"Xiao Yun, I’m touched that you still think of this old man."
Mr. ng was overjoyed to see Wen Yun and ng Yanzhi co over together as a couple.
"Grandpa, we had so free ti, so we ca over to have a al with you." Wen Yun smiled warmly and took the dishes she brought to the kitchen to start preparing.
Mr. ng, as usual, advised ng Yanzhi to treat the girl well.
ng Yanzhi nodded in agreent, assuring that Wen Yun would not be deprived in terms of material necessities.
After the al, Wen Yun took Mr. ng for a walk in the courtyard. Mr. ng said, "Xiao Yun, you’re a good girl. Tell Grandpa, does Yanzhi treat you well?"
Though Mr. ng’s hair was grey, his eyes remained sharp and bright.
"Don’t be afraid, tell Grandpa." Mr. ng encouraged Wen Yun. Over ti, he had truly grown fond of this granddaughter-in-law.
Wen Yun paused for a mont, then smiled and said, "Grandpa, he’s very good."
What ng Yanzhi said that day, although hurtful, was true.
Their marriage was not born from love but from an agreent on paper.
She had escaped her father’s pressure to marry, avoided the scumbag he introduced, could focus on her job, and lived close to the hospital. Frankly speaking, ng Yanzhi treated her well.
Moreover, at the class reunion that day, ng Yanzhi stood up for her, making those who looked down on her apologize one by one.
Even the botherso Hu Shuwei and Hu Lijuan siblings had stopped disturbing her, allowing her to regain a peaceful life.
All of this was thanks to ng Yanzhi.
Mr. ng looked at her deeply before saying, "Xiao Yun, Yanzhi, he..."
Mr. ng hesitated, knowing that even though ng Yanzhi was seen as very successful by everyone now, it couldn’t hide the fact that he had once... been inside.
"Xiao Yun, being able to marry you is Yanzhi’s fortune accumulated over several lifetis." Mr. ng looked at Wen Yun earnestly and said, "Xiao Yun, if in the future he doesn’t treat you well, rember to tell Grandpa. Grandpa will reprimand him. But please, give Yanzhi a chance. He has changed; he is not the person he once was."
"Grandpa."
Wen Yun felt a bit baffled hearing this, unable to grasp the aning entirely.
"Xiao Yun, can you give Yanzhi another chance?" Mr. ng looked at Wen Yun with anticipation.
What made Mr. ng most uneasy now was indeed ng Yanzhi.
"Okay."
Faced with Mr. ng’s hopeful gaze, Wen Yun couldn’t bring herself to refuse. She even wondered if, when their agreent ended and she divorced ng Yanzhi, Grandpa ng would be very sad or disappointed.
Because of this, Wen Yun didn’t dare to look directly at Mr. ng.
"What’s wrong? What did my grandpa say to you?"
On the way ho, ng Yanzhi noticed sothing off about Wen Yun’s emotional state and said, "You don’t need to pay attention to my grandpa’s words. He’s just worried because of his age."
"He didn’t say anything."
Wen Yun kept Mr. ng’s words deep in her heart.
ng Yanzhi changed the subject and said, "By the way, the fridge at ho seems to be out of food; should we get so?"
"Sure."
ng Yanzhi accompanied Wen Yun to the supermarket to buy groceries, just like any ordinary couple.
Coincidentally, they ran into Wen Yun’s colleague, Wu Ting. ng Yanzhi took the initiative to state her identity, leaving Wu Ting utterly surprised. She had never known that Wen Yun was married!
And married to such a handso man.
The next day, when Wen Yun went to work, Wu Ting teasingly said to her, "Wen Yun, you’re so secretive, marrying such a handso husband and keeping it from us. Are you afraid we can’t afford a wedding gift? Or worried we’ll steal your handso husband?"
"Exactly, exactly."
The colleagues chid in, feeling that it was not quite right for Wen Yun to have gotten married without letting anyone know.
"Tingting, you’ve misunderstood." Wen Yun hurriedly explained, not knowing what to say. "You’ve misunderstood. It’s not that I didn’t want to say anything. It’s just that..."
Wen Yun felt troubled, unsure how to explain their unusual relationship, so she never intended to discuss it.
"Alright, we understand. But at least treat us to a al, okay?" Wu Ting said with a smile.
They had worked together for a long ti, and whenever anyone else got married, they chipped in for a gift. Now that they found out about Wen Yun’s marriage, they still planned to do the sa.
"Okay."
Wen Yun readily agreed. She had no choice, otherwise, she couldn’t face her colleagues.
After returning ho, Wen Yun deliberately prepared a sumptuous dinner.
He should co back for dinner, right?
Wen Yun pondered, looking out expectantly, and when she saw ng Yanzhi returning, she bead and said, "You’re back."
The aroma of food wafted from the dining table, and Wen Yun’s sweet smile made ng Yanzhi feel a bit dazed.
"Yes."
ng Yanzhi responded, looking at the four dishes and a soup, saying, "Today’s dishes seem more abundant than usual."
"I thought since you’re working hard, I’d make so tasty dishes for you."
Wen Yun had a favor to ask, and with her inherently gentle nature, her sweet words sounded even more pleasing.
ng Yanzhi felt warmth in his heart, knowing she had to work and said, "Wen Yun, actually, you don’t have to work if you don’t want to."
"No, work is my life; I can’t not work."
Wen Yun replied without hesitation.
ng Yanzhi said, "But isn’t it tiring to do all this cooking after work?"
He looked at Wen Yun, noticing a trace of fatigue between her brows.
"It’s alright. Having good food is satisfying enough." Wen Yun didn’t find it tiring. Cooking als for herself when she was alone was the real bore.
Now that she had company, Wen Yun felt happy.
Moreover, every evening, ng Yanzhi either had food delivered or prepared bread or sothing so she wouldn’t go hungry. Wen Yun felt more than content.
After the al, ng Yanzhi helped Wen Yun clean up the dishes.
Wen Yun sorted out the washed dishes and deliberately cut so fruit. Seeing ng Yanzhi in a good mood, she finally said, "Are you free this Saturday night?"
"Hmm?"
ng Yanzhi looked at Wen Yun.
Wen Yun nervously explained, "It’s like this—yesterday, we ran into my colleague Wu Ting, right? She and the others didn’t know we were married, so they want to have a al with you."
