December!
It was the first day of December when autumn officially arrived in the city.
In the last few days, Aurora has been busy in the office.
However, she is a bit more relaxed today because she has focused solely on preparing for Alex’s business trip, as he has an important eting in Lunox City.
Aurora will fly with him this ti, and they plan to stay overnight since it’s the weekend. She is really looking forward to this trip, and as Alex said, it can be counted as part of their honeymoon.
She didn’t know what he was up to, but she knew he had arranged sothing special for them since he told her not to book anything in Lunox City.
"Aurora, is it alright if I co in?"
Aurora was surprised to hear Patrick’s voice coming from behind the door. She looked up and let him in.
Seeing the stress in Patrick’s gaze, Aurora realized sothing was troubling him.
"What happened, Patrick? Why do you look like soone has just ruined your day?" she asked, standing up from her seat and gesturing for him to join her in the seating area.
"I need your help, Aurora!" Patrick’s voice was more urgent, reflecting his stress even more clearly.
"What kind of help?"
Doubt flickered in Patrick’s eyes. He hesitated to discuss this with Aurora, but Alex urged him to be open with her about any problems he was currently facing.
"Patrick, I’m quite busy at the mont. If you prefer to sit in silence, feel free, but I’ll continue my work..."
"Aurora, Alex ntioned that you are acquainted with the skilled hacker, Zee?" he said, not letting Aurora continue her work.
Aurora was shocked to learn that. She had no idea Alex had inford Patrick despite her warning him not to ntion anything for now.
"Yes. Do you need sothing?" Aurora asked with a relaxed smile, feeling she could no longer avoid this.
Patrick nods quickly, "I didn’t know if you had heard this from Alex. But Alex and I plan to hire Zee as our backup consultant..."
Aurora nearly laughed at Patrick’s explanation.
Clearly, she was aware of it because she was Zee. She had already received that offer from Alex. However, she hadn’t made any decisions since Alex stopped trying to hire Zee once he learned her true identity as Aurora Moon.
"Nope, I never heard from Alex about it. Why do you ask about her?" she casually asked, trying to mask her expression as she was not entirely honest with him.
Patrick sighed deeply before ntioning that Zee had not responded to his texts despite his effort to reach her. He was concerned that their bussiness rival might have recruited Zee.
"So, you wanted to reach out to Zee?"
"Yes. Yes... Please... Perhaps if you reach out to her, she might be open to accepting our offer." Patrick’s eyes shine with joy.
He believes that if Aurora Moon were still with them, Zee wouldn’t decline. However, things have changed, and he hopes Aurora Spencer can assist them, too.
"Patrick, I’ve had the chance to work with Zee a few tis, but I wouldn’t say we’re very close yet."
Patrick’s bright smile vanished in an instant. Disappointnt flickered in his eyes, prompting Aurora to continue her sentence imdiately.
"But don’t worry, I’ll speak with her and try to persuade her. Just don’t set your expectations too high." She smiled, noticing the smile reflected in Patrick’s gaze.
"Absolutely, Aurora," Patrick replied with a nod. "I will await your news. Whatever it would be. Be it good or bad, I will appreciate it greatly."
Aurora smiled brightly, feeling a wave of amusent as she imagined Patrick’s shocked expression if he found out she was Zee.
’Should I accept it now?’ she pondered.
She was already excited to accept their offer, and earning a little extra money would be wonderful. "Anything you need from ?"
"No, I just wanted to ask you about that. I won’t take up any more of your ti right now." Patrick stood up with a smile and excused himself.
After Patrick left the room, Aurora took a mont to stay on the sofa.
She was lost in her own thoughts, reflecting on her identity as Zee, a part of herself she had been hiding for so long, because it was her retirent plan. If one day she gains her freedom, she will only work underground under that na.
But now, everything has changed with what happened to her new life.
’Rory, it looks like you should be truthful with Alex soon...’ She smiled and rose from the sofa to organize everything at her desk before they headed to the airport three hours later.
...
When Aurora approached Alex’s office to leave for the airport, she was surprised to see Josh just coming out of it.
"Josh... Why are you here?" Aurora asked, confused.
Since Josh was no longer her personal bodyguard, he rarely showed up around her, especially in this office.
"Boss Alex just told the business trip was canceled because sothing happened at the main house."
Josh gave a slight nod and left; his response was leaving Aurora without a chance to ask anything.
’Cancel? Why wasn’t I inford about that?’ Aurora murmured as she swiftly entered Alex’s room. She was taken aback to find his expression clouded as if a storm was brewing within him.
Since the incident when he confronted his grandpa, Alex has never returned to the main house or spoken about them. He seems to have completely cut ties with them.
She approaches his desk. "Alex... what happened?"
Only then does Alex notice her presence. He ended the call and looked up to et her gaze. "Rory, we have to cancel the business trip..."
Aurora was stunned. She knew Alex rarely canceled his business trips in the past, so why is he doing it now?
"Cancel? The business trip? Why?" she questions, perplexed.
"Dad just called to let know that Grandpa has suddenly passed away."
"W-What..." Aurora was too shocked to say anything more. She feels her knees suddenly grow weak.
