Stefan hastily left the lunch table due to a call from Gabriel, but he promised her that everything was fine and that he would discuss it with her later.

Ella didn't bother him much and consented to it as she and Michelle proceeded to eat lunch together.

Once finished, the daughter and mother decided to sit in the living room, when Michelle asked a question.

"I considered myself to be worthy enough to know what was happening in my daughter's life" Her gaze searched for a sense of assurance that would alleviate her worries.

She believed Ella was capable of dealing with her challenges, but as her mother, she wanted to know if her child was okay with everything that had occurred.

If she hadn't sensed anything amiss that night when she unexpectedly contacted her, she wouldn't have pestered Stefan to find out what was going on with Ella and why she appeared so distressed.

Ella knew what she was saying and regretted not letting her mother know sooner.

"I felt I could do it on my own. Furthermore, you have always been concerned for , so I—"

"So you kept your mother away from the sorrow you were silently experiencing? Is that what you want to say?" Michelle never wanted Ella to keep things to herself, especially when things were difficult for her to handle, but her upbringing had given her the independence she needed to deal with her issues on her own.She attributed so of the guilt to herself. If she had been brave enough to handle things properly, life would not have been so unfair to her.

Ella, on the other hand, lowered her head. She was aware that she was to bla, but she did not want to inform her mother about her interactions with Priscilla. But now that she had made up her mind, perhaps she would have had the strength to tell her mother long ago instead of keeping it to herself.

"I'm sorry, Mom, but I didn't want you to be hurt by it," Ella apologized.

Mischelle pursed her lips and cradled Ella's cheek.

"You will harm , Ella, whether you disguise it or not. You are a part of , and everything you bring will affect ."

Ella's heart tightened at hearing her words. She knew her mother would be affected by even the smallest difficulty, and she did not want to stress her or jeopardize her health.

"Mom, did dad really ran away because he wasn't ready to take our responsibility" Ella put her anxieties aside and proceeded to confront her mother.

Mischelle was astonished by her remarks. Why would she raise this question after so many years?

Ella continued to stare into her mother's eyes, her hand slowly falling from her face, and because her inquiry caught her off guard, she resisted eting her gaze.

"W-why would you ask it Ella" Mischelle faltered beneath her waiting gaze, which refused to leave her despite her efforts to escape them. She could feel her palms sweating in fear.

"Because I know he didn't actually run away from his responsibilities," Ella explained, leaving Michelle stunned in her seat.

"I know he fled, but not because he was a coward, but because he couldn't accept the fact that I wasn't his daughter." As those words left her mouth, Ella felt every fiber in her body vibrate. It was difficult, but the truth prevailed, no matter how hard her mother fought it.

Michelle's face beca ghastly white. "She knew everything," was all she could think of as she glanced at her daughter, who was silently weeping in front of her.

"Who is my father, Mom?" Ella inquired, prompting Mischele to ball her fist tightly.

She never expected Ella to hear the truth about her birth since Grey confronted her after discovering she lied about her pregnancy and married him.

"Ella, please listen to first. How could you--no, who taught you this nonsense?" she inquired forcefully. It was difficult for her ex-husband to return and reveal the truth. So, how did she locate it?

Ella gave her mother a pained expression. Her remarks were filled with desperation, adding to her misery.

"Priscilla, whose mother and father eloped," she revealed, leaving Mischelle astonished.

All these years, she felt Grey fled because he was unwilling to accept responsibility, but it ca out he was also cheating on her. She agreed to lie about conceiving another person's child, but how could she tell them she had been taken advantage of that night? She was drugged to satiate soone's need, and Ella was the result of that terrible night.

Only Ella knew how she rushed away from there after discovering who she slept with, leaving her job and returning ho to her family. She had a boyfriend at the ti, but despite her commitnt to marriage, she fell victim to soone's desire. She kept it a secret to avoid her family losing face as a result of her actions.

But after a month of missing her period, she decided to go to the doctor, only to discover that she was pregnant. However, it was too late; she and Grey had planned to marry the next month.

Scared, she kept her pregnancy a secret, but Grey heard about it after their marriage and distanced himself, only to depart their lives without saying anything.

Now she thinks about it, he was never to bla. She was at responsible for everything, and if he found soone else after discovering her lie, she had nothing to be sorry about. The truth would have co out eventually, as she had ant to tell him herself. However, that never happened, and she persisted in making everyone believe the allegations.

Mischelle closed her eyes, attempting to quiet her thoughts. Without a doubt, that girl continued to target Ella for years. She was able to remove Ella from that stressful situation at the ti, but it did not help, and for many years, the girl troubled her daughter since she blad Grey for ruining her family.

"You do not need to know him, Ella. You are only my daughter, and there is no need for you to find out who gave birth to you," Mischelle stated, putting an end to her desperation and leaving for her bed.
