“Big brother, am I seeing things? That looks like Mother, doesn’t it?” Brother Chen stared blankly at the figure approaching them.
“Big brother, that woman does look like Mother, but she seems a bit thinner. Could soone be impersonating her?” Sister Yu followed up.
At that mont, Brother Xing couldn’t care less about the younger ones, as his eyes followed the familiar figure drawing near. He had stayed strong and not cried during these days, but now, tears welled up in his eyes.
“Are you stupid? Our mother is so beautiful, who else could impersonate her? It’s definitely our mother, no mistake. It looks like Dad is by her side. I hope Dad hasn’t been mistreating Mother. I heard Hu Wa, the kid next door, say that his dad has another woman and doesn’t like his mother anymore. He and that bad woman are mistreating his mom, and she has beco very skinny,” Brother Chen seriously speculated.
“You are the stupid one. Dad loves Mother the most. He wouldn’t like any other bad woman. Our mother is so beautiful, and Dad isn’t foolish, he definitely wouldn’t mistreat Mother,” Sister Yu argued. Since Han Yu, their father, favored Sister Yu more than Brother Xing and Brother Chen because she was a girl, Dad held a significant place in Sister Yu’s heart; she couldn’t stand to hear Brother Chen speak ill of him.
Brother Chen’s eyes spun around: “How would you know? You’re the silly one. A man’s heart is unfathomable, like a needle at the bottom of the ocean; he falls in love with every woman he sees. Otherwise, why would he send Mother and us away? He must have fallen for another bad woman.”
At this ti, Brother Xing’s mood had improved a little. Hearing his younger brother and sister’s conversation, a few taphorical black lines appeared on his forehead. What a chaotic ss of words, likely picked up from playing outside.

Seeing their elder brother running ahead, the two little ones, not to be outdone, quickly chased after him.
Su Wenyue was led by the Feng family’s servants to a quaint small courtyard, which turned out to be where the children had been staying during this ti. The environnt was quite nice. Su Wenyue was observing and just about to head inside when she saw three little figures running toward her. Before she could react, they crashed into her embrace. If Han Yu hadn’t been there to support her, she might have fallen over from the impact. Yet, being bumped into didn’t upset Su Wenyue; instead, she bead with a delighted, almost foolish smile.
Brother Xing and Brother Chen, having run the fastest, were the first to reach Su Wenyue’s embrace. Sister Yu, a bit slower, seeing Mother’s embrace occupied, threw herself into Father’s arms. This made Han Yu’s initially sowhat dark expression brighten instantly; in his heart, only one thought prevailed: Daughters are indeed the best; daughters are considerate and know how to cherish their dad. Those two rascally boys didn’t even glance his way.
As for the fact that Sister Yu turned to Daddy’s embrace because she couldn’t get to Mother’s, Han Yu conveniently ignored it. He was now certain of one thing: daughters are more affectionate.
“Mother! Mother!” Brother Xing and Brother Chen, not content with just being in Su Wenyue’s arms, jostled each other, each wanting to hog more of Mother’s attention. Fearing his wife might tire, Han Yu set Sister Yu down and plucked the two little rascals out of Su Wenyue’s arms, one in each hand.
“You two rascals, quite sturdy for your size. There’s a bit of heft when I pick you up,” Han Yu remarked, his words laced with satisfaction. Not just about Brother Xing and Brother Chen, but even Sister Yu, when held, had a substantial weight. Seeing the three healthy and robust little ones, the daughter-in-law could now rest easy. In the beginning, Han Yu was worried that the three little ones, without their parents by their side, might not have been well-cared for and would be thin and weak. After all, everyone said how pitiable the three children were. It seed his worries were unfounded.
