Aurora quickly guessed who exposed her.

’Damn you, Josh! I’ve never thought you’re such a snitch!’ She silently expresses her frustration.

However, her heart grows heavy as she recalls Josh’s fate. She hasn’t seen Josh since their last conversation at the hospital. She didn’t even spot him on the plane when they flew back to the capital.

She suddenly recalled Alex, who claid he would deal with Josh for cursing her.

Aurora slowly turned to Alex, surprised to see him gazing back. Alvin was no longer there, and she realized that only the three of them remained in the vast hall.

When Alex stood up from the sofa and approached them, she didn’t realize that a smile flashed across her lips before she hurriedly concealed it.

Alex smiled back at her with his gaze while standing by her side.

"Are you done speaking?" Alex asked. He could see that she was exhausted and needed to rest.

Aurora nodded. Even though she felt nothing with her injured head, she needed to release the wig. She began to feel uncomfortable—she wasn’t used to wearing it.

"Okay, let’s head upstairs. You need so rest," Alex softly said, extending his hand to help her get up.

However, before Aurora could take his hand, David abruptly interrupted.

"Bro, we haven’t finished our conversation yet." David remains curious about their relationship.

"It’s still nine, big bro. The night is still young. And young people like us are usually awake at this hour. If you’re feeling sleepy, you can head out first. Don’t worry; I’ll ensure your wife is safe here..." David maintained his grin as he noticed Alex glaring at him.

However, his smile faded as David noticed Alex paying no attention to him and instead focusing on Aurora.

"David, I’m growing old. I feel so sleepy!" Aurora smiled faintly at her friend before taking Alex’s hand. "Catch you later..." She followed Alex out of the party hall.

As they left, David smiled bitterly at their departure. He turned to search for everyone else in the room, but he could only see the staff starting to clean up the area.

"Wait, where are my parents? Did they leave here?" David muttered in panic as he reached for his cell phone to call his father.

...

This was not Aurora’s first visit to this house; she grew up in this house and visited Alex’s bedroom on the third floor every day.

Alex enjoyed having the entire floor to himself while his parents and Grandpa occupied the downstairs.

When they stepped into the elevator heading to the third floor, Aurora gently withdrew her hand from Alex’s grasp.

Alex’s eyes revealed a mix of surprise and annoyance as he watched their hands part ways.

Noticing his displeased expression, Aurora promptly said, "Alex, no one here. We can stop pretending now."

Alex smiled and turned his gaze back to the elevator door.

"There’s CCTV in this elevator, behave!" He said calmly.

Aurora chuckled upon hearing his words.

"CCTV? Co on, you know there’s no CCTV in this elevator..." Her sentence abruptly stopped when she realized her mistake, almost revealing that she knew this house despite having just visited it for the first ti.

Aurora was venting her frustration in her mind for the umpteenth ti, nearly exposing herself.

Now, she could only hope that Alex would overlook her sentence. However, her hope was, of course, dashed.

"Huh!? How did you figure out there was no CCTV here?" He raised an eyebrow, looking at the girl next to her in bewildernt.

"Ding!"

The sound of the arriving elevator rescued Aurora. Once the elevator doors opened, she quickly exited, leaving Alex behind.

She pretended to be amazed by the vast open space, which felt like a luxurious hotel lobby.

The room appeared clean and well-kept despite Alex no longer living there. The staff cared for the house well and placed fresh flowers in various spots.

"Wow, Alex, this place is vast and beautiful. Are you occupying this whole floor alone?" she asked, glancing over at him.

He stood rely a few steps ahead of her, causing her to feel anxious once more.

"Aurora, you haven’t answered yet," he said with a faint smile, crossing his arms over his chest as he watched for her reaction.

"How do you know there’s no CCTV there? Why do I feel like you’ve been to this place before?"

’Oh no! I’m really in trouble now!’ Aurora inwardly expressed her frustration while struggling to find the words to respond.

"I’m assuming since I didn’t see any caras there," she responds to him after thinking it through.

"You are such an observer, huh!?"

"Yes, that’s just who I am. I enjoy observing everything around . You know, my hobby is watching detective movies," She answered him casually.

"You are truly fascinating, Aurora." Alex wished to express that, yet the words caught in his throat. All he managed was, "I see..."

"Alex, can you show your room? I need to take off my..." Aurora said, running her fingers through her fake hair. "I’m uncomfortable using this wig and want to check my bandage."

"I apologize, I forgot," Alex gestured for her to co along. "We’ll use that room. No need to worry; there’s a sofa in there. I can sleep on the sofa while you..."

Alex abruptly stops speaking when he notices the room contains just a bed and so essential bedroom items, but no sofa.

’Why did they bring out the sofa?’ He thought confusedly while closing the door behind him.

He recalled a three-seater sofa in the room during his last visit. The corner was empty and clean as if nothing had been there before.

Not only was Alex confused, but Aurora was too. Her hands clenched tensely as her gaze fell on the queen-size bed in the middle of the room.

’God, is this one of the Old Master’s plans? Making sure we sleep in the sa bed?’ Thinking about sharing the bed with Alex, she instantly feels her face grow warm.

"Aurora, it seems we..." Alex once more lost his words when he saw her blushing.
