Wolf Cavalry, charge!
"Wolf cavalry, charge!"
Awoo awoo awoo!
One giant wolf after another suddenly burst out from the dense forest. As cavalry, not only did the surrounding trees not hinder them, they actually beca their most natural cover, for they were the warriors of nature!
"Are those werewolves?"
The leading adjutant was dumbfounded. Faced with the sudden ergence of wolf cavalry, he hesitated a mont too long, which allowed the wolf cavalry flanking from the side to charge directly into the ranks of the infantry.
Huge blades slashed and spears thrust down. Because it happened so suddenly, the first wave of the wolf cavalry broke through the soldiers' lines completely unimpeded, and just this impact alone caused great losses on the human side.
Tang Tang Tang!
At the crucial mont, their armor saved their lives; not too many human soldiers were actually lost.
"They're the enemy! Shield warriors, form ranks! Spearn, defend—quick!"
The humans ca to their senses and ford a shield wall, spears jutting out from between shields to greatly limit the cavalry's charge potential.
But that tactic was made for conventional cavalry—did Aruka and his wolf cavalry need conventional charging and trampling to slay their enemies?
"We..."
"Outflank them, two teams circle in! Dad, you engage them from the front."
Before Aruka spoke, auna took the lead. Hearing this, Aruka thought for a mont and then shouted,
"Alright, we'll do as Auna says. Split up and surround them—let them taste the fangs and claws of the Direwolves!"
The order was given. The silver Direwolf King under Aruka let out a howl, the command for battle hidden within it.
In an instant, the wolf cavalry split into two teams, charging once before vanishing back into the forest.
Watching the shifting shadows around him, cold sweat poured down rlin's forehead. Faced with such a ghostlike cavalry force, he knew this was going to be a tough fight...
Yet his estimate of a "tough fight" was flattering himself.
Fifteen wolf cavalry elites at an average level of 15, fifteen Direwolves at an average level of 17 (stage two monsters), as well as Aruka and Auna, who could instantly kill anyone present, not to ntion a level 30 epic "Direwolf King" and Becca, the golden elite "Becca (the mutt)" at level 25.
Could that team of fewer than twenty human soldiers, averaging level 12, really hold out...?
"Awoo!"
Aruka took the lead, charging from the front. The shield warriors raised their shields against him, and the spearn lifted their spears in defense.
anwhile, swordsn and heavy warriors in the rear prepared at any ti to finish off and cut down any riders stopped and trapped by the shield wall, but things rarely went as ideally planned. Just as the two sides were about to clash, a series of wolf howls rose up from behind.
"Awoo!"
At this sound, cold sweat flooded down rlin's back. He imdiately turned around—only to see a huge, gaping maw.
The giant hound beneath Auna lunged straight for rlin's helted head.
While armor could deflect a foe's sharp blade, it was of little use against a beast's jaws.
The giant dog clamped down on rlin's head and, before he could even cry for help, lifted him up in its mouth and smashed him ferociously to the ground.
In an instant, rlin's neck was broken, his armor ultimately unable to save his life.
With a single blow targeting the enemy's commander, auna leapt down.
Shattering Rock Slash!
The greatsword swung off Auna's back, smashing down directly at the human soldiers.
Yes, smashed!
The greatsword, nearly as tall as the young woman herself, was swung high. Forged from beast bone and pure tal, its very appearance exuded heft.
Bang!
The sword ca down, and the soldier it struck was crushed, his armor warping under the force. Blood poured from the seams, and the man died on the spot.
With their leader slain, the soldiers panicked. They tried to resist, but now surrounded front and back, with agile giant wolves breaking up the rear ranks, the shield warriors and spearn barely had ti to turn before Aruka charged in with reinforcents from the front.
How strong was Aruka?
Put simply, just a little weaker than Celia, but not by much. Against these human soldiers, his great beheading blade moved with ferocious energy—a demonstration of brute-force aesthetics!
Unlike the Elves' long-range lethality and hit-and-run tactics, the werewolves' style was all about explosive force and head-on combat!
In lee, the humans' physical abilities were simply no match for the werewolves. And don't forget, these cavalry mounts were stage two, even stage three monsters!
Fifteen wolf cavalry and fifteen Direwolves—within the forest, they utterly crushed these rookie soldiers, because they were the true warriors of the woods!
"Ahhh!"
Within monts, the soldiers were broken by the direwolves' fangs and the werewolves' brutality. More than half lost, they bolted for the forest, desperate to flee.
But turning their backs to a pack of wolf cavalry...
Sorry, but your free heads will be collected!
"Pursue them! Leave none alive!"
"Ura!"
The werewolves roared as one. Although cavalry, in the forest they were more like assassins, impossible to defend against. Surrounded and flanked, the fleeing soldiers were swiftly hunted down.
Ignoring the enemy's pleas and lants, only cold-blooded savagery remained in the eyes of Aruka and Auna. That was how enemies must be dealt with!
Just then, auna suddenly noticed a soldier. During his escape, he pulled out a wooden tube, pointed it at the sky. Noticing this, auna shouted,
"Becca, take him down!"
"Awoo!"
The charcoal-grey giant hound nad Becca leapt out. The soldier's face filled with terror. He hurriedly tugged the fuse at the base of the tube, and just as Becca pounced, managed to pull it.
Whoosh!
Pop!
A red flare soared into the sky, and then Becca's jaws closed around his neck, snapping it.
Thus, the last human soldier was dealt with. Yet as they looked at the bright signal illuminating the sky, both Aruka and Auna wore grim expressions.
"Awoo!"
A wolf howl rang out. The silver Direwolf King's call summoned the wolf cavalry back together. Once assembled, Aruka leapt from his mount and walked toward the Elven archer.
"Elven friends, are you alright?"
"I... Ugh... We're fine, thank you, but we have to get out of here fast. The humans' signal is out, their reinforcents will be here any minute."
"Alright, but I need to treat your wounds first."
"No, there's no ti—"
"Don't worry—no one can catch us in the Great Forest. But your wounds must be treated quickly or you'll risk infection by plague."
Saying this, Aruka's wolf cavalry all dismounted and began bandaging the elves' injuries. Seeing the humans pushed back, an Elven archer shot an arrow glowing green into the sky.
That was their rallying signal.
Soon after, Dolusam arrived with other elves from their hiding place.
Taking in the fallen human corpses and werewolves tending to the wounded, Dolusam called out excitedly,
"Chief Aruka!"
"It's . Can you tell
what happened here?"
Aruka inquired, and at this, a look of bitterness crossed Dolusam's face.
They had clearly invited the Bloodfang Tribe here for refuge, yet in the end it was their guests helping them out—and even getting entangled in this conflict on their behalf...
"We were attacked by humans out of nowhere. They took our ho, probably for the Spring of Life."
