxin.
When she had first t Luo Xi at the door, he was well-behaved and intelligent, with good looks resembling her son, making a good first impression on her.
But now, seeing Luo Xi adopting his mother’s aloofness, she was particularly unhappy.
This woman had not only led her son astray but also her grandson.
It could be that Luo Ning was so hostile towards the Luo Family because of this woman’s instigation.
Family Head Luo had anticipated the cold reception, “We haven’t acknowledged each other, and Yicheng is still confined at ho. Luo Ning must have said sothing after returning, so it’s not surprising that she’s acting this way.”
Lady Luo disagreed, “Even if we haven’t acknowledged each other, am I not her mother-in-law?”
Family Head Luo suddenly felt weary, “My lady, don’t forget why we ca here today.”
“If you want to completely alienate our son, then go ahead and make a scene here.”
“Moreover, if you think you can outfight Luo Ning, I’ll support you.”
After hearing him, Lady Luo reluctantly snorted coldly, “I’m tolerating her this ti for the sake of our son.”
She knew that the old man harbored a grudge because of Lou Yinghua’s recent situation, and he wasn’t as indulgent and lenient with her as before.
The old man was her support, so she knew when to throw a tantrum and when to hold back.
But she kept a tab on everything in her mind, blaming Jiang Xinxin.
Once that woman went to the island, she would make sure she would properly serve her mother-in-law.
Family Head Luo then escorted Lady Luo inside.
The people inside had also been told by Jiang Xinxin that Luo Yicheng’s parents had arrived.
Mr. Ji was initially considering taking his family to leave, not wanting to intrude on personal matters.
However, Qi Yuelan chose to stay, sitting on the sofa next to Jiang Xinxin.
She was worried the old woman would bully her close friend.
Luo Ning was sowhat surprised by their arrival.
Although she had heard from Lu Xun that the old lady had also co to the Imperial Capital, she had not expected her to visit her ho.
When they ca in, Jiang Xinxin’s attitude remained cold.
“Please take a seat!” Then, without asking them what they wanted to drink, she poured two cups of boiled water and placed them in front of them.
Lady Luo’s displeasure grew even more. She had always been accustod to indulging in either the spring water nurtured by her family’s Mountain or water infused with top-grade tea and flowers.
She frowned in disdain and said, “This is how you treat guests, with just plain boiled water?”
Jiang Xinxin hadn’t even spoken when Luo Ning interjected first.
“Of course we serve good tea to other guests. Even boiling water is more than good enough for you.”
Lady Luo’s face turned unpleasant at the retort. “When elders are speaking, what place does a junior like you have to interject?”
Luo Ning rolled her eyes, “What kind of elder are you? We certainly do not acknowledge the Luo Family, nor do we admit to having elders like you.”
Lady Luo sure had a thick skin.
Knowing that she couldn’t outargue Luo Ning, and having already experienced the girl’s venomous tongue at the exchange eting, Lady Luo turned to Jiang Xinxin instead.
“Is this how you educate your daughter?”
Jiang Xinxin truly possessed a gentle and sensible nature, rarely getting angry or engaging in argunts, but she was by no ans a pushover.
She looked straight at Lady Luo, “I think my daughter is doing just fine.”
Lady Luo laughed angrily, “Being disrespectful to elders is what you call fine?”
Jiang Xinxin’s face held a faint smile, “Respect must be earned. My daughter is very respectful to other elders.”
She was essentially casting direct aspersions on Lady Luo’s lack of respect as an elder.
“You!” Lady Luo didn’t expect Jiang Xinxin to dare mock her, and she was livid.
Family Head Luo interrupted the dispute, “Enough, we did not co here today to bicker.”
He knew that his wife had been a rich girl in the Lou Family and had beco the Family Head’s Wife upon joining the Luo Family.
Whatever she did, she acted superior, and with his indulgence, she was used to venting her frustrations openly—no one dared to argue with her or talk back.
So when it ca to arguing or making sarcastic remarks, his wife was utterly outmatched by Luo Ning and Jiang Xinxin.
He too felt so discontent toward Jiang Xinxin, his daughter-in-law, for her lack of respect for elders.
However, for the sake of today’s purpose, he wouldn’t pick a fight in public like his wife had.
Jiang Xinxin, not wanting to beat around the bush either, asked, “Then why have you co?”
Family Head Luo looked gently at Luo Xi, “We ca to see our grandson.”
He had intended to say he wanted to see both his grandson and granddaughter, but fearing that Luo Ning would latch onto those words for ridicule, he left it halfway.
Luo Xi had a good temperant, but he wasn’t one to be molded by others.
“What’s there to see about ? I do not recognize the Luo Family, just like my sister.”
Not recognizing the Luo Family naturally ant not recognizing his grandparents either.
Lady Luo, seeing even her obedient grandson being so rebelliously unyielding, lost whatever modicum of positive impression she had left.
She wanted to speak but was stopped by Family Head Luo, who touched her hand and pinched it gently.
Family Head Luo addressed Luo Xi, “Whether you acknowledge it or not, the blood of the Luo Family still flows through your veins.”
“We have co not only to see you but also to convey your father’s intentions.”
It had been a long ti since Luo Xi had seen his father, whom he missed dearly, so he asked with concern, “What’s with Dad?”
Family Head Luo responded, “Your father is in the midst of cultivation at the Luo Family. He wants to bring you back ho, but it’s a critical ti for him, so we, your grandparents, have personally co to the Imperial Capital hoping to take you back to reunite with him.”
Of course, Luo Xi wanted to reunite with his father, but he found his grandfather’s words untrustworthy.
He didn’t say anything but looked to his sister instead.
Luo Ning was sowhat taken aback by Old Man Luo’s words. Was this stubbornness not working, so he was trying a softer approach?
Or perhaps the old man knew that he couldn’t control her father for much longer, so he wanted to employ a strategy of appeasent by coaxing the three of them back to the Luo Family in order to keep her father there.
And of course, if they agreed to return to the Luo Family, the Yanyue Blade would naturally be brought back as well.
The old man indeed had deep sches, plotting a good ga.
