"Mom, what you’re doing is really disrespectful." Zhang Qiang looked at Liu Cuixong with disappointnt, grabbed Yan Wei’s hand, and walked out.
Liu Cuixong watched Zhang Qiang grab her hand, more convinced her suspicions were true. She angrily ran forward and said, "You say you have no feelings for her, but I don’t recognize her as a future daughter-in-law. Zhang Qiang, I’m telling you, I won’t let you marry her."
Liu Cuixong was furious. What’s so good about marrying soone who just lost their mother? What if she’s cursed?
"Auntie, you really misunderstood."
Yan Wei was about to cry. Zhang Qiang was obviously speaking thoughtlessly because of Liu Cuixong’s words.
"Zhang Qiang." The louder Liu Cuixong shouted,
the faster Zhang Qiang walked with Yan Wei’s hand. Yan Wei kept saying it was a misunderstanding, but Zhang Qiang had no intention of explaining. No matter what Zhang Qiang said, Liu Cuixong would insist that he had feelings for Yan Wei, so it was better to take Yan Wei away at this ti.
"What’s going on here?" Zhang Hualian and the others ca over after hearing the commotion, only to see Liu Cuixong shouting.
"Grandma, I’m going out for a bit; you all eat first." Zhang Qiang greeted Elder Mrs. Zhang, took Yan Wei, and went out.
There was a car in the garage, all with keys. Zhang Qiang directly drove one out with Yan Wei.
"Zhang Qiang, should we go back?"
"Go back and apologize to your mom."
"Things aren’t like that; Auntie misunderstood you."
"Sorry, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for , you wouldn’t be misunderstood."
Yan Wei had not been feeling well these past few days. It was hard for her to feel a sense of security because of Zhang Qiang, allowing her to sleep peacefully. After arriving at the villa, instead of wandering around with everyone, she took a shower in the arranged room and slept soundly.
At her stepfather’s house, Yan Wei never dared to sleep deeply, worried about any accidents.
So, in this unfamiliar place, Yan Wei instead slept very deeply.
Upon waking up, Yan Wei intended to take a walk around back but ran into Liu Cuixong.
"Yan Wei, I’m sorry. I’ll explain things to my mom." Zhang Qiang said, taking Yan Wei directly to find Mo Weidong.
Mo Weidong hadn’t gotten off work yet. Hearing Zhang Qiang’s call, he thought he misheard and said, "Qiangzi, you’re in Sea City? Wait, I’ll be right back."
Mo Weidong hurried ho, eager to give Zhang Qiang a big hug, only to see Yan Wei standing nearby. Mo Weidong’s eyes widened as he asked, "Qiangzi, have you settled so soon with a wife?"
"No." Zhang Qiang introduced, "This is Yan Wei. This is my good buddy, Mo Weidong."
"Weidong, is Sister Xiaoyu around?" Zhang Qiang explained his idea of finding a job for Yan Wei.
Mo Weidong glanced at Zhang Qiang, then at Yan Wei, and soon contacted Mo Xiaoyu. Upon hearing that Zhang Qiang brought them, Mo Xiaoyu asked them to wait, as she was coming over soon.
"Xiaoyu, where are you going?" Leng Hua, who has been happily married to Mo Xiaoyu for several years, imdiately followed when he saw her get up to leave.
"Zhang Qiang brought a girl over, said he wanted to introduce her to a job, so I’m going to check it out," Mo Xiaoyu said.
Soon, the Mo Weidong house welcod Mo Xiaoyu and her husband. Observing Yan Wei, Mo Xiaoyu shared the sa thoughts as Mo Weidong. As she chatted with Yan Wei, she quickly learned of her situation. Even though Yan Wei wasn’t very detailed, Mo Xiaoyu empathetically understood.
Back then, in her most helpless ti, Tang Yue and ng Siyu were her support. Likewise, Yan Wei was alone now, so Mo Xiaoyu said, "My shop is still short a salesperson. Would you be willing to do it?"
"Can I?" Yan Wei was hesitant, saying, "I’ve never sold clothes before."
"No problem. It’s quite simple, and you can learn. The salary isn’t very high—US$ 600 as the base monthly salary plus commission."
Though Mo Xiaoyu could offer a higher salary, she couldn’t make an exception as everyone at the shop had similar terms. Of course, if Yan Wei perford well, the salary would certainly increase. "With the base and commission together, so earn at least US$ 1,000 a month, and if you do well, it could rise even more," she said.
"I’ll do it; I’m willing."
Yan Wei stood up excitedly, almost bowing to Mo Xiaoyu. Forget about US$ 1,000; even US$ 600 a month was a lot already.
"Alright, you just arrived in Sea City; I guess you don’t have a place to stay yet?" Mo Xiaoyu asked.
Yan Wei, feeling a bit embarrassed, thought she was troubling Zhang Qiang too much. She wasn’t even sure if her money was enough to find a place to live.
"If you are willing to work at our shop, I can offer you accommodation for free," Mo Xiaoyu said, especially moving Yan Wei.
That night, Mo Xiaoyu took Yan Wei to the house where she used to live with her daughter.
The house had been vacant for ages, basically filled by shop recruits who resolved their housing independently. Recognizing Yan Wei was from Wangjiang City and connected to Zhang Qiang, they decided to provide lodging.
There were two houses; one was converted for Mo Family’s stay, while the other remained empty.
Initially, Leng Hua wanted the Mo Family to move sowhere better, but Mo Xiaoyu disagreed.
Nowadays, with Mo Weidong’s increasingly thriving business, he had bought a house in Sea City. When Zheng Chunhong and others moved to Sea City, they often stayed at Mo Weidong’s, leaving this place entirely vacant.
"Thank you."
"You are all good people. When I start earning, I will definitely repay your kindness."
No matter what others might think, Yan Wei held firm to her belief that she must show gratitude in the future.
"No need for all these thank-yous. We’re all compatriots, and it’s tough being away from ho. Here are the keys; from now on, you’ll stay here. You’ll have to cook for yourself. I’ll co by tomorrow to take you to the shop," Mo Xiaoyu said, before Leng Hua took her away.
According to Leng Hua, a phone call could settle it all; why waste more ti? Ti is precious, after all. It’s better spent holding his wife and going ho to sleep.
"You’re not afraid staying alone, are you?" Zhang Qiang, feeling sowhat worried, asked before leaving.
"I’m not afraid." Yan Wei shook her head, noting that the apartnt was in a community with external security. Besides, the place looked very new, with good furniture and just a slight sll from being vacant. To Yan Wei, it was already a perfect refuge.
Never did Yan Wei imagine that after leaving Wangjiang City, she would have such a nice place to settle.
Yan Wei thanked Zhang Qiang again, trying to clarify Liu Cuixong’s situation. Zhang Qiang said, "Don’t worry about my mom. She just wants to get married, so she keeps pushing. If anything is missing, we can buy it tomorrow. You’ve had a long day, so rest early as well."
