Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Scorpion Tiger Goes Wild (Second Update)
However, Sun Wukong still had an indifferent look on his face. The cultivation strength of this scorpion-tiger was just at the level of a Demon Spirit, which was equivalent to the Taiyi Golden Immortal Realm; it was far inferior to his own. He wouldn’t fear even a Demonic Beast of the Demon Emperor Realm, let alone such a small creature!
“Sun Wukong, hurry up and prepare for battle, what are you doing?”
Huang Zhen turned to glance at Sun Wukong and saw him leaning lazily against the stone wall with a look of complete ease, showing no intent to deal with the situation urgently, which made her furrow her brows and chide him loudly.
“I’m watching a play!”
Sun Wukong replied with a light smile. Indeed, he was watching a play—watching Duanmu Bai’s performance. After the scorpion-tiger was blocked by Duanmu Bai, all its hatred focused on Duanmu Bai. The cultivation of the scorpion-tiger was also at the Demon Spirit level, the sa as Duanmu Bai, but in Sun Wukong’s view, Duanmu Bai might not necessarily be a match for it. The demonic beasts of the Myriad Beast Mountains were stronger than the demons of the sa realm—that was no joke.
“You!”
Huang Zhen was furious. At such a critical ti, Sun Wukong still had the leisure to be an onlooker. Didn’t he understand the principle that if the nest is overturned, no egg remains intact? Duanmu Bai was the strongest in terms of cultivation strength among them; if Duanmu Bai were to fall to the scorpion-tiger, where would that leave the rest of them, only at the level of Demon Marshal?
“Never mind him! Lao Chai, try your best to control the scorpion-tiger’s movents. Hou Jie, wait for an opportunity to attack. Duanmu Bai, hold the line for !”
After shooting Sun Wukong a fierce glare, Huang Zhen activated her Demon Primordial Force, layering enhancent statuses onto Duanmu Bai while shouting out orders.
“Aren’t I already holding it?!”
Duanmu Bai clenched his teeth as the scorpion-tiger launched another swift and unimaginably powerful attack. Even with Huang Zhen’s enhancent statuses, it was tough to hold off the assault, and his hatred for Sun Wukong grew.
This bastard, everyone was joining forces to resist, and he was the only one enjoying the show! Had the scorpion-tiger gone blind? Why did it fixate on him? That detestable jerk Sun Wukong was just standing there, not moving; why didn’t it attack him? Dammit!
“Roar~!”
After several attacks were blocked by Duanmu Bai, the scorpion-tiger grew angry. With a fierce turn, it clutched the stone wall and opened its mouth wide; a black fire column burst forth as it roared, launching an attack at Duanmu Bai.
“Spirit Protection!”
Duanmu Bai’s face instantly went pale green. The scorpion-tiger’s fire column was one of its two most powerful attack moves; being sprayed with it would an being instantly dissolved by the terrifying force of the flas and its toxicity. In this life-or-death mont, Duanmu Bai dared not hold back at all; with a fierce cry, he summoned the ultimate defensive move of the Duanmu Clan, Spirit Guardian Shield Armor. A huge earth-yellow shield materialized before him, rapidly solidifying and blocking the incoming fire column.
Boom!
As the fire column struck the earth-yellow shield armor, Duanmu Bai’s face turned deathly pale, and he staggered back two steps, groaning. His face quickly flushed red, veins bulging on his forehead, as he poured all his Demon Primordial Force into the shield armor, stubbornly resisting the scorpion-tiger’s fire column attack.
“I’ve blocked it, attack now!”
Duanmu Bai scread out, with all his Demon Primordial Force rapidly depleting. He was barely holding off the scorpion-tiger’s fire column, and he wouldn’t be able to last much longer. If the Spirit Guardian Shield Armor shattered, he would have no choice but to flee.
“Earth Wall, trap!”
“Wind Arrow, go!”
Chai Pengyu and Hou Jie were already prepared; before Duanmu Bai’s voice finished echoing, they had already launched their spells. Chai Pengyu took out a one-handed hamr, and after inscribing a Dharma Seal on it with his left hand, he slamd it onto the ground. A wave of seismic tremors spread toward the scorpion-tiger and earthen walls rose around it, trapping the creature against the wall. The raised sharp ends snugly clasped the beast’s body joints, firmly restraining it to the stone wall.
Hou Jie and Chai Pengyu, having cooperated so many tis before, already had a tacit understanding. Before Chai Pengyu’s spell had fully restrained the scorpion-tiger, Hou Jie’s Wind Arrows had already ford and flew towards the beast.
Puff puff puff puff!
The scorpion-tiger’s back was covered in needle-sharp scale armor, but its belly was soft like that of a pangolin. As it was suspended and trapped on the wall, its underbelly was completely exposed and was pierced by the Wind Arrows, but they only penetrated a little and stopped, unable to go further. Hou Jie, only at the level of Demon Marshal, ant that the Wind Arrows didn’t have the power to cause any fatal damage to the scorpion-tiger, though they did manage to injure it.
“Roar~!”
