Chapter 1079: Chapter 1079: I Have Made an Appointnt with Mianmian and the Others
“I’m in Beijing too, let’s go out for dinner later,” Cheng Feiyang said.
“I’m busy, I have plans with Milkbun and Mianmian,” Yang Xiaoxi said.
“That’s perfect, I haven’t seen them in a long ti, let’s all have dinner together,” Cheng Feiyang said.
“Okay then!” Yang Xiaoxi agreed, “Co over later for the gathering.”
After hanging up the phone, just as Yang Xiaoxi was about to put down her mobile, it rang again. She thought it was Cheng Feiyang, but to her surprise, it turned out to be Lu Nian.
“Hello, Director Lu.”
Her tone beca polite, a sharp contrast to the sternness just a mont ago.
“Back in Beijing?” Lu Nian asked.
“Just got ho.”
No sooner had Yang Xiaoxi finished speaking than Lu Nian said, “Are you free? It’s been a long ti, let’s go out for dinner.”
Another dinner???
Yang Xiaoxi was puzzled, “I have plans with Mianmian and the others.”
“The more, the rrier, let’s all go together!” Lu Nian, checking the ti and not giving Yang Xiaoxi the chance to refuse, said, “I heard Mianmian is planning to start acting, it’s a good ti to talk about it. I’ll co to your place later.”
“Oh, okay.”
Yang Xiaoxi hastily agreed.
Over the years, Lu Nian had taken good care of Yang Xiaoxi, and she was always grateful to him, treating him like an older brother.
After the call, she finally felt relieved enough to take a shower.
Shen Mianmian, on the other hand, had no idea that what was supposed to be a simple al among a few girls had suddenly turned into a larger gathering.
The car had been driving for a while and soon ca to a red light. While waiting for the light to change, Shen Mianmian suddenly caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. Her pupils contracted, and in a mad rush, she suddenly opened the door and dashed out of the car.
This unexpected action startled the three people in the car.
“Mommy.”
“Miss Shen.”
“Mianmian.”
“Mommy.”
Unmindful of the shouting from the three of them, Shen Mianmian headed straight for the roadside.
Just as the light turned green, the driver had no choice but to let Yang Lan close the car door. He pulled over to a temporary parking spot on the side of the road, and Yang Lan, holding He Xiaobei, rushed out to find Shen Mianmian.
There, Shen Mianmian stood on the bustling street, looking utterly lost and frighteningly pale.
“Mianmian, what’s wrong?” Yang Lan was worried. Other than that ti when He Nan had an accident, she had never seen Shen Mianmian so out of sorts.
He Xiaobei wriggled out of Yang Lan’s arms and, grabbing Shen Mianmian’s hand, realized how frighteningly cold it was.
“Mommy, what’s wrong?”
Shen Mianmian, brought back to reality by their words, shook her head slightly, “I’m fine, don’t worry about .”
“Who were you looking for just now?” Yang Lan couldn’t help asking.
She had clearly seen Shen Mianmian walking back and forth in that spot from the car, a look of urgency on her face, obviously searching for soone.
“I must have been seeing things; I thought I saw soone I knew,” Shen Mianmian rubbed her forehead and a bitter smile crept onto her lips.
He Xiaobei and Yang Lan exchanged a glance, both sensing sothing was off, but when Shen Mianmian did not want to elaborate, they tacitly chose not to press further.
The driver stood by with a worried expression, but seeing that Shen Mianmian was alright, he too breathed a sigh of relief.
He had been Shen Mianmian’s driver for several years now, watching her progress every step of the way, and had co to treat her like a younger sister.
“Miss Shen, since everything is okay, shall we get back in the car?”
“Mhm.”
Shen Mianmian nodded, and they all got into the car and drove off. Once seated again, Shen Mianmian couldn’t help but look back one more ti, but unfortunately, saw nothing.
She massaged her forehead, thinking to herself that she must not be resting enough lately, even starting to see things that weren’t there.
