Simultaneously, he looked at his right side, saw his severed wrist and the scroll, and clicked his tongue.

If he wanted to get back that scroll and his wrist, he had to kill Baron and Abium.

'With my current condition, it's almost impossible.' That masked Assassin sighed helplessly.

He didn't expect that a single 'retrieval' mission would turn into a bloody massacre because of a slight miscalculation about this half-elf strength.

'Be wary of that half-elf. That kid's strength may be only equal to a second-tier, but his sword skills are top-notched. Closely observe his every action and kill him if a chance appears.'

He recalled Watson's earlier warning and shook his head.

'Anyway, I already took the black book and did my job perfectly.'

While he was in deep thoughts, Baron's disciple started moving stealthily towards the scroll, but Baron's rough voice halted his footsteps.

"Don't do anything funny, Giles!"

At the sa ti, Baron pointed his sword at Giles and questioned him harshly.

"Why did you push this half-elf towards the enemy?"

"Teacher, I-I... di-didn't an to do that. I just thought that pushing him might save your life. He didn't die, right?"

Giles replied in a nervous tone at Baron's inquiry.

anwhile, Abium also listened to their quarrels and soon frowned. He had heard that na nurous tis in the past.

'Giles... Where did I hear that na before? Yes!'

"As I thought, it's you, isn't it?" This update ıs available on novelFɪre

Abium turned his gaze towards Giles and sized him up and down.

He now understood why Giles did that. Others might have thought that Giles acted out of desperation to save Baron.

But Abium knew the real reason and snorted.

Nobody understood why Baron Auguinare got assassinated in the past, and it remained a mystery to everyone in the Dust Gate town. Most people thought it was a personal grudge, while so said that assassins from the Wadel kingdom killed him.

But a soldier who survived this assassination told everyone that one of the Baron's disciples was the one who plotted this whole assassination.

But nobody believed his words. Baron raised all three of his disciples like his own children, so everyone thought that soldier said a lie.

To everyone's surprise, that soldier eventually died a week later due to severe wounds.

So questioned his sudden death, and a few even brought it to the Royal Family's higher officials.

After the kingdom's higher officials did their basic investigations, they told the public that Giles was innocent and rewarded him with so money.

Later, Margrave Eliot even passed down the Baron title to Giles and made him the governor of the Dust gate town to honor his promise.

'A wolf in the sheep's cloth, huh.' He shook his head and shifted his gaze towards the enemy assassins.

At that mont, the masked Assassin quietly moved closer to the other two assassins, took out a blue-covered ancient book from his backpack, and tossed it towards them. The book cover had multiple strange letters engraved on it and appeared spooky.

"It's ti for us to leave." He said with a weary tone.

anwhile, Baron also widened his eyes as he saw the blue-covered book in Giles's hand and soon went pale.

He hurriedly moved his gaze towards Giles and asked him threateningly.

"What did they promise you to betray , Giles? Do you know what you have done?"

Giles lowered his head and grunted in a low voice.

"I didn't betray you, old man. I don't want to live my whole life as a commoner. They promised that if I gave the accurate information, they would make a new governor of this city and even reward with a Warlock' Bloodline Vial.'"

anwhile, Baron Auguinare glared at Giles and asked coldly.

"What do you an by the 'new governor'?"

"As I spoke earlier, I want you dead, old man. Guys! Kill him."

Giles's nervous expression slowly turned wicked as he said those words and pointed his finger at Baron.

But no one moved from the opposition side.

At that mont, everyone was already in a sorry state. Only six Assassins remained on the battlefield, and even they looked fatigued.

Giles also understood why they were not moving, turned his gaze towards Abium, and cursed,

"Everything was under our control until you ca. Damn you, bastard!"

"Watson also warned us about his unusual strength. But we underestimated our enemy too much." The masked Assassin spoke bitterly.

The other two Fourth-Tier assassins agreed with the masked guy's words and nodded solemnly.

The Assassin with wind elental affinity quickly took a bundle of scrolls from his space ring and tossed them towards other surviving mbers.

"Let's go then." The masked Assassin spoke and signaled everyone to use the spell scrolls.

anwhile, the other surviving assassins tore those scrolls, tossed fist-sized magic stones into the newly appeared magic circle, and disappeared from there one by one.

They were using Teleportation Spell scrolls to escape!

Although it was a one-ti use scroll, its total value might reach thousands of white gold coins!

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!…

Only the masked Assassin remained in the hall and looked at Giles coldly.

At that mont, Giles hurriedly ran towards the masked Assassin with a panicked face and pleaded.

"B-but you promised , right? You said that you would make the next governor of this town, right?"

The room went quiet when Giles's voice ended, followed by a burst of loud laughter.

"Hahaha, yes, I did promise that. But we didn't anticipate that half-elf's arrival, Giles. Also, we got what we wanted."

"What about ?!" Giles scread as he arrived near the masked Assassin and glared at him with daggering eyes.

"You are too naive, Giles. Even if we use the last bit of our strength to kill Baron and others, everyone might die here."

The masked Assassin paused, moved closer towards the pitch-black sword, bent down quietly, and picked it up.

Then, he glanced at Giles and continued with a smile.

"To make you not feel sad, I will present you with a parting gift instead."

Saying so, he suddenly raised his sword and plunged it directly into Giles's chest. The black sword tore through his heart and soon ca out on the backside.

After that, the masked Assassin took out a scroll from his backpack, tore it using his teeth, and tossed a similar magic stone into the newly appeared bluish magic circle.

The masked Assassin disappeared from that place the next instant, leaving the room with dead silence.

"NOOO!"

A sorrowful cry resounded inside the castle as Giles's body started to bludge and soon appeared more than two ters tall!

His pale skin shed more like snakeskin and turned into eerie blackish red. His nose turned sharper, his eyes appeared yellowish with vertical pupils, and even his usual tongue turned into a forked black tongue!

But Giles couldn't breathe properly in a few seconds and started hissing madly at Abium and others.

He raised his shiny blackish hand, touched his heart area, and went wide-eyed.

The next instant, he suddenly slumped down and landed on the floor with a thud.

At that mont, Giles's entire body appeared more like a snake's one and even had many strange snake tattoo-like patterns!

After a few seconds of twitching, his body also went motionless.

He died just like that.

"I feel the power of Chaos!"

Abium spoke in a gloomy tone, calmly analyzed Giles' body, and added.

"That sword might be a Demonic Sword. I heard that these Weapons have many curses like abilities, and the demons use these weapons to enslave the mortals."

At that mont, Baron started walking towards Giles's body and tried to touch it but stopped.

"No, don't touch it. Chaos power in his body might be infectious to us."

Baron stopped his hand when he heard Abium's warning and nodded in understanding.

"Haa, let's do a proper funeral ritual for him later."

Saying so, Baron hurriedly turned around and walked towards the armory with a heavy expression.
