No wonder they say that many hands make light work!

In just under half an hour, a group of people skillfully sorted the chaotic mix of flowers. They kept the blossoms where necessary and the petals where needed. For plants like ivy, where only the stem had dicinal value, they swiftly removed the flowers and leaves, keeping only the usable stem.

The unusable parts were placed in large wicker baskets, and Lian Hai and Ning Jianshe took turns carrying them with a yoke to the village compost heap.

They made sure to use every bit of these flowers, determined not to give any busybodies room to gossip about them wasting resources for the brother’s wedding.

They didn’t want to wear the hat of destroying socialist flowers recklessly!

After tidying up the flowers, the n busily helped to rearrange tables, chairs, dishes, and bowls. Su Hongying, Lian Yue, and Qiu Fang swept the floors and cleaned the stove. They tidied up the three rooms that had beco a bit ssy from hosting guests during the ceremony, making them spotless once again.

After finishing the chores, the family mbers from both sides thought about making a graceful exit, lest they overstay and impede the newlyweds’ alone ti, risking rejection.

But with dusk approaching, how could Shuzhen and Lianshan let their siblings leave with empty stomachs?

Fortunately, there were still leftovers from the six dishes at the noon feast. They reheat them and added a dish of fried tomatoes and eggs and a cold salad. This was served with so leftover buns and a pot of sorghum porridge.

Isn’t it better for the whole family to gather joyfully for a al than to take ho so leftovers to eat blandly?

Understanding that in this hot weather, nothing stays fresh for long. If not consud quickly, it would go to waste. No one procrastinated; so chose vegetables, while others tended the fire. In no ti, they had reheated and brought six dishes to the table. With laughter and conversation, their bonds grew closer.

When it was ti to say goodbye, Ning Jianshe warmly held onto Liu Shouren and Liu Shouyi’s hands with reluctance, saying, "From today on, First Brother and Second Brother, we are relatives for life, truly a family! If anything cos up, feel free to speak, and if you ever need my help, I won’t refuse. Of course, even when there’s nothing going on, we should still keep in touch. I might be uneducated, but I enjoy associating with capable people like First Brother and Second Brother.

I always feel that spending more ti with successful people like you might rub off so scholarly aura on !"

With such sincerity and enthusiasm, eager to pave the path perfectly for his younger sister to live happily and freely with the Lian family, how could the Liu brothers refuse?

They quickly accepted the olive branch Ning Jianshe offered, openly expressing that since Lianshan had beco their brother-in-law, then he and Lian Hai were also their brothers-in-law, brothers, and part of the family.

Looking out for each other was a given, and frequent visits were essential.

With the brothers-in-law getting along so well, Lianshan couldn’t help but beam with joy.

Of course, it would be great if these guys could continue their gathering elsewhere after returning ho, instead of lingering by his door.

After waiting for so many days, finally shedding his bachelor status and having a happy ho, Lianshan had no interest in bidding farewell to his brothers-in-law and brothers. He only wished for them to vanish from sight quickly, making room for him to turn back and be with his wife.

Unfortunately, in his absent-mindedness, he couldn’t have imagined that such a clever brother-in-law wasn’t even considering his feelings. After a lengthy farewell with brother-in-law Jianshe and brother Hai Zi, this brother-in-law even pulled him aside as he began to turn and head back inside, dropping hints.

Once he finally understood what this brother-in-law was hinting at, Lianshan’s face turned green!

No doubt enduring years of bachelorhood, it was natural for him to be eager and passionate.

But the very reason humans are called humans is that they have a bit more self-control than beasts, right?

The woman inside was his wife, one he planned to spend a lifeti with.

Compared to desires within the covers, her health and safety were, of course, far more important!

The irritation of being misunderstood and the embarrassnt of being reminded left Lianshan’s expression sour even after he went inside.

Noticing this, Shuzhen frowned and worriedly asked, "Lian, Brother Lianshan, what’s wrong? Your face doesn’t look good. Have you tired yourself out with all the house building and wedding preparations these days? Xiao Yue has ward so hot water in the pot, let help you soak your feet to relieve the fatigue!"

"Hey, no, don’t, I’ll do it myself. You haven’t passed the first three months yet, your body is still fragile, and you can’t strain yourself with such tasks. Otherwise, if you strain your belly, that could be a big issue for both your bodies." Seeing Shuzhen bending to pick up the basin with a white base and red wedding characters intending to go outside, Lianshan quickly caught up to take it from her, worried that she might recklessly hurt herself and the baby inside her.

Seeing him accept her and their unborn baby without a second thought, caring for them so attentively and afraid they’d suffer any grievance or harm, treating them like precious treasures even neglecting his own flesh and blood as a result, yet ending up raising an ingrate and all.

Shuzhen’s heart was inevitably filled with a bitter and sour feeling, making her doubt whether her decision to give birth to this little ingrate, following her husband’s wishes, was right or wrong.

What if, just what if their upbringing couldn’t overco the inherited bad traits from the bloodline?

But after just fetching so water, when he turned back to see his freshly married little wife weeping as she looked at him, Lianshan felt as though invisible hands were gripping his heart tightly, filled with stifling pain, seeped with threads of tenderness.

With a clatter, half a basin of foot-washing water spilled onto the floor and on his pants and shoes. Without even wiping himself off or changing clothes, he rushed in a few steps to the bedside, hugging his teary-eyed pretty wife in his arms: "What’s wrong, Shuzhen? Why are you crying all of a sudden?

Co on, tell Brother Lianshan, what’s bothering you?

Or did soone say sothing unpleasant that unsettled you?

You tell , and regardless of who it is, we won’t let them get away with it. Your husband promises to get justice for you. In the past, since I hadn’t a na nor status, I held off to avoid staining your reputation. Now, I am well justified. From now on, if anyone bullies my wife or son, I won’t spare them!"
