Chapter 1103: Chapter 1103: Who Are You Trying to Scare?
Shen Mianmian checked the ti and asked, “Can we get to the film set within an hour?”
The driver glanced at his watch and replied, “It’s a bit challenging, given that it’s the peak hour for commuting in the morning, and the roads are quite congested.”
Hearing this, Shen Mianmian could only say, “Then there’s no need to rush; safety cos first.”
After speaking, she called the director and explained that she had woken up late and might not be able to arrive at the set on ti. This was the first ti Shen Mianmian was late, but coupled with her consistently polite attitude, the director expressed understanding and told her to take her ti, ntioning they would reschedule her scenes to the afternoon.
Shen Mianmian expressed her gratitude, then hung up the phone and called Ruan Feng.
“Dad, I have filming this afternoon and might not be able to make it. Can you reschedule the eting for Monday? I don’t have any scenes on Monday.”
Ruan Feng didn’t think much about it and imdiately agreed, “Okay, you focus on your filming. I’ll let you know once I’ve booked the appointnt.”
“Mhm.”
Shen Mianmian hung up the phone, staring blankly out the car window at the scenery.
An hour later, they arrived at the film set. The driver helped her open the car door, “Miss Shen, we’ve arrived.”
“Mhm.”
Shen Mianmian got out of the car just as Zeng Yi also arrived on set. Seeing Shen Mianmian, he greeted her imdiately, and Shen Mianmian smiled back at him.
Entering the makeup room together, and thinking about Zeng Yi’s excellent acting skills, Shen Mianmian casually ntioned, “After this film wraps up, Director Lu Nian also has a project coming up. If you’re interested, you could try out for the role of the second male lead. I think it suits you well.”
For Zeng Yi, getting any acting role was a great opportunity; he wasn’t one to nitpick between being the lead or the supporting actor.
Being a clever man, he knew that Shen Mianmian wouldn’t have ntioned it if Lu Nian would exclude him because of any offenses he caused, so he imdiately nodded and said, “I’m interested, I’ll go see Director Lu once my current film wraps up.”
“Just a second male lead role, and you’re this happy?” Wang Yaman, who had just entered, overheard and couldn’t help but make a sarcastic remark.
Zeng Yi furrowed his brows but didn’t respond to her.
Feeling ignored, Wang Yaman grew unhappy, “Hey, I’m talking to you, didn’t you hear ?”
“Miss Wang, are you saying you mock others just so they talk back to you?” Zeng Yi retorted.
“You…” Wang Yaman was infuriated, and spoke with disdain, “No wonder you were blacklisted. With an attitude like yours, it would be weird if you weren’t. Do you think clinging onto a big shot will turn your fortunes around?”
Before Zeng Yi could reply, she added, “Like a dog, wagging its tail as soon as it’s thrown a bone.”
As Wang Yaman finished her remarks without waiting for Zeng Yi to respond, Shen Mianmian’s voice ca out coldly, “Wang Yaman, if you still want to make it in the industry, I would advise you to accumulate so virtue with your words. My desire to not deal with you doesn’t stem from fear because you have strong backing; rather, I simply can’t be bothered arguing with you. But if you can’t gauge the situation and you manage to truly upset , believe , I have the ans to ensure you’re out of the acting circle after this film. Do you believe I can make it so that you have no roles to play after this one?”
Most of the ti, Shen Mianmian didn’t want to get involved in these manipulative gas, nor did she want to pick fights with people because she found such matters annoying. However, this didn’t an that others could touch her bottom line at will.
“You…” Wang Yaman panicked internally, “Who are you trying to scare? Do you even know who’s backing ?”
Shen Mianmian let out a cold laugh, “I don’t care who’s backing you. Do you think anyone would want to offend both Lanyue and the Ruan Family just for your sake? Are you worth it?”
