"No need, Brother Mo, I’ll just grab sothing simple to eat. What would you like? I can bring it up for you too," Qin Huai’an declined.
"Xiao Qin, how can we let you just settle for sothing simple when you’ve co all the way from Jiang City?" Mo Xiaolin entered the room, knowing that the only chance to see Xiao Yue was around noon ti, and she was hoping her son would act quickly to settle down with his future daughter-in-law.
Mo Xiaolin wouldn’t want to miss such a good opportunity to get along by letting Qin Huai’an interrupt.
"Aunt Mo." Qin Huai’an was so overwheld by Mo Xiaolin’s enthusiasm that he didn’t know what to do but to follow her back.
When they arrived at the Mo Family’s ho, Qin Huai’an realized it wasn’t just Mo Xiaolin there, but another lady too. Mo Xiaolin introduced her, saying, "This is Sister Wang from the small store at the end of the alley. You can just call her Aunt Wang."
Sister Wang was quite a chatterbox. Seeing the well-dressed Qin Huai’an, she imdiately started grilling him, asking his age, whether he had a partner, and other personal questions.
anwhile, Mo Xiaolin had prepared five or six delicious dishes, causing Qin Huai’an to feel it was too extravagant for just the three of them. They couldn’t possibly finish all the food.
When it was ti to eat, Qin Huai’an asked, "Aunt Mo, don’t you need to send food over to Brother Mo?"
Seeing everyone sitting down to eat, and noticing that Aunt Mo didn’t seem to have any intention of sending food over, he couldn’t help but ask.
"Don’t worry, Xiao Qin, Si Yu won’t go hungry," Mo Xiaolin said cheerfully.
Qin Huai’an thought about it for a while but still couldn’t figure it out.
*
"Xiao Yue, today, you can deliver the food by yourself. I’ll just eat at the shop," Tang Mingli said while holding the al brought over by Tang Yue and digging into his portion.
Tang Yue was about to sit down when she suddenly asked, "Uncle, why aren’t you going to deliver it?"
"I’m not going." Tang Mingli ate his food heartily, his face reddening at the thought of Mo Siyu’s questioning from the day before.
"Uncle, didn’t you disagree with seeing him more often?" Tang Yue beca anxious.
She was also embarrassed to see Mo Siyu after their accidental kiss; even though it didn’t land on her face or any crucial spot, such intimate contact left her too embarrassed to face Mo Siyu.
"That Qin Huai’an went there, didn’t he? I heard he hasn’t left yet," Tang Mingli comforted her: "Don’t worry, even if you go, you won’t be alone with him."
Tang Yue: ...
Eventually, resigning to her fate, Tang Yue carried the als and soup to the hospital, thinking that since Qin Huai’an was still there, she felt a lot braver.
She stood at the door, mustering up the courage for a long ti before finally knocking.
"Co in." The indifferent voice was no different from what she heard on any other day.
Upon entering the ward, Tang Yue saw that Mo Siyu was the only one there, not to ntion Qin Huai’an; even the child from the next bed was gone.
It seed that every noon, the child from the neighboring bed would be taken downstairs by their parents to stroll around.
Tang Yue’s heart skipped a beat. Carrying the als, she walked in hesitantly, glancing around before asking, "Uncle Mo, haven’t you seen Mr. Qin?"
"Do you need him for sothing?" Mo Siyu’s dark eyes fixed on her, deep and seemingly pulling her into a vortex of imnse gravity.
Tang Yue steadied her nerves, shook her head, and said, "No, he said yesterday that he was coming to visit you, so I thought he was still here."
Tang Yue changed the subject to the als and began to unwrap the food, handing it to Mo Siyu while keeping her head down, too shy to make eye contact with him.
Mo Siyu didn’t speak either. Whatever Tang Yue said, he only responded with a grunt as an acknowledgnt.
The ward was very quiet, with only the faint sound of Mo Siyu eating his al.
Mo Siyu ate his al very quickly, yet his movents were not the least bit uncouth, rather, they were a pleasing sight to see.
In no ti, Mo Siyu’s bowl was empty, wiped clean not just of rice, but also of every dish and soup.
Tang Yue mused to herself, could Uncle Mo possibly still be hungry?
Every ti she saw them finish everything, she would intentionally add a little more rice the next day.
"Did you go to Jiang City to stock up on goods yesterday?"
In the quiet hospital room, Mo Siyu’s voice suddenly rang out.
Tang Yue nodded in confusion.
"The sumr vacation is more than halfway over, and you’re about to be a high school junior. Instead of studying, you’re following your Uncle to pick up goods?" Mo Siyu’s voice flowed continuously to her ears.
Tang Yue’s eyes widened in surprise.
"As a student, you should focus on what students are supposed to do," said Mo Siyu, asuredly.
Tang Yue couldn’t help but sit up straight, his words reminding her of an elder lecturing a younger one. However, in his presence, she found herself unable to form any words of retort. She hung her head low, faintly feeling that Mo Siyu was concerned about her, yet suspecting it was just her imagination.
Before she could reflect any further, Mo Siyu’s voice rose again: "With your little figure, if those goods press down on you, do you not want to grow taller anymore?"
"I’m not that short," Tang Yue said, subconsciously standing up straight.
Mo Siyu got up.
Tang Yue hurriedly ca forward to support him.
Leaning on his crutches, Mo Siyu stood erect, looking down at her without a word, his aning clear even in his silence.
Tang Yue straightened, barely reaching his shoulder, and had to look up slightly to see his face.
"From now on, no picking up goods, no carrying heavy things," Mo Siyu’s authoritative voice ca from above her head.
Tang Yue grumbled, "Even if I don’t pick up goods, I can only grow so tall anyway."
Her current height was just a tad taller than Zhang Hualian, she couldn’t expect to shoot up much more.
Mo Siyu didn’t speak, his gaze sweeping over her.
Tang Yue pouted, "Fine, after school starts, I’ll go for a run every day, I should grow a bit taller then..." Her voice was filled with uncertainty.
In the depths of Mo Siyu’s dark eyes, a trace of satisfaction showed through. He said, "From tomorrow on, you don’t need to bring als anymore."
"Why?" Tang Yue’s gaze instinctively went to his leg, "You’re still not well enough to be discharged from the hospital, right?"
Not only his back was injured, but his leg was injured too.
"Are you worried about ?" Mo Siyu himself didn’t notice that his eyes softened a fraction.
"Isn’t that normal? Aunt Mo would be even more worried about you. If you don’t recover well from your leg injury, what if it leaves a lingering issue?" Tang Yue brought Aunt Mo into the conversation.
Mo Siyu looked at her intently and asked, "Aren’t you worried about ?"
Before Tang Yue could respond, his next words ca, "Look into my eyes and answer ."
"I..." Tang Yue lifted her head, locking eyes with his deep and dark pupils, finding it impossible to voice the lie in her heart. His pupils were dark and deep, reflecting her own image inside them.
