Shen Mianmian, seeing through but not spelling it out, laughed as she lifted He Xiaobei up in her arms, "Alright then, let’s wait another ten minutes before we go, and let all the kids see that Xiaobei’s dad is much handsor than their dads, and that Xiaobei’s dad, who used to be too busy to drop off and pick up Xiaobei from school, will do it often whenever he has ti."
He Xiaobei happily covered his mouth and giggled, "Those kids will definitely be jealous."
"No need to ntion it." Shen Mianmian laughed along.
He Xiaobei reached out his hand for He Nan to carry him, "Dad, hold , I’m not a two or three-year-old kid anymore, Mommy doesn’t have your strength, it would be very tiring for her."
He Nan laughed and carried him in one arm, then heard He Xiaobei say, "Dad, when we get out of the car at the school later, can you carry to the school gate as well? That way others will think we have a good father-son relationship."
"Did you always let Mommy carry you to the school gate before?" He Nan asked.
He Xiaobei shook his head, "Not at all, Mommy’s arms are too thin and weak, I didn’t want her to get too tired."
He Nan was very pleased with his response, "When I’m not around, you’ll have the responsibility of protecting and taking care of Mommy."
"Sure." He Xiaobei nodded firmly.
Seeing the harmonious scene between father and son, Shen Mianmian smiled happily, glanced at the ti—it was almost ten minutes—she said, "I’ll grab the backpack, you two also get ready, it’s ti to leave, or else other kids will already be in."
Upon hearing this, He Xiaobei suddenly grew anxious, today being the first day his dad was taking him to school, it was essential to be seen by lots of kids, lest they secretly say he didn’t have a dad.
He Nan drove while Shen Mianmian and He Xiaobei sat in the back, He Xiaobei was sowhat excitedly restless the whole trip, a sight rarely seen by Shen Mianmian who couldn’t help but laugh. Soon they arrived at the kindergarten where many parents were just dropping off their children, so the entrance was sowhat crowded.
He Nan parked the car on the outskirts, then walked carrying He Xiaobei to the kindergarten entrance. He Xiaobei, being sensible and outstanding, stood out among the kids; many parents recognized him. There, seeing a man holding He Xiaobei, so parents curiously asked.
"Xiaobei, who is he?"
He Xiaobei’s uncle and grandfather they had t, but they had never seen this man taking He Xiaobei to school.
Glancing at Shen Mianmian nearby, even so began to speculate that this might be a stepfather Shen Mianmian found for He Xiaobei.
"He’s my dad," He Xiaobei said.
Just as He Xiaobei finished speaking, one of the boys shouted, "You’re lying, my mom said you don’t have a dad."
The statent shocked everyone present; the boy’s mother, clearly embarrassed, slapped her son, "What nonsense, hurry inside."
The little boy imdiately burst into tears, "You were the one who said He Xiaobei was a wild child without a dad, why are you hitting now?"
"Are you still talking nonsense? Hurry into school."
The woman, clenching her teeth, hurriedly sent the boy into the kindergarten, embarrassedly apologizing to Shen Mianmian, "I’m sorry, kids don’t understand, they speak without thinking, please don’t take it to heart."
Shen Mianmian scoffed, "We naturally won’t take a small child’s words to heart, but I doubt he ca up with those words on his own!"
Hearing this, the woman beca visibly unnerved and fell silent.
Shen Mianmian continued, "Parents are the best life teachers for children; don’t let your stupidity mislead them."
