There was an uncomfortable stillness at the table. There were now four chairs at the table, and one was staring at soone while the other two hid in sha.
"Let's leave," murmured Gabriel to Eveline, embarrassed. His palm clutched the hem of her sleeves like an innocent kid seeking only to escape.
"By the way, Miss Sherlyn, how do you know my uncle?" Eveline snatched his hand away. Her eyes were drawn to the lady in front of her.
"We went to the sa university," Kaden said, capturing Sherlyn's anxious gaze. His jaw clenched all along.
"Is that so? but how did you connect" Eveline disregarded Kaden's somber glare and continued to converse with Sherlyn.
Through her observation, she could tell that this lady indeed had affections for her uncle, and vice versa. They were, nevertheless, thinking about it.
anwhile, Kaden experienced a loss of patience. He did not anticipate Eveline abruptly interrupting his ti with Sherlyn. Furthermore, he did not want Sherlyn to feel uneasy about her clear remark.
Kaden wasn't sure Sherlyn would consider him more than a buddy. He was even skeptical that she had soone in her life, which is why he was hesitant to acknowledge his feelings. But now when he thinks about their conversation they had a while ago, a sense of contentnt sweeps over his heart, and his lips perk slightly.
"Is this sothing interesting, uncle? why do you seem to be smiling at the ntion of it" Eveline's eager voice took his smile away, leaving him with a gloomy expression.
"There is nothing fascinating about how we t or connected. She is only a friend with whom I was having dinner until you decided to interrupt." Kaden's tone was fraught with resentnt.
"I need to speak with my sister about her daughter's recent behavior."
"Kaden" Sherlyn, who felt uncomfortable, attempted to stop him from being harsh to his niece.
Kaden turned away to find Gabriel beaming faintly at him. He carefully leaned in and whispered, "Stop her before it's too late."
Gabriel gasped and looked at Eveline, who was talking to Sherlyn.
"I hope we can catch up more. It would be enjoyable to get to know you, aunt. Eveline was blatant in her statents, taking every opportunity to embarrass Kaden.
"Eveline, I think we should leave." Just in ti, Gabriel grabbed Eveline's hand, interrupting their conversation.
Sherlyn, who was enjoying her company, looked at Gabriel, who apologized, and the pair left, finally giving the two so alone ti.
"Your niece is cute," Sherlyn could not help but complint Eveline.
"She is, but only when she is curious about sothing," Kaden mumbled, prompting Sherlyn to smile.
"I'm sorry if she made you feel uncomfortable," he apologized for Eveline's unexpected interruption.
"No, she didn't; in fact, she's a pleasant person to be around," Sherlyn corrected.
"By the way, I had no idea you'd smile while reading my text," she joked, startling Kaden, but he imdiately collected himself and responded.
"I'm looking forward to hearing from you these days. It makes feel alive."
Sherlyn was taken aback by Kaden's statents. Sherlyn was taken aback by his candidness, causing her to blush.
Kaden, on the other hand, couldn't help but smile when he saw how much he affected her.
"I am glad you don't have a boyfriend," he said, catching Sherlyn's hesitant gaze on him.
The way he spoke stirred her heart. He had never expressed his feelings so candidly, yet his words caused her heart to sway to his lodies.
" too," she said, concealing her flush.

anwhile, Eveline was shooting daggers at Gabriel for lying to her and dragging her out of the hotel.
"You're no fun, Gabby. I was just a step away from knowing the woman who piqued Uncle Kaden's interest," she whined, but Gabriel ignored her complaints and unlocked the car door for her.
"You were really making things awkward there, Eve. It's hardly polite to ruin soone's night," Gabriel said, being practical.
He had no intention of interrupting Kaden's supper with Sherlyn, but he was too late because Eveline had already moved to their table.
Eveline huffed. She knew her actions were improper, but she was interested in the woman Kaden was chatting with, and her suspicions were confird when she t her in person.
"I was just curious," she whispered, leading Gabriel to roll his eyes with defeat.
He started the car, and they quickly drove off.
Gabriel was surprised to find Dr. Sherlyn with Kaden. If he hadn't discovered their friendship since university, he could have doubted their eting.
However, the realization of their natural connection eased his anxieties. He wondered if Kaden was suspicious of his Erna, but to his relief, he wasn't, and it was simply a delightful eting from their end.
"Now, why do you look so distressed? Eveline interrupted Gabriel's thought process, saying, "I was just trying to play cupid."
He considered if he should tell her what he was thinking. However, he ultimately decided to remain silent and adapt to the situation.
"I'm not upset." I was wondering about you, Dad. Did you hear from him about his visit with the doctor?" he inquired, diverting the subject.
Eveline went silent. "No, he did not. Perhaps I should call him instead."
"No wait, let's go ho and talk to him in person," Gabriel said, and Eveline shoved her phone back into her pocket, agreeing.

After supper, Kaden and Sherlyn exited the restaurant.
"I had no idea Jonathan Miller was your brother-in-law," Sherlyn replied, halting in front of her car.
"We never acknowledge him after he took my sister away," claims Kaden. His tone was filled with regret.
Sherlyn never t Kaden's family and instead learned about them from him. However, because Jonathan Miller is a well-known figure in the business sector, she recognized Eveline and made the necessary connections.
"By the way, he visited the clinic today," she continued, seeing his countenance change, but what he said next surprised her.
"I know. I saw him on my way to et you."
"..."
"You ca to et ?" she questioned, surprised by his words.
"Yes, I was worried after you ignored last night," he said, taking a step closer to her.
Sherlyn was intrigued by Kaden's eyes. She feared that anything she saw would be a falsehood.
"Why were you worried?" she said again, seeing him get closer to her until there was only a small distance between them.
"Because I thought I did sothing that prevented you from talking to ," Kaden whispered, his fingers softly settling on her face.
Sherlyn's heart hamred inside her ribs, her eyes blinking in response to his touch, and she felt it happen again. Her emotions were bubbling up.
"I never intend to," she stated after considerable difficulty.
"That's good because after today we are going out and I don't want you to ignore ."
