Alvin found the courage to speak when he noticed Alex’s expression, which no longer reflected his passiveness after he ntioned Aurora was at the Stardust Restaurant.

"Sir, it’s ti to head ho. While your wife may not directly ask you, she often inquires with Martin and Josh about your return."

Upon hearing Alvin’s words, Alex’s annoyance resurfaced swiftly.

"Alvin, you can go back to your office; I still have another online eting," Alex said sternly as he returned to his desk.

"Sir, I apologize if I appear to be prying into your private matters..." Alvin walked behind Alex to his desk. He chose not to head back to his office.

Alvin paused at Alex’s desk and said, "Josh ntioned that Lady Boss celebrated her graduation at the restaurant with Renata Prescott since she had no one at ho to share her joy with."

"And sir, you ntioned that you were waiting for her graduation before you could return ho... I believe this is the right ti to return, right, sir?" Alvin feels tense as he waits for Alex to respond.

"And why should I care about that?" Alex wanted to voice it, but the words lingered at the tip of his tongue. Instead, he simply stated, "Alvin, I know what I’m doing and what to do next. You can go now..."

"Yes, Sir..." Alvin bowed slightly without another word before leaving.

Once Alvin closed the door, Alex exhaled deeply, shut his laptop, and rubbed his forehead. He wasn’t scheduled for an online eting; that was rely an excuse to send Alvin out of his office.

He did not plan to return ho for now because every ti he saw his new wife, mories of his late personal assistant, Aurora Moon, filled his heart and mind.

Alex was unsure if he could control his emotions when he saw her.

Avoiding his new wife might help soothe his emotions and protect the innocent girl from being affected by his unwarranted aloofness.

Or, he didn’t want to confuse the girl when he uncontrollably vented his longing for Aurora Moon onto the innocent girl.

He never ant to hurt that innocent girl, so it was kinder to give her so space.

...

Alex was unsure how long he had been sitting in his chair, gazing at the sky as it gradually transford in color. As night drew near, he remained perplexed about his next steps.

This situation was even more challenging than managing a billions of dollar business, leaving him frustrated.

Before long, the buzz of his cell phone filled the air, gently interrupting the quiet.

Hurriedly, Alex turned to see his cell phone on the table, and his expression darkened when he saw his mother’s na on the screen.

This was the first ti Sophia Morisson had called Alex since they last t at Aurora Moon’s funeral.

’What does she want this ti?’ Alex vented his frustration inwardly, reluctant to answer the call.

After gazing at his phone screen for a mont longer, mories of Aurora scolding him for neglecting his mother’s calls gradually ca to mind.

His heart sank as he rembered his promise to never disregard his mother’s calls. Even though he felt disinterested, Alex picked up the phone.

"Hello, Mother..." Alex greeted faintly, his gaze radiating annoyance.

"Alex, I’m sorry, dear, if I disturbed your work ti," Sophia Morisson’s soft voice ca from the other end.

"It’s alright, Mother. What is it?" Alex inquired.

As always, his tone lacked enthusiasm when he received a call from his mother, knowing it would revolve around marriage and children.

"Thank goodness... Mom felt uneasy about reaching out during work hours like this," Sophia laughed joyfully, finally speaking to her son directly instead of using her secretary or assistant.

Alex sighed silently. He didn’t know why, but he already felt exhausted and had a headache.

"My son... I just want to remind you to fulfill your promise to us."

Alex clutched his phone firmly. "Promise?" he questioned. Caught up in work and the many challenges he had recently encountered, he found it hard to recall his promise to his family.

"Oh dear, I can sense it. You must have forgotten..." Sophia sighed heavily and said, "My dear son, you promised to bring your new wife to your Grandpa’s birthday celebration. I truly hope you keep that promise to us..."

At that mont, Alex couldn’t help but feel frustrated as he reflected on the conversation with his parents. It truly upset him how they planned his engagent with a new woman, making it seem like he had no choice but to agree to their request.

"Alex? My son... are you still there?" Sophia panicked after waiting a few seconds, but no words ca from the other end.

"I’m here!" Alex responded briefly.

Hurriedly, Sophia continued, "Alex, don’t try to lie to us about being married. You’re just making excuses to avoid engaging with Heather. Right!?"

She still hoped her son would agree to marry Heather Green. Only that woman could match her son in every aspect—she was beautiful, bright, rich, and ca from a respectable family.

Alex exhaled deeply before replying, "I rember."

Sophia’s relieved laughter heightened the ache in Alex’s head.

"Okay, I’ll be waiting for you and my daughter-in-law on Sunday. And, my son, if you deceive about your wife, I will be upset with you."

Alex was too annoyed to respond. He stayed silent, wishing his mother would end the call.

However, his hope was shattered when his mother’s following words echoed from the other end:

"Oh, my son, I hope you take this matter seriously. And let remind you again, if you lie about your marriage, I will arrange your marriage with Heather Green!"

Sophia quickly added, not letting her son speak, "Her family has contacted several tis about the arrangent, Alex. We can’t overlook this; we must strengthen our family na and influence in this country, and they can help!"

"I will bring my wife ho. I’m sorry, but I need to work now," Alex said, ending the call before Sophia could respond.

Alex leaned back in his CEO chair and closed his eyes before texting Alvin to prepare a car. He had no choice but to return ho.
