The Japanese were truly relentless. In just over a month, the first batch of PSP ga consoles had already been delivered. Well, these guys really seed to want money regardless of the risks.
Due to the limited quantity, Legendary World didn't do much publicity. According to the boss, the 200,000 units were just expected to cover a three-day sales period.
Well, William White guessed wrong this ti. There was no such thing as three days; the units sold out in half a day, even with a limit of two per custor.
Seeing this situation, a group of so-called stock analysts imdiately fell silent. Surely, for a long ti, they wouldn't dare to make further claims. Investors who followed their advice probably wouldn't be able to buy back their stocks ever again.
Sotis, that's just how people think. If you sell a stock at 30 bucks, you'd never buy it again at 40. Well, maybe there are exceptions, but those are either crazy people or stock wizards.
Honestly, the current PSPs were really bulky and crude, the LCD screens weren't big, and the resolution was nothing special.
However, what William White saw as junk sure sold well!
...
The flood of orders overwheld Legendary World's order system in an instant.
Ten million units? Well, it seed like that wasn't enough!
Now, no one doubted it anymore. This so-called portable console was going to be a hit for a simple reason: the enthusiasts were mostly adults, often spotted playing while commuting by subway.
A bunch of consortiums was really bumd. Their long-enduring grand plans seed trivial next to a ga console.
Star Wars? Maybe not so impressive after all.
Military products do have high profit margins, but their R&D costs are hefty. Look at their ga console; it's just a derivative of a TV ga console.
The highest tier is arcade gas, followed by TV ga consoles, and now a portable one, oh and computer gas too. Fine, a ga IP played out four different ways. You tell , does this world still make sense?
...
It wasn't just the consortiums that saw this opportunity. A lot of enterprising folks were already making moves, naturally aiming for the ga content.
Legendary World's policies might have been tricky, but they had a large user base, and if your ga worked across platforms, the profits weren't small.
In fact, two pretty decent companies actually ca out of this. As for those who failed, nobody cared about their fate.
At this point, the Japanese didn't have much choice left. Just focus on producing ga consoles and spare so ti to develop a few gas if possible.
William White, keeping a close watch on these guys, finally breathed a sigh of relief. His plan for PS2 could be postponed accordingly.
The Japanese also knew that Legendary World was developing a new system. This was their biggest headache. Once they decided to develop independently, the hits would co one after another. They'd be utterly done for.
William White clearly rembered the NES sold over a hundred million units in his previous life, and adding the clones from black market, that number could double.
Everyone was eyeing the ga consoles since their sales figures were enormous, all in the billions.
William White wasn't completely unconcerned. Saying so would just be showing off. In truth, his focus was more on the ga cartridges.
By the twenty-first century, selling consoles was mostly a losing business; they relied on gas, which were the root of their success.
William White was certainly a greedy one. Even when others coveted it all, here he was playing coy. He was truly despicable.
...
"President, what about these two gas of ours?"
"Ah, go talk to Legendary World. They're too strong; we still need to build up our strength."
...
"Sir, in the past two days, they filed several ga applications, which seem pretty good."
"Ha, those bastards. Have they given up?"
"Sir, do you an they're planning to develop them on their own?"
"Hmph, Tom, don't get complacent. They're a cunning bunch, and if they spot a weakness, they'll tear you apart."
"S-sir, do we reject them?"
"Why reject? Not only should we not reject them, but we should also provide them convenience and treat them warmly."
"Alright, I get it."
"Don't grin so awkwardly. We've won a round; they won't have any plans for a while."
...
It was, to so extent, the little ones' misfortune to have encountered such an unconventional player.
Had William White not utilized their production capabilities, he wouldn't have quickly stocked up.
Given Arican production capacity and quality, he'd likely have been overtaken early on, at most earning so patent fees, but as for other things, don't even think about it.
A bunch of idiots on Wall Street were still studying this and that all day long. William White's thods weren't so easy to learn. The current dynamic mory had hit a snag.
Selling equipnt might have felt great at first. The Japanese were like fools, thinking they got a bargain no matter how expensive it was.
How many good days did they have?
Only a few years later, they've beco totally outdated in technology and had inadequate production capacity. It wouldn't take long, just a year or two, before Arican mory factories would shut down entirely.
Well, the consequences rolled in. The money they made back then didn't cover the damages now, and a bunch of jerks was craving to understand why William White wasn't affected.
The Japanese collaborating with him all behaved quite honestly. You claim the consoles had contracts, but how do you explain the CPU?
It's not very scientific, this!
