"I’m going to return sothing." Chenchen said to Zaozao, then headed towards ng Yanzhi.
ng Yanzhi cheerfully waved his hand, lifting the cake in his hand, which he specifically made for Chenchen.
"Uncle ng."
Chenchen greeted politely, yet very distantly. She sensibly bowed to ng Yanzhi and expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Uncle, for saving last ti."
"No need."
ng Yanzhi said nonchalantly, "Chenchen, Uncle specially bought a cake for you, want to have a bite?"
"Is this Zaozao? You siblings can share it."
ng Yanzhi looked at Zaozao beside him. Zaozao stood next to Chenchen, slightly taller, but with a strong presence, lips pressed together, standing protectively by Chenchen’s side.
"Thank you for the cake, Uncle ng, but my parents will buy it for ."
Usually fond of eating, Chenchen didn’t even glance at the cake in ng Yanzhi’s hand. She opened her backpack, feeling for the Peace Pendant inside. She had been wearing it, deciding when to return it to ng Yanzhi.
"Uncle, I’m giving this back to you."
Chenchen held the Peace Pendant and handed it over, saying, "I can’t accept your gift, Uncle. I don’t want to upset my parents."
"And this too."
Zaozao handed over his gift as well.
"Chenchen."
When ng Yanzhi saw the Peace Pendant, his heart ached for a mont. He squatted down and said, "Chenchen, I’m your uncle, this is a eting gift for you, you can accept it."
"Are your parents unhappy?" ng Yanzhi couldn’t understand, would ng Siyu and Tang Yue prevent the two kids from accepting gifts?
If they were going to stop them, they should have done it long ago, not after such a long ti.
So, is this the idea of the two kids?
"They are not unhappy, and didn’t stop us from accepting gifts, it’s just us not wanting to accept them."
Chenchen’s bright eyes looked at him, clearly expressing her thoughts.
In Chenchen’s world, black is black, white is white, dislike is dislike.
Knowing that ng Yanzhi almost hard her mother and hurt her uncle, Chenchen had no good impression of ng Yanzhi and didn’t want to accept any gifts from him.
"Why?"
ng Yanzhi gazed at Chenchen, her clear eyes like a mirror.
Chenchen pressed her lips together and said nothing.
ng Yanzhi seed to understand, it should be that Chenchen knew about the past, the light in his eyes seed to dim instantly.
Seeing his expression, Chenchen suddenly stepped back, fearing she might soften.
Zaozao put the things directly into ng Yanzhi’s hand, saying, "Uncle ng, you’re an adult, you understand more than us."
ng Yanzhi was taken aback and imdiately understood the aning behind Zaozao’s words.
"Chenchen, in the past, I made so mistakes, but I’ve changed now. People make mistakes, but the greatest good is knowing your mistakes and correcting them." ng Yanzhi sincerely looked at Zaozao and Chenchen, earnestly saying, "I apologize to you, can you forgive ?"
"You should say this to my parents."
After Zaozao finished, she grabbed Chenchen and ran off.
"Zaozao, he looked so pitiful." Chenchen ran, panting heavily.
"What’s so pitiful? Uncle is pitiful, Mom is pitiful, Dad is pitiful."
Zaozao replied without thinking, "Chenchen, Mom and Dad love you the most, even Uncle loves you like that, do you still want to be with an enemy?"
"No, no, no."
Chenchen shook her head repeatedly.
Zaozao’s dark eyes twinkled with a thought, "Let’s go make dough figurines, you teach ."
"Okay."
Chenchen was instantly distracted.
Holding the stuff, ng Yanzhi felt extrely uncomfortable, and he casually tossed the items into the pocket beside him.
But, just after throwing them, ng Yanzhi went back to pick them up. These two items were carefully selected gifts.
ng Yanzhi put the things into his pocket and got into the car intending to go back to the company, but feeling uncomfortable, he thought for a mont and went to a bar, wanting to drink, drink a lot.
In the flickering lights of the bar, every type of person was there. At the booth, ng Yanzhi drank alone, and many people wanted to strike up a conversation with him because of his deanor.
ng Yanzhi refused each one, until he saw soone.
...
"Ring."
The phone rang, breaking the quiet of life.
Tang Yue imdiately called ng Siyu and simultaneously called Tang Jun, who was far away in Jin City.
Everyone rushed with all their strength to Changshui Village.
Mr. Miao fell down a slope while gathering herbs and was now in critical condition.
Mr. Miao had once saved Tang Jun’s life, and now that sothing happened to him, Tang Yue naturally had to go and visit.
If, in the worst case, Mr. Miao really t misfortune, then there would be a girl, just a little over ten years old, left alone—how lonely would that be?
Hope, hope Mr. Miao can be safe and sound.
Tang Yue hoped in her heart, praying.
Not only did ng Siyu and his wife go, but even Tang Zhengde went with them.
Jin Yan was pregnant, so Zhang Hualian stayed at ho to take care of her.
Changshui Village, after months of renovation, had roads built and was now accessible by car. With so ti, there would be cent roads paved all the way, making the commute to the town from Changshui Village much easier.
Rushing all the way to Changshui Village, Mr. Miao’s condition was not good.
The girl’s eyes were swollen and red from crying, her voice hoarse, clinging to Mr. Miao’s hand at the bedside, refusing to let go no matter how much others persuaded her, as if letting go ant never seeing her grandfather again.
"Girl, don’t cry."
Mr. Miao’s condition was poor, even speaking was weaker than usual.
Not only had Tang Yue and the others arrived, but even Old Master Xu was there, and Tang Jun rushed in just in ti for the evening.
Although Mr. Miao had only a granddaughter over ten years old, at this mont, there were many people by his bedside.
Not just Old Master Xu and Tang Yue and the others, even the villagers were there.
Everyone hoped that Mr. Miao would recover.
"Grandpa." The girl kept crying, calling for her grandpa.
Tears kept flowing from the corners of Mr. Miao’s eyes.
Tang Jun and the others planned to send Mr. Miao to a hospital in Jing City, but Mr. Miao refused. Mr. Miao, being a doctor himself, knew the condition of his body. Originally, his health was already very poor, and if not for holding on for the sake of his granddaughter, he might have been gone long ago.
Now, this fall had completely damaged his body.
The ti left for him might be very short, very short.
The only thing he couldn’t set his mind at ease about was his granddaughter, who hadn’t grown up yet.
Now, with Old Master Xu and the others present, Mr. Miao was also reassured, with them taking care of her, and the Tang Family’s support, his granddaughter would surely grow up safely and securely.
