"You are..."
As Hu Shuwei sized up Wen Yun, Wen Yun was also sizing up Hu Shuwei. During her school days, she didn’t have a strong impression of many people.
"I’m Hu Lijuan’s brother, Hu Shuwei. I’m a year ahead of you." Hu Shuwei introduced himself nonchalantly, "We’ve t several tis before. I studied economics and now work at an investnt company, earning US$ 3000 a month."
When Hu Shuwei ntioned his salary, he had an expression of pride on his face.
It was only the year 2000, and people earning two to three hundred dollars a month were as common as dirt. To earn US$ 3000 a month like he did was truly exceptional.
There were many who wanted to introduce him to potential brides, but none satisfied Hu Shuwei. Yet recently, when he heard Hu Lijuan ntion Wen Yun, he felt that he had finally found the right person after waiting for so long.
Hu Lijuan’s brother.
Wen Yun rembered, but her impression was too vague, completely unable to match the person in front of her. But upon hearing Hu Shuwei’s words, even if she were slow, she realized sothing was off.
Who, upon first eting, would imdiately disclose his salary?
"Hello." Wen Yun looked at Hu Shuwei awkwardly and distantly.
"It’s rare to run into each other; how about dinner together tonight?" Hu Shuwei enthusiastically invited.
Wen Yun quickly declined, "No need, I need to go ho. My husband is waiting for to cook dinner at ho. Um, I’ll be going now."
It was as if there was a tiger chasing behind her; Wen Yun hurriedly ran away.
Once she ran to her car and saw that there was no sign of Hu Shuwei behind her, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. With that little delay, she arrived ho a bit late.
"You got off work at six and didn’t get ho until seven-thirty?" ng Yanzhi glanced at the clock on the wall. He hadn’t gone out the entire afternoon, and even when his assistant asked if he wanted dinner at six, ng Yanzhi hadn’t said anything.
He waited and waited until seven-thirty when he saw Wen Yun, and only then did he relax.
"I have to take the bus and transfer twice, then walk ten minutes after entering here. How could I be that fast?"
"I also went to the supermarket to buy so groceries."
As she put down her things, Wen Yun ran to the kitchen. Normally by this ti, Aunt Wu would have already prepared the al. Now Wen Yun had to cook herself, and she was too exhausted to even want to eat.
ng Yanzhi: "..."
Watching Wen Yun’s slightly tired figure, he asked, "Where does she work?"
"At the Second People’s Hospital," the assistant replied.
In his mind, ng Yanzhi silently calculated the ti back and forth. It really was ti-consuming.
"Why are you standing here? Go help." ng Yanzhi glanced at the assistant standing nearby.
Assistant: "..." What did he do wrong?
He had wanted to order so food for Mr. ng all along, but Mr. ng didn’t want any. Now he’s being urged to help in the kitchen?
Could it be that Mr. ng wants to eat the al cooked by Madam?
Needless to say, the assistant had hit the nail on the head.
"Madam, I’m here to help." The assistant looked at the dishes in the kitchen with a sense of bewildernt.
He was a graduate from a prestigious university, exceptionally adept at handling business matters without any pressure at all, but asking him to cook was truly a challenge for him.
"Are you guys eating here too?"
Wen Yun was just about to rinse the rice and cook when she saw the assistant approach. Wen Yun wondered whether ng Yanzhi and the others were also dining here.
"Mr. ng is eating here," the assistant corrected.
If Mr. ng was eating with Madam, where would an assistant fit in?
As a light bulb?
To beco Mr. ng’s assistant, he must be very perceptive.
"So, you’re not eating?" Wen Yun looked at the assistant with a sowhat odd expression. Not dining here, but coming to the kitchen to help cook?
"No, I’m not eating."
The assistant said this and, under Wen Yun’s guidance, very diligently helped wash and cut vegetables. Even though it was his first ti, his intelligence was undeniable, and soon he helped Wen Yun finish cooking dinner. Three dishes and a soup, all perfectly done.
"If you’re not staying to eat, take this with you."
Wen Yun packed so food in a container for the assistant.
The assistant was overwheld with gratitude; Madam was truly a good person.
Carrying the food, the assistant left happily.
In the dining room, ng Yanzhi and Wen Yun sat across from each other. Wen Yun was so hungry her stomach was growling, and she started eating straight away. If it weren’t for ng Yanzhi’s presence, she would have devoured the food without any consideration for her image. As it was, her image was already slipping.
Wen Yun, using sowhat inelegant movents, quickly finished two bowls of rice. ng Yanzhi, who typically didn’t have a large appetite, found the sight of Wen Yun enjoying her food quite pleasing, which unexpectedly improved his appetite. He too ate two bowls of rice.
"I’m so full."
Wen Yun, satisfied, patted her stomach. Although dinner was a bit late, it turned out to be so sumptuous!
When she was alone, Wen Yun might have splurged like this only once a month.
Now, Wen Yun’s diet had noticeably improved.
Just look at today; the food in the fridge far exceeded what she bought.
She silently set aside the groceries she bought, using the fridge’s contents to cook for ng Yanzhi, feeling entirely justified.
"Have Aunt Wu clean tomorrow." ng Yanzhi stood up and said, "Co to the study; I have sothing to discuss with you."
"Oh."
Wen Yun was about to clear the table when she heard ng Yanzhi’s words. She walked to the study with a puzzled expression.
"Are you working tomorrow?" ng Yanzhi asked.
"Yes."
Wen Yun nodded, wondering in her mind, didn’t they just visit Grandpa ng a few days ago?
"Then in the next few days, pack your things, and we’ll have soone move your stuff out."
With ng Yanzhi’s words, Wen Yun looked at him, completely clueless about what he ant.
ng Yanzhi explained, "This house needs so renovations. We’re moving to a different place."
Wen Yun looked around the house, which seed like a showroom. And yet, it needed redecorating???
Countless question marks filled Wen Yun’s mind.
"Here’s the address."
ng Yanzhi scribbled down a na and handed her a set of keys.
"Oh, this place seems very close to my workplace." Wen Yun looked amazed. She knew this neighborhood and heard it was exceptionally upscale and expensive. The people living there were all wealthy!
"How coincidental."
ng Yanzhi said casually, never ntioning that just an hour ago, he’d purchased a model ho in that neighborhood.
With a quick furniture renovation inside, it would be ready to move into.
"So, I’ll be living here from now on?" Wen Yun still seed unbelieving!
Heaven knows how she had always longed for a place near the hospital so she could sleep an extra half-hour to an hour every day!
Now that the dream had co true, why did she feel like she was dreaming?
