Chapter 259: Chapter 259: A Good Opportunity Chapter 259: Chapter 259: A Good Opportunity Xu Haiyang and his two companions were not without vigilance either. When they encountered people on the road, they paid special attention to Shen Mianmian. Seeing she was fairly quiet in the sack, showing no unusual behavior, they finally relaxed a bit.
It seed that this Obedience Powder, although it couldn’t make a person do whatever was demanded, at least could make them lose the ability to resist.
If after the drug’s effects wore off, people didn’t beco stupid, then this would indeed be a good thing.
“Gouzi, co over and pull for a while, I need to pee,” said Xu Haiyang as he handed over the task of pulling the cart to Gouzi and went off to the side of the road to urinate.
Since Shen Mianmian was quite docile and quiet, apparently still under the drug’s influence, the three of them weren’t worried. Gouzi simply parked the wooden cart on the side of the road and started smoking a cigarette.
Viewing this scene through the sack, Shen Mianmian felt sowhat reassured. The less hurried they were, the better; it ant she had more of a chance to escape.
The holes in the sack were not large; she could only see the road ahead, and couldn’t make out the surroundings. Xu Haiyang leisurely finished up and hitched up his pants.
They continued on for a while, and as the sun slowly rose in the east, the mist gradually cleared. They could vaguely make out a car approaching.
Gouzi curled his lip, muttering under his breath with a hint of class resentnt.
“Damn it, what’s a car doing here in this godforsaken place?” he complained.
The road they were on was quite narrow and couldn’t accommodate two vehicles.
As the car slowly neared, Xu Haiyang said, “Let’s move to the field to give way!”
“Why should we move aside?”
Gouzi was irritated and refused to pull the cart into the field.
Xu Haiyang, however, said, “Better to avoid trouble.” Shen Mianmian was still in the cart, after all.
The two argued, one wanting to pull the cart into the field and the other refusing. The cart was pushed back and forth, jostling Shen Mianmian’s position. She had been able to glimpse the road but now could see nothing at all.
Anxiously, she knew this was a great opportunity to ask for help. People who drove cars were usually influential young people who would be willing to help, and Xu Haiyang and his companions would surely be scared.
But she also knew that when car windows are closed, it’s impossible to hear soone speaking from outside, so she dared not make a sound rashly.
After Xu Haiyang and Gouzi argued for a while, it was Dazhu who said, “Gouzi, cut it out.”
Seeing that both were against him, Gouzi finally agreed to pull the cart to the side of the road.
He puffed on his cigarette, his expression defiant as he stared at the car, his eyes filled with disdain. So what if soone was driving a beat-up car; why should their wooden cart yield to it?
If not for Xu Haiyang and Dazhu holding him back, he would have sent the car back where it ca from.
The car drew closer, slowing as it approached. Li Yue noticed Gouzi’s expression and turned to speak to He Nan in the passenger seat.
“Nan, take a look. Is that guy challenging with his expression?” Li Yue asked.
He Nan, who had been resting with his eyes closed, didn’t even open them as he said, “Just focus on driving.”
Li Yue: “…” Big brother doesn’t love anymore.
Inside the sack, Shen Mianmian took advantage of their distraction with the car to slowly move a bit, trying to catch the attention of the people in the car. But by sheer bad luck, her movent perfectly missed Li Yue’s line of sight.
Hearing the car’s sound as it was about to pass by, she beca frantic but didn’t dare to speak out.
So, she moved again, and this ti Dazhu saw it. He glanced at the sack and t Shen Mianmian’s eyes directly. Realizing sothing, his expression changed abruptly.
