"Aunt Belle, there is sothing I want to tell you," Eveline said, flashing her apprehensive eyes at Belle.

Belle could feel the strain grow in her bones. Eveline's eyes were filled with anguish, squeezing her gut.

"Tell ," she stated.

Eveline closed her eyes and took a big breath."I think Mom is alive," she revealed, shocking Belle.

"Erna? Alive? How is this possible? She got shot in the heart. Her chances of survival were extrely low. How can she—"

Belle abruptly stopped talking when she realized what she was saying, but Eveline's calm expression made her uncomfortable.

"So you know she was shot." Eveline smiled in unexpectedness.

"How many things have been kept secret from , Aunt Belle?" She inquired, her eyes inquisitive.

Her heart was becoming increasingly unclear, and she suspected that everyone around her was deceiving her in so manner.

Belle dropped her eyes in sha. She understood that no matter how hard she tried to rationalize her behavior, she was at fault for keeping everything from Eveline.

She loves the girl so much that her affection prevented her from confronting the pain. But why would she claim that Erna was alive?

Because that cannot be.

"I won't excuse my conduct, Eveline, because I was rely carrying out my responsibility as your father's friend. And I was aware of why I couldn't decline. But we still want you to believe us."

The secrets we guarded were just to shield you from the person who was after your family."

Regardless, Belle would stick to her decision.

"But concerning your mother, how can you say sothing like that? Your mother is more."

Eveline was now confident that Belle was unaware of the sche her father had devised without their awareness. They knew her mother died from a gunshot, but she had no idea she survived.

"I'm not lying, Aunt Belle. "I have proof," she stated confidently.

Eveline couldn't deny that she wasn't completely convinced by her mother's death, but with Kaden confirming her suspicions, she was now satisfied her intuitions weren't entirely incorrect.

The only thing left to do was find out where her father had hidden her mother.

Belle, on the other hand, could feel a wet feeling rising in the pit of her stomach. She felt chills crawl across her skin, and the prospect of Eveline being correct caused her to question Jonathan.

"Does that an Jonathan was not only deceiving Eveline but also them?"

On the way to work, Richard continued looking at Gabriel, hoping to strike up a discussion. However, he was resisting because he believed it was not appropriate to investigate.

Whatever he heard on the phone just now made him anxious, and he couldn't figure out what to think about it.

"What is it that you want to ask, Dad?" Gabriel inquired after witnessing his father hesitating whether to initiate a discussion with him.

Gabriel returned the phone to his pocket and turned to face his father.

Richard had never been so afraid to speak with Gabriel, but he was unsure how he should.

"Blake Willow, is he serious about the deal?" He eventually asked.

Richard knew Gabriel intended to work with E&K Groups, but he wasn't sure if the old guy was trustworthy enough for them to collaborate with.

Gabriel, on the other hand, had anticipated what was to co, so he had no need to be concerned about being questioned about it. So, when his father eventually asked the question, he nodded.

"As you heard on the call, he is on his way to the office to finalize the deal," Gabriel explained calmly.

Richard had admired his son's patience. However, his peacefulness sparked a worry in his heart.

Gabriel was capable, Richard knew, but the man he was attempting to collaborate with was not soone they could blindly trust.

"I understand that it is fully up to you to make the decision, but I would recomnd that you consider whether the man is faithful enough not to turn his back on you. He is adept at misleading others." Richard advised.

Gabriel caught a flicker of hatred in his eyes. He knew who Blake was, which is why he was attempting to warn him.

However, based on what he observed and knew, it was evident that the man regretted every decision in his life.

The guilt was clear, yet there was no way to repent.

"I know what I'm doing, Dad, and believe , if I wasn't confident in him, I would not have agreed to it. That old man needs an escape, and for years he had been attempting to seek help from us, and now it's ti to spare him a chance." Gabriel examined through Blake's intentions and was sure that the man had no ulterior agenda.

He simply needed a way out of the maze he had found himself in, and his only hope was them.

"If you say so, then I guess you have thought through everything." Richard did not say anything. He'd let his son handle the rest.

They soon arrived at the company and proceeded to their separate floors.

Leon and Roger were already waiting in Gabriel's cabin when he entered there. His expression fell as he couldn't find Blake, only the assistant, despite the fact that they were ant to sign the agreent in the presence of the old man.

Gabriel and Leon exchanged glances before Gabriel made his way to the executive seat.

"I assud the contract was to be signed in front of two supervisors. "Where is Mr. Willow?" he questioned, peering directly into Roger's eyes.

"I sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Winston, but Boss couldn't make it due to an unanticipated health situation. But he requested that I sign the agreent notwithstanding his absence." Roger stated.

Gabriel furrowed his brow, finding Roger's statents ludicrous given that he had just received confirmation from Blake about the deal and how he was now not feeling well.

What's going on?

"Then I think we should postpone the signing process until Mr. Willow is back," Gabriel told the crowd.

Roger's deanor was apprehensive, but he nodded in accord.

Roger remarked, "Then I'll take my leave," before exiting the office.

"Leon, look into what is wrong with Mr. Willow and why he was unable to attend the signing process. Also, have soone follow this assistant," he continued, as Leon retreated, following his boss's orders.

Gabriel couldn't stop thinking about Blake until he discovered why he hadn't co here.

As he pondered, his phone rang, and it was Eveline. He answered imdiately, and to his astonishnt, she did not say anything.

Gabriel sensed the heavy silence between them and decided to break the ice.

"Eve, talk to ," he pleaded, her quit worrying him.

Normally, she would talk to her heart's content, but when she was sad or feeling lost, she would completely mute herself and allow her thoughts to take over.

"Gabriel, I need to see you right now," she said after a long pause, and then the door to his office opened, and Eveline dashed over to him.

Gabriel imdiately stood up, and Eveline blushed into his arm. Eveline tried her hardest not to let her emotions flare after what happened with Belle in the greenhouse, but she failed, and Gabriel was the only one who could calm her down.

She was terrified as she realized what she was getting herself into. Knowing how vicious individuals in her family were, she couldn't force herself to think clearly.

She was a Miller, and knowing how her family had endured a terrible fate, she began to understand why Jedrick despised her father so much.

He was a devil in disguise who wanted nothing more than vengeance for what had been taken from him, and now that she had thought everything through, it was evident that the person after her parents was none other than Jedrick.

He was responsible for everything.

"I know who is behind everything," she mumbled, prompting Gabriel to draw her away, although his hands remained on her shoulder.

They both spoke in unison while holding their gazes.

"Jedrick," as soon as the word left their tongue, their brows furrowed, but an unexpected pounding on the door jolted them out, and they saw Leon make his way inside.

When he noticed the two, his steps ca to a halt, and he lowered his gaze awkwardly.

Gabriel let go of Eveline's shoulder and grabbed her hand, interlocking his fingers with hers.

"What do you have in store, Leon?" he inquired, and the man eventually looked up.

"Mr. Blake has indeed suffered an unexpected health issue, but there is sothing else that I have gotten my hands into," he said, his serious face causing Gabriel and Eveline to exchange curious glances.

"Mr. Blake has been prescribed sleeping drugs, and taking them on a daily basis has gradually begun to harm his health. He was expected to join the signing procedure today, but he never awoke. He is currently receiving treatnt at Healthcare Hospital under watchful supervision."

Gabriel and Eveline were both taken aback by the revelation and wondered if the elderly man would survive. However, Gabriel's eyes darkened, and his mind suddenly clicked.

"I know who is behind this," he said, seizing both of their attention towards him.
