Shenjia Village is quite a distance from Dadao Village, yet, Shenjia Village is comparatively closer to the city and accessible via a different road. The car stopped outside a household in Shenjia Village, where there stood a newly-built house; a two-storied building with a large iron gate that’s quite valuable nowadays.

Qin Xiangyang parked his tricycle at the gate, took out his keys from his waist, with a click, he unlocked the door and then rode the tricycle inside.

The house inside was quite clean, as Qin Xiangyang would co over every few days to tidy up, and everything like the earthen bed had been ready for a while, along with furniture and bedding, completely enough for them to make do for a night.

There was also a newly dug well in the yard, and the groundwater naturally had a bit of sweetness to it, making it quite palatable. Since no one had been living there, the kitchen lacked staples like rice or oil, good thing they had eaten already. Boiling so water would suffice, and the house indeed had cups.

"Yangyang, whose house is this?" Granny Lu curiously touched here and there, admiring the construction, "This is really well built, not possible without spending thousands of dollars, right?"

Granny, this is our house," Qin Xiangyang parked the tricycle and quickly went to the well to fetch water, preparing to boil it.

"Our house?" Granny Lu was shocked and took a mont to grasp the situation.

"Our house, how could it be ours?"

"It is ours, Granny."

Qin Xiangnuan, holding Granny Lu, settled her on a stool nearby, then explained, "This was built with Uncle Hua’s family’s help. A few years back when Uncle Hua’s family was building their house, I opportunistically privately bought a plot of land here. We built this house since my brother and I will be attending middle school, and it’s closer to the school, so we won’t have to wake up early and co ho late."

Granny Lu didn’t say anything more, she just gently stroked her granddaughter’s hair.

The two children have really grown up, but this made her heart even heavier.

Being able to earn money and build their own house, they indeed matured and realized things earlier than other children. However, this maturity and sensibility made her imagine the kind of life the two children ended up having at the Qin Family’s house.

Her Pingzi passed away, leaving behind these two children who grew up enduring hardships.

She secretly wiped away tears and stood up, busying herself with the children setting up the beds and cleaning, then tending to the fire stove and such.

The bedding was newly purchased, but it had a sll, Granny Lu felt the bedding, deciding to air it out tomorrow when the sun is out.

The fire stove was set up nicely; fortunately, Aunt Hua’s family had spare corn stalks, initially prepared to be thrown away, but then rembered that Qin Xiangnuan had space to store them here, otherwise, they wouldn’t have any firewood for heating today.

That night, they slept in their new ho, which was spacious and bright, and their very own. Not just Qin Xiangyang and Qin Xiangnuan, even Granny Lu slept quite comfortably. Regardless of Qin Guohua and Hu Li, they would spend these couple of days like this, until they stored away the money, and see how Hu Li would try to extract money from them.

The next day, they got up early to go out and sell the rest of the Spring Festival couplets, which mostly would just take the morning, as by the afternoon, there usually weren’t any buyers left.
