On the fourth day of the lunar new year, Mo Qishen took Ni Yang and Zhao Yu to Shanghai to wish Elder Du a happy new year.
The Du estate was very tranquil; although New Year couplets and paper-cuts were posted everywhere, there was not the slightest festive atmosphere. The overall feeling it gave was one of serenity.
"Happy New Year, Big Brother Du."
Elder Du had no idea that Mo Qishen would co back today, and he was montarily taken aback before asking, "Pei Zhi, when did you all arrive?"
"We ca right after getting off the train."
Zhao Yu glanced inside the house, "Elder Du, how co I haven’t seen your chatty madam today?"
The chatty madam referred to, of course, was Zhou Zixian.
Elder Du said, "She is resting inside. Why, do you miss her? If you do, I can have soone call her over right away."
"I don’t miss her at all," continued Zhao Yu. "What’s there to miss about a woman?"
She was just a little curious; with Zhou Zixian’s character, she shouldn’t be absent from this type of occasion.
Ni Yang asked with so curiosity, "Big Brother Du, how co I haven’t seen Sister Jiaojiao?"
Elder Du replied, "She should be out playing with so young ladies."
"I see." Ni Yang nodded.
Zhao Yu, being lively by nature, found it boring to just sit around, so she dragged Ni Yang to wander around the Du estate. Last year, she had familiarized herself with every corner of the estate.
The Du estate was very large, and the scenery inside was very beautiful. Because it had just snowed, everything was covered in a white, idyllic blanket.
Ni Yang was staring blankly at a blooming crane flower orchid when suddenly, a snowball flew towards her and hit her squarely on the shoulder.
Turning around, Ni Yang saw Du Jiaojiao looking at her with a smile, "Beautiful lady, co on and hit back!"
Ni Yang casually grabbed a snowball and chased after Du Jiaojiao; soon enough, Zhao Yu also joined in on the ’war’.
In no ti, the courtyard was filled with laughter and joyful voices.
Chu Xiangyi, accompanied by Chu Yuehong, ca walking from the end of the corridor, turned her head to look at the three people having a snowball fight in the garden, and asked curiously, "Those two girls look unfamiliar, who are they?"
Chu Yuehong stepped forward and draped a cape over Chu Xiangyi, "I heard that Mr. Mo, elder brother’s good friend, ca over. One of those two girls should be Mr. Mo’s girlfriend, and the other is their adopted daughter."
Chu Xiangyi adjusted the cape and gave a small cough, "I heard that Pei Zhi’s girlfriend is very pretty and likes to wear cheongsams. The girl in the light pink cheongsam with a beige coat over it must be his girlfriend, right?"
Chu Xiangyi and Elder Du both particularly liked traditional clothes, so most of her outfits were old-fashioned blouses with traditional skirts. She had never worn a cheongsam like the one Ni Yang was wearing.
"Pei Zhi’s girlfriend is indeed a charming lady."
Chu Yuehong continued, "Sister Xiangyi, you are not well, so don’t expose yourself to the cold; let’s go back inside."
Chu Xiangyi shook her head, "It’s okay, staying inside all day is too stifling, it’s good to co out for so fresh air."
Just then, Du Jiaojiao, who was making a snowball, suddenly spotted Chu Xiangyi; she called over to Zhao Yu and Ni Yang, "Duoduo, Beautiful Lady, let’s call a truce! I’ll take you to et a new friend!"
Zhao Yu set down her snowball, looking curious, "Who is it?"
With a laugh, Du Jiaojiao dusted the snow from her hair, "Co with and you’ll see."
Zhao Yu frowned slightly, "I hope it’s not soone like Zhou Zixian."
Laughing, Du Jiaojiao reassured her, "Don’t worry, it certainly isn’t."
Du Jiaojiao led Ni Yang and Zhao Yu over to Chu Xiangyi.
"Xiangyi, let introduce you. This is Pei Zhi’s girlfriend, Ni Yang, and this is their adopted daughter, Zhao Yu, also known as Duoduo. Beautiful Lady, Duoduo, this is my third brother’s aunt, Chu Xiangyi."
"Nice to et you, sister-in-law," Ni Yang greeted politely.
Chu Xiangyi truly lived up to being an aunt; her deanor and looks were top-notch, exuding the grace of a lady from a prestigious family. One could tell from her countenance that Chu Xiangyi was a very amiable person.
"Hello, Aunt," Zhao Yu also greeted.
Smiling, Chu Xiangyi said, "Hello, I’ve long heard that Pei Zhi found a very beautiful girlfriend, and today I finally see her in person. Miss Ni is even more beautiful than the rumors say."
From a distance, Ni Yang already seed very pretty, but upon closer look, she was simply stunning; her delicate features were nearly flawless.
"You flatter , Sister-in-law. Just call Yangyang," Ni Yang responded with a smile.
