Chapter 613: Chapter Six Hundred and Nineteenth

Receiving such an answer, Chen Li wasn’t surprised at all; it could be considered as sothing expected. After a man cheats, it’s usually one of those few excuses, designed to deal with the neglect of his wife.

“Have you felt any difference in General Han’s attitude toward you?” Chen Li asked with so sympathy, clearly hinting at sothing. Although Su Wenyue could be sowhat too naive at tis, she was still a smart person and should understand the implication behind her words.

Preoccupied with her own concerns, Su Wenyue felt particularly sensitive and naturally understood, “What do you an by that, Miss Chen? Are you trying to tell sothing?”

Chen Li sighed; since she had co today, of course, she planned to tell Su Wenyue everything without intending to hide anything. She was about to speak when Su Wenyue interrupted her.

Seeing the expression on Chen Li’s face, Su Wenyue felt even more downhearted, but no matter how anxious she was, she didn’t forget that the children were still around. No matter what happened between the adults, it shouldn’t affect the children. In her previous life, she wasn’t a good mother, and in this life, she paid extra attention to her children.

“I have sothing to discuss with Aunt Chen. Brother Xing, could you take your younger brother and sister back first? Mother will co to see you later, okay?” Su Wenyue spoke softly, still with her usual deanor, not wanting the children to sense anything amiss.

However, all three children were very clever and alert; they overheard the conversation and suspected that what Aunt Chen was about to say next must be related to Dad. They also wanted to know, but since Mother wanted them to leave, it was clear she didn’t want them to know.

Brother Chen and Sister Yu exchanged glances and both turned to Brother Xing, waiting for him to make a decision. Since they were little, they had always followed Brother Xing, who even took on so of the responsibilities of a parent, and they always listened to their big brother. Whenever there was an issue they couldn’t handle, they waited for Brother Xing to decide.

As clever as Brother Chen and Sister Yu were, they were still just children. Although they guessed that the matter might be related to Dad, they didn’t press further. But Brother Xing wasn’t really a child, and considering the questions Chen Li had asked, coupled with her sympathetic deanor, he almost imdiately guessed what the matter was about.

“Mother, why don’t you let us stay? What Aunt Chen has to say is related to Dad, isn’t it? We have all grown up, we’re not children anymore; we can share Mother’s burden. Please let us stay,” Brother Xing said, but seeing the disapproval on Su Wenyue’s face, he quickly changed his words.

“Otherwise, let the younger brother and sister go back first, and I’ll stay. As the eldest son, I should be aware of the household affairs.”

They also wanted to stay, but Brother Chen and Sister Yu, unhappy with Brother Xing pushing them out, swallowed their dissatisfaction after receiving a warning glance from him. Clearly, Brother Xing was very successful in establishing his image as the authoritative big brother.

“Please let stay, Mother,” Brother Xing said eagerly, truly anxious and worried that Mother might not cope with the truth. He wanted to stay by her side to care for and comfort her because in their previous life, it was due to the indifference and lack of attention from Father that Mother’s heart grew cold, leading her to make so many mistakes, resulting in an irretrievable situation.

As for the integrity of his Father, Brother Xing had indeed considered this issue, especially since Dad had remarried and taken several concubines in their previous life.

Seeing Su Wenyue starting to speak, Chen Li rembered the children were still present, realizing it wasn’t really appropriate to discuss such matters, especially given the children’s reactions, which were indeed heart-wrenching. She didn’t want the children to bear so much at a young age, so she joined in persuading, “Brother Xing, do as your Mother says, and take your younger brother and sister back first, okay? The matter Auntie wants to talk about is so outside business, not suitable for children to know.”

Brother Xing hated his age once more; he wasn’t really a child, and naturally didn’t want to be treated like one.

“Aunt Chen, I’m not little anymore. I’ve already been studying with a tutor and understand many principles. Moreover, now that Father isn’t here, I am the eldest son in the family. Sotis, Father also tells about outside matters. You just say whatever you need to say,” he insisted.

Chen Li found it endearing to see Brother Xing acting like a little adult. If the upcoming discussion weren’t so inappropriate, she would really like to keep this clever young one with her.

“Alright, alright, Aunt Chen knows you’ve grown up and beco sensible. But the matter I’m about to discuss is a secret between your Mother and , and not suitable for you to hear. Everyone has their own secrets, and with you two being so smart and understanding, I believe you can surely empathize, right?” she cajoled.

Still using that patronizing tone with children, Brother Xing felt frustrated but couldn’t find the words to argue back against Chen Li, his gaze turning toward Mother. Seeing the clear disagreent in Mother’s eyes, his heart sank, but he still wanted to try once more, he really wasn’t at ease, “Mother, I…”

“That’s enough, Brother Xing. Mother knows you’re a sensible and filial child, but so matters are between adults. Taking good care of your younger brother and sister is helping Mother enough. Be obedient!” Su Wenyue emphasized the last two words, clearly resolute.

Seeing Mother’s firm stance, Brother Xing knew she would not change her mind, and nodded sowhat dejectedly.

“Don’t worry, nothing bad will happen here. Even if there is anything, I still have the three of you as siblings, and for your sake, I will stay strong. Besides, I believe in your Father,” Su Wenyue knew Brother Xing was worried about her, and couldn’t bear to let him worry. She stroked his head to comfort him.

Hearing Su Wenyue’s words, the worry on Brother Xing’s face finally eased sowhat, and he obediently took his younger brother and sister out.

“These three children are really sensible, and just looking at them warms the heart. Having such children is your blessing, Madam Han. For won, children are indeed the most important. Isn’t that right, Madam Han?” Chen Li tried to offer so comfort to Su Wenyue in advance, as Su Wenyue’s tone had clearly shown she still had faith in Han Yu. Chen Li hoped Su Wenyue wouldn’t be too heartbroken upon realizing Han Yu’s betrayal.

“Now that the children have left, Miss Chen, feel free to speak your mind; there’s no need to hold back,” she urged.

“Then I’ll speak frankly. Sister Yue, don’t be too heartbroken. After all, who can live without whom in this world? Besides, Sister Yue, you have three such sensible children. As for n, you don’t need to take them too seriously. Just take the man I had my eye on, for instance. He’s the epito of unfaithfulness and indifference. He has eyes only for his career and nothing else. General Han is still better than him,” Chen Li said, using a term of endearnt to provide so comfort to Su Wenyue in advance.

Hearing this, Su Wenyue knew that Chen Li ant well; otherwise, why would she compare herself? Her expression softened a bit, “If Miss Chen doesn’t mind, I’ll call you Lady Li. Lady Li, I know you an well. Please speak frankly; I can take it.”
