There are four dishes and one soup, plus a portion of dessert. It’s not that Tang Yue is being stingy; it’s just that the dishes here are genuinely substantial, and four dishes and one soup are more than enough for three people.
"Do you want red wine, drinks, or maybe white wine or beer?" Tang Yue found herself at a loss when it ca to the beverages.
She’s still breastfeeding, so she can only have so drinks, or sothing like milk.
But Jin Yan and the others can drink.
"No need, we’ll just eat," Deng Lanhua shook her head. Sitting here, Deng Lanhua felt quite uneasy; the private room, from the tables and chairs to the wall decorations, all seed very upscale.
"Okay." Sun Qing concurred.
Tang Yue looked at Jin Yan, and Jin Yan thought for a mont before saying, "Let’s have so cola. I find it quite tasty with the fizz."
This beverage has just co out recently; Jin Yan had only heard about it and never tried it.
"Alright." Tang Yue ordered cola and so juice, also getting herself a portion of milk, and then said, "The food here is delicious and the portions are substantial. If there’s anything else you want to eat, just speak up."
Fearing they’d feel uncomfortable, Tang Yue started talking about clothing after ordering, and indeed, everyone relaxed quite a bit when discussing work matters.
Once the dishes arrived at the table, Sun Qing and the others finally understood why Tang Yue only ordered four dishes and one soup.
Just four dishes and one soup already filled up the table, with the massive plates equivalent to those at ho, the portions on these plates genuinely ample, one dish comparable to two or three servings at ho.
Stir-fried beef, tomato braised prawns, stead perch, stir-fried cabbage, and a light three-flavor soup.
The dishes, whether in terms of at and vegetable combination or color, all looked incredibly appetizing.
Before dinner, they chatted about work; after dinner, they talked about the kids and family matters.
Deng Lanhua’s Qi Lei, the little tiger-headed boy from back then, is now in junior high school; Tang Yue didn’t even recognize him when she saw him last year.
Deng Lanhua sighed about how it’s been eight years since she first t Tang Yue; it was 1986 then, and now it’s already 1994.
Tang Yue has gone from a high school student to being a mother, and besides the change in status, Tang Yue remains just as beautiful as when they first t. Her eyes are still so gentle, still approachable, not becoming distant because she’s wealthier or more reputable.
This is quite rare. Every ti Tang Yue sees Qi Song, she still affectionately calls him Brother Qi.
Sun Qing and Jin Yan occasionally chid in with a few sentences; the two of them haven’t married yet, so on this topic, they felt a bit out of place.
From being reserved initially, to later, Sun Qing and Deng Lanhua completely relaxed.
ng Siyu ca to pick up the won and saw the four of them having a great ti.
On the way, they sent Sun Qing, Jin Yan, and Deng Lanhua ho before the couple headed back.
"Zaozao and Chenchen didn’t cause any trouble, right?" Tang Yue turned her face towards ng Siyu, as the scenery outside flew backward. The occasional streetlight grazed his features; his side profile was chiseled and handso. With half her face resting on her hand, Tang Yue ogled him openly.
"No, they had milk powder; they’re playing with Xiao Yang now." A smile played on ng Siyu’s lips, fond of Tang Yue gazing at him adoringly, her eyes filled with admiration.
"Xiao Yang ca ho?" Tang Yue was a bit surprised, asking, "He’s usually so busy, always on the go, and yet he has ti to co ho?"
Yesterday, he ca ho for a al and then went back to work overti.
"Maybe since you ntioned sothing yesterday, he suddenly grew a conscience and decided not to work overti today?" ng Siyu speculated.
"Pfft"
With a skeptical expression, Tang Yue said, "If he were really going to grow a conscience, he would have done so long ago."
ng Siyu chuckled, not saying more.
Once they arrived ho, Tang Yue understood why Lian Qingyang was at ho.
Because Zhang Hualian had called.
If Lian Qingyang wasn’t ho to answer, Zhang Hualian would start nagging him again.
"Mom, my sister’s back. You can talk to her," Lian Qingyang, upon seeing Tang Yue return, looked at her as though she were his savior.
"Mom." Tang Yue didn’t make it difficult for Lian Qingyang, only giving him a glare, signaling for him not to leave the house, then switching to a more comfortable position to take the call.
"Xiao Yue, it’s almost the New Year, are Zaozao and Chenchen being good? Don’t take the kids out in the cold weather, and don’t get too caught up in work yourself."
"Understood."
"Also, your mother-in-law is looking after the kids for you, cooking and doing laundry. Rember to give a big red envelope for the New Year."
"Understood."
"On the first day of the New Year, rember to pay respects to your father- and mother-in-law."
"..." This ti, Tang Yue simply stayed silent.
Continuing, Zhang Hualian said, "Also, ng Laoyezhi, over at your Grandpa Lian’s place, rember to pay respects, and give red envelopes to the elders; don’t fail in etiquette."
Last year, Tang Yue spent New Year’s at Jin City, and Zhang Hualian didn’t say anything, but this year is different. This year Tang Yue will be spending New Year with her in-laws, and both Mr. ng and Old Sir Lian are elders.
"Mom, I got it," Tang Yue couldn’t help but rub her ears. It was no wonder Lian Qingyang couldn’t handle their mom’s nagging. Even knowing her mother ans well, hearing it repeatedly does give one a headache.
Tang Yue changed the subject, saying, "Mom, is everything okay at ho? How are Grandma and Granny Tang’s health?"
"They’re well, all doing fine," Zhang Hualian, distracted from her nagging, began talking about Tang Family affairs.
"Guo Li just gave your uncle’s family a grandson, chubby and cute." Zhang Hualian spoke of Guo Li giving Tang Xian’s family their second child, "The kid’s na is Tang Zhibin, tiger-headed and spirited."
"That’s wonderful." Tang Yue recalled Tang Xian, younger than her by a few months. Back when her younger uncle got married, discovering Tang Xian and Guo Li were together, Tang Yue wondered if their youthful romance would last, but who would’ve thought Tang Xian and Guo Li have been together all these years, and now they have two kids.
"Indeed." Zhang Hualian paused before saying, "But Xiao Min hasn’t been so fortunate, marrying into the Lu Family but still not having children; your uncle won’t acknowledge her, and Xiao Xian was upset about past events. I saw Xiao Min a few days ago, and she seed to have lost a lot of weight, her complexion poor."
Talking about Tang Min, Zhang Hualian sighed heavily. Bearing in mind that when Tang Min left Wang Aihua to be with Tang Zhengyuan, she lost her biological mother but didn’t lead a hard life. Later, with a job arranged and engaged to Gao Bin, who wouldn’t envy Tang Min?
But now, one could tell from her face how well Tang Min was doing.
"Mom, don’t get involved; it’s her life to live, and her choice of partner to make," Tang Yue said regarding Tang Min, unable to resist twitching her lips; a man as good as Gao Bin was rejected for Lu Ming, Tang Min must have lost her mind, and she’ll face hardships in the future.
