Qin Xiangi sold the old family house back in her hotown. Qin Pengfei, she stopped caring about him too. Without this path for him, with Qin Pengfei’s cowardly deanor, what good could co out of him? It wouldn’t be long before he got kicked out and had no choice but to return ho and farm. She knew that the Qin Family still owned so farmland, enough to sustain Qin Pengfei’s family.
Qin Xiangi’s face, long and drawn, resembled that of a donkey’s. Only after the examination confird the good growth of their twins did Song Wang’s face bear a hint of a smile. But upon leaving, he gave her the cold shoulder once again. They were spouses, not enemies. She felt the urge to kick out to show her displeasure, but with her belly so big, she didn’t dare. If she actually hard the children inside, Song Wang would have her head.
She felt guilty herself, hence she dared not show any dissatisfaction. Although she strutted around with her pregnant belly, every ti she caught a glimpse of the bald patch atop Song Wang’s head, she felt a mix of fear and apprehension.
Song Wang’s gaze lingered on Qin Xiangnuan’s belly.
"Congratulations," Song Wang offered his sincere congratulations to the couple. Different is different – love compared to the lack of it, scheming versus sincerity, they could never be the sa.
"Thank you," Jian Zhiqing replied with a smile, "What about you? Have you finished your check-up? How’s the child?"
"Pretty good," Song Wang actually felt a bit awkward, unsure of what to say next.
Qin Xiangi pursed her lips and then proudly jutted out her belly, "These days, do you even need to learn from other people how to have children?"
"Oh..." Qin Xiangnuan lifted her head, comfortably leaning on Jian Zhiqing’s shoulder, "Then who did you learn from when you had children? You really should thank them properly. Without learning from them, who knows who you might deal with to have kids in the future?"
The direct and cutting remark pierced Qin Xiangi, adding salt to her gaping wounds.
Qin Xiangi glared hatefully at Qin Xiangnuan, shooting daggers with her eyes, but Qin Xiangnuan turned her face away at that mont, chatting with Jian Zhiqing, blatantly ignoring her. Sotis the best way to infuriate soone to the point of grinding their teeth in anger is to simply ignore them.
The more you engage with them, the more they puff up in pride. But the more you ignore, the more they jump in frustration.
It could be said that Qin Xiangnuan, out of everyone, understood Qin Xiangi the best. Qin Xiangi, haughty and arrogant, believed herself above all, with a mind as sharp and petty as a needle, and yet, her fortunes had worsened compared to her past life.
And when it ca to making Qin Xiangi lose her cool, Qin Xiangnuan was an expert. Just look, now she’s about to explode with anger.
Qin Xiangi hadn’t fainted from rage yet, but her face turned beet red, as though flas were about to burst from her lips. Song Wang turned his face away, his thin lips parting slightly, uttering words with exceptional coldness.
"Be mindful of your belly. Without these twins, you better contemplate the consequences yourself."
There was a complete absence of politeness, stabbing at Qin Xiangi’s heart again. Qin Xiangi shot another glaring look at Qin Xiangnuan, who still paid her no heed. Grinding her teeth in resentnt, she followed Song Wang out of the hospital. When they returned, Hu Li eagerly approached upon seeing her daughter and son-in-law.
"Xiang i, how is it going? Are my grandsons doing well?"
Hu Li was all smiles, her eyes constantly fixated on Qin Xiangi’s belly as if it wasn’t a child inside but rather two golden eggs. She adored it so much that she was eager to touch it, to hold it in her arms and never let go. Qin Xiangi’s belly indeed was her golden eggs; once the baby was born, it would be like being adorned with gold and jade.
Hu Li’s face was full of avaricious laughter, causing Song Wang’s heart to feel extrely uncomfortable. People truly are strange; when you like soone, all their flaws beco strengths, but when you dislike them, everything about them becos detestable.
No wonder they say that lovers see each other as perfect beauties, while enemies see nothing but excrent.
Song Wang took his coat and left, not bothering to pay any attention to soone like Hu Li. He had done enough for her, providing her with good food and money day in and day out; there’s nothing more he could do.
With a loud snap, Song Wang shut the door behind him, not once calling Hu Li "Mom" during the whole incident.
Hu Li was also angered, standing at the door and beginning to curse, "Xiang i, just look at the kind of man you’ve married. How can he have no manners like this? Just because he has a bit of stinky money he thinks he’s so incredible?"
Qin Xiangi rolled her eyes, "Right, having a bit of stinky money does make one incredible. But what about you? Why don’t you even have that bit of stinky money? Besides taking from , when have you ever given anything? Everything goes to your son."
This got Hu Li displeased, her face stretching longer with annoyance.
"Xiang i, what you’re saying is wrong. Don’t you know the situation at ho? Who asked you to be so useless, incapable of finding a good job for your brother? If we don’t subsidize a little, how are they supposed to live?" In Hu Li’s generation, frankly speaking, there’s still more affection for sons than for daughters.
The secret money that was supposed to be untouched, but if the son asks a few tis, and cries about poverty, in the end the money always cos out. Not a cent for the daughter-in-law to spend, but giving to the son is seen as natural and right.
"Why can’t they just earn it themselves?" Qin Xiangi suddenly shouted, startling Hu Li quite a bit.
Qin Xiangi had had enough, truly fed up with this entire family. Life at the Song Family was unbearable, and she was close to divorcing Song Wang. It would have been fine if Hu Li, as a parent, couldn’t offer any help, but instead she kept dragging Qin Xiangi down, like a blood-sucking leech, utterly repulsive.
And right now, Hu Li’s greedy expression genuinely made her feel the urge to go mad.
If it were Qin Xiangyang, if that brother would acknowledge her, just him alone would be better than the whole Qin Family combined.
She followed in Song Wang’s footsteps, with a snap shutting the door, leaving Hu Li locked outside in the living room.
Hu Li was not temperless. She kicked the table forcefully, swearing, "What do you all take for? Was raising you all easy for ? Now it’s finally ti for to enjoy your success, but everyone’s just driving mad. Do I owe you sothing? Ungrateful wolves."
While cursing, she rummaged through the house, trying to find sothing valuable to keep for herself. She wasn’t stupid; now that Qin Xiangi was pregnant and supposedly under her care, in reality, Hu Li was just a hired old woman, getting a re thousand yuan a month, which was nothing. She still needed to save money to find a good job for her son. Although she had searched the house inside and out countless tis already, she still wasn’t giving up, determined to find sothing.
"What’s the use of having a daughter?" she continued her rant. "She doesn’t even take care of the ho, and what’s the point of marrying a city man? I see that these city people are heartless, not one good thing about them."
