The Lake God
Little Black landed a powerful chest strike, killing a monster. However, the one whose head had just been severed by the Black Knight was still moving. Noticing this oddity, Serea imdiately realized that the weakness of these monsters lay in the black worm inside their chests.
"Attack their chests!"
"Yes!"
After saving Digue, Little Black tossed him aside and charged back into the fray, thrusting straight at the monster's chest. But those monsters were ready—their tentacles intertwined, blocking Little Black's attack!
On the other side, the Skeleton Cavalry was already charging. Seeing this, the monsters swept their tentacled arms at them; so Skeleton Cavalry lances pierced the monsters' chests, but several riders were knocked off their bone steeds in the counterattack.
"Aw!"
Before the Skeleton Cavalry could regain their footing, the monsters rushed them, swinging their sharp claws and sending the skeletons flying.
Crack!
With trendous force, the skeletons' bones were smashed to pieces, seriously injuring them on the spot!
Seeing this, Serea showed a surprised expression. All along, she had dominated others with her individual strength, but now she was being overpowered in the sa way. A question imdiately rose in her heart.
Where did these monsters co from? Why are they so powerful?
All of this remained unknown, but the battlefield changed in an instant and Serea couldn't afford to panic. Regaining her composure, she gave her orders.
"The enemy isn't many in number. Skeleton Cavalry, fight in a flanking maneuver. Little Black, you and the others are the main assault."
"Yes!"
With the new orders, the Skeleton Cavalry shifted outwards and drew their longbows. As light cavalry, they were more agile and didn't always need to engage by charging.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Arrows wounded the monsters, but the creatures pressed forward, ignoring their pain as they rushed toward the other fallen Skeleton Cavalry. For a ti, those knocked off their mounts suffered heavy casualties, but fortunately Serea quickly changed tactics, preventing greater losses.
"Aw!"
One monster was nailed to a tree by Chilia's spear, the weapon piercing its chest and splitting the tree. Another monster tried to sneak up on him, so Chilia simply let go of the spear.
Picking up another spear, he thrust it forward. The monster blocked with its claws, but then Little White fired a Power Shot through the monster's back, killing it.
Elsewhere, Little Black and the Black Knight, having identified the monsters' weaknesses, dispatched them one by one.
Finally, only the monster previously beheaded by the Black Knight remained. Little Black slashed off all its tentacles, seized the opportunity, and tore open its chest with a claw, grabbing the black worm inside.
"Squeak! Squeak!"
The black worm emitted a harsh, piercing screech.
Wrapping the worm in a cloth bag, the battle was finally over. But the price to kill these ten monsters was steep: Serea lost three Skeleton Cavalry, and three more were seriously injured.
It was hard to imagine how high the cost would have been without Little Black and the others fighting at their side.
Luckily, the Skeleton Cavalry could be revived. After collecting the bones, Little Black turned toward Digue.
He saw Digue clutching his swollen arm, his body taut in pain, yet he still forced himself to speak.
"Lord Little Black, did you co to support us?"
"Hmm, were you attacked by these monsters?"
"Yes, I'll explain the whole situation to you later. My father is still being pursued. Please, I ask you to save them."
Digue pleaded anxiously. Little Black replied directly.
"Don't worry. Soone is already on their way."
...
On the other side, by the shores of Lake Nos, little Boo skipped across the frozen surface and dropped a silver bracelet, which transford into a sli as it landed.
"Is it those people...?"
Pelam spoke. As aerial support, she had arrived first. Seeing the monsters chasing Tifia and the others from afar, she locked onto the targets.
Transform!
Her body swelled, morphing into a flowing liquid, and then an identical Serea appeared on the ice.
"Follow my orders in a mont,"
Serea's thought ca through. With the promise of material crystals as a reward, Pelam had no reason to refuse.
She dashed toward Tifia and the rest. Tifia and his guards stood on the ice, clutching a conch in his hand.
"Aw, aw, aw!"
The monsters charged at them, but Tifia remained calm under pressure. They had reached their destination; there was nothing left to fear.
"Great Lake God above, your subjects humbly beg your protection for our tribe."
Tifia knelt on the ice with the conch in his hands. The other lizardn adopted the sa devout gesture. Watching this, Serea was perplexed—the monsters were about to attack, and they were kneeling now? Were they trying to get themselves killed?
Yet Serea could not hear the woman's voice in Tifia's mind...
"I told you not to bring trouble."
"Great Lake God, we ca here because we had no choice. On behalf of our tribe's devout service, please help us."
"Do you know the cost?"
"I understand. Whatever you require, we are willing to offer it."
"Very well."
The voice seed to approve. The conch in Tifia's hands started to emit a mournful sound.
"Woooo!"
As the sound echoed, Serea was stunned. At a ti like this, tifia still had the mind to blow a conch?
While she pondered, Pelam suddenly sensed danger. That sa foreboding struck Serea's mind.
The monsters, however, were oblivious. They continued rushing at the kneeling Tifia and his companions—twenty monsters in all. If they reached them, tifia's group would be dead for sure.
From a distance, a pair of eyes was observing every move: a goblin in a black robe and a black mask. From the mont the monsters invaded the Jawfang tribe's camp, black Hat had been quietly observing from afar.
"Oh, such powerful strength. Just a handful of these could wipe out a whole camp. If there were more..."
In that mont, black Hat's heart raced—and a hint of greed crept in. If only he had such power...
Black Hat's lips curled into a cold smile. He watched, thinking that since the lizardn were no longer fleeing, and with no sound to hear, he assud they were begging for rcy.
"Begging for rcy now? Isn't it a little late?"
As he muttered, the sound of the conch reached his ears.
"Ah~ ah~ ah~"
Next, a lodious female voice drifted over—a song more beautiful than any he'd heard before. But in that gentle song, a crisis quietly approached...
"Aw, aw, aw!"
The monsters howled, but suddenly, a black shadow flickered under the ice at their feet.
Boom!
The ice was ripped apart by several massive, abnormal tentacles. At the instant the tentacles appeared, Serea gained their information:
Level 39, Epic, Warbeast: Abyssal Octabrute!