All of a sudden, stricken by the injury, the Scorpion Tiger’s violent tendencies exploded, and its entire body turned fiery red. A surge of furious strength arose from it, shattering the Wind Arrows that had buried into its abdon one by one, disintegrating into Demon Spirit Qi that vanished. The Earth Wall that had trapped it against the stone wall was also shattered, as broken rocks and earth were scattered and flung around.
Boom!
The black Fire Column spewing from the Scorpion Tiger’s mouth suddenly doubled in thickness, slamming heavily against Duanmu Bai’s Spirit Guardian Shield Armor. A sound reminiscent of shattering glass rang from the Shield Armor, as cracks began to spiderweb across it, becoming more and more nurous.
“This is bad, the Scorpion Tiger has gone berserk!”
Huang Zhen’s complexion instantly turned pale, devoid of any color. Berserk—a unique characteristic of Demonic Beasts that occurs when they are extrely angry or their lives are threatened. It’s a state in which their strength, attack power, defensive power, and recovery capabilities all increase dramatically for a short period. In this state, the beasts know neither pain nor fear, and their power soars with a terrifying increase in their lethality.
The reason why the Demonic Beasts of the Myriad Beast Mountains are both loved and feared mainly stems from their berserk trait. The beasts in these mountains have a much higher chance of producing Demon Cores than those outside, and their strength is also greater, easily overpowering Demonic Beasts of the sa tier. The most terrifying aspect is their high frequency of going berserk, which, once triggered, usually results in a devastating blow to a small rcenary squad!
Unlike Demonic Beasts, mbers of the Demon Race do not possess this berserk characteristic. Though a Demonic Beast would fall into a weakened state after its berserk status subsided, how many rcenary teams could survive until that happens?
Huang Zhen knew very well that they wouldn’t last through the duration of the Scorpion Tiger’s rampage. Today’s prospects looked grim!
“We can’t hold on anymore!”
The cracks on the Spirit Guardian Shield Armor multiplied, and Duanmu Bai’s face was so congested that it seed blood might spurt out at any mont. No longer able to withstand the pressure, he revealed a flash of fear in his eyes, and his body suddenly lunged to the side, stopping the flow of Demon Primordial Force into the Shield Armor. Without the support of the Demon Primordial Force, the already overstressed Shield Armor could not hold, and with a “crack,” it shattered. The massive black Fire Column grazed past Duanmu Bai’s back and blasted a deep hole into the opposite cliff face.
“Oh, my God!”
Upon seeing the large hole, Duanmu Bai turned deathly pale. Any last thoughts of Huang Zhen fled his mind completely in that instant. He turned and flew toward the canyon’s exit, carried by the wind, with the belief that preserving his life was the most prudent choice in such a situation!
“Roar~!”
Seeing Duanmu Bai fleeing, the Scorpion Tiger flew into a rage, burrowing into the stone wall and speeding aggressively toward Chai Pengyu and Hou Jie along the rock face. With a sweep of its tail, it sent both n flying, causing them to crash heavily to the ground, blood spouting from their mouths. With their cultivation a whole realm below the Scorpion Tiger’s, and considering its berserk state, how could they possibly stand a chance? They were fortunate not to have lost their lives imdiately.
As Duanmu Bai flew past Sun Wukong, he cast a glance at him. Sun Wukong remained indifferent, not moving an inch as if completely oblivious to the danger. In Duanmu Bai’s view, Sun Wukong must have been petrified by fear.
“Useless fool, don’t you even know how to run away? Just as well, stay behind and beco food for the Scorpion Tiger. That will gain so ti to escape! What a pity for the lovely Huang Zhen, to et her end at the jaws of that Demonic Beast, truly lantable!”
After flinging Chai Pengyu and Hou Jie aside, the Scorpion Tiger lifted its head and looked towards Sun Wukong and Huang Zhen, who were to its left and right, almost equidistant. In fact, Sun Wukong was slightly closer, but after its gaze swept over Sun Wukong, it decisively lunged at Huang Zhen. Although Sun Wukong had only revealed the aura of a Taiyi Scattered Immortal, the instinct of the Demonic Beast told it that this individual was not to be ssed with, so it chose not to provoke him.
“Sun Wukong, run! I’ll hold it back!”
Seeing the Scorpion Tiger pouncing towards her, Huang Zhen’s face showed a look of resolve. Was she finally going to find her resting place in the Myriad Beast Mountains like her elder sisters before her? Regretfully, she wouldn’t see the Rose rcenary Group rise to fa again.
After shouting to Sun Wukong, Huang Zhen brandished the Long Whip in her hand and charged towards the Scorpion Tiger, bringing all her Demon Primordial Force into a fierce strike.
“Bang!”
As the Scorpion Tiger opened its mouth, a burst of Qi Force collided with Huang Zhen’s Long Whip. With a muffled sound, the whip was flung away, and the remaining force continued to strike Huang Zhen in the chest, sending her flying backwards.
“Pfft!”
Huang Zhen fell several yards away from Sun Wukong, coughing up a mouthful of blood, and looked towards him with a faltering, weak voice, “You, you must hurry and leave, otherwise… you won’t have a chance…”
