However, Alex’s smile faded when he saw Thomas Moon staring at him without saying anything.
’What do you expect, Alex? Of course, he didn’t hear that! He can’t hear that!’
Alex could only chuckle internally.
After a brief mont, he finally saw Thomas Moon respond to his offer.
"Thank you for your offer, but I cannot accept it!"
Thomas Moon’s response left Alex in disbelief.
’What? He refused? Why?’
Alex didn’t expect this. Earlier, he thought Thomas Moon would agree with him right away.
Taking a mont to gather his thoughts, Alex decided to give it another shot to persuade him.
"Uncle Moon, I’m asking because I really care about you, and I hope you won’t have to go through life alone. Rory will definitely be upset with if that happens..."
Thomas Moon’s silence worried Alex, fearing he might reject his offer.
Alex believed Aurora would be sad if he couldn’t convince her father, and making her sad was the last thing he wanted.
"Uncle, I won’t ask you to move into my ho. But you could live in Rory’s house. It’s empty, and I’m sure Rory would be glad to have you there for a bit."
Alex feels relieved, rembering that reason. How could he forget?
"Rory’s house...?"
Thomas’s voice trembled as he recalled the cherished mory of his daughter. He had visited her house just once but longed to return and see it again.
Hearing Alex’s offer sohow stirs sothing in Thomas’s heart.
’Should I accept it? Maybe stay there for a few months before considering my next plan?’ Thomas wonders thoughtfully.
"I keep her house exactly as she left it. I ask Martin to clean it every day," Alex spoke again after noticing the emotions in Thomas Moon’s eyes. "Uncle, I hadn’t intended to allow anyone else to live there. However, I would be pleased if you’re willing to move in. I believe Rory would be happy, too."
Thomas Moon was too happy to respond, only nodding in agreent.
Alex’s eyes bead with happiness; finally, his efforts paid off.
"Uncle, you will move in, right?" Alex asked, worried that he probably misunderstood his nod.
"Yes, yes, I agree, young master. I will move in. I will stay there to take care of my daughter’s house."
A smile erged on Thomas’s lips as he answered. There’s no longer a trace of sadness, only a flash of happiness in his eyes.
"Uncle Moon, please call Alex from now on! I am no longer your ’Young Master.’"
There’s a reluctance in Thomas Moon’s expression before he nervously says, "Should I? Really, I can?"
"Absolutely, you need to start calling that, Uncle!" Alex insists. How could his father-in-law refer to him as a young master?
"Alright. If you insist, I will try."
The corner of Alex’s lips lifted into a faint smile as he heard his words.
"Uncle, it’s ti to start packing! After that, we can head over to my house together."
Alex can’t wait any longer for this opportunity. Get him out of this damn place!
"N-Now?"
Thomas was shocked. He didn’t expect to leave this house right now.
"Yes. I can’t allow you to stay here alone. Your safety is essential to , uncle."
Thomas agreed with Alex. Learning what Andrew Graystone could do worried him about staying here. He quickly rushed to his bedroom to pack essential items.
...
As Thomas Moon occupied himself with packing, Alex took the opportunity to call Aurora.
Standing in the corner by the glass window, he smiled upon hearing her cheerful voice greet him.
"Hey Alex, are you still there?"
"Hmm. Rory, you seem busy? I sent a few texts to update you, but you didn’t reply..." Alex casually asked. Still, hearing a deep breath from the other end made him worried.
"No worries! I wasn’t busy at all. Just found my phone after Rena and Danny left."
"Ah, they’ve left the house?" Alex checked his watch; it was only 2 PM, and they had already left. He thought they would stay longer.
"Yes, they just left. Danny has an important eting, and Rena needs to open her restaurant," Aurora quickly reported before asking again about her father’s situation.
Alex shared a little about his conversation with his Grandfather. He also shared her father’s condition, including how Thomas refused to move in with them.
"What? My dad said no? Why? Can you persuade him? Please...." Aurora implored, her voice filled with sadness.
Alex quickly replied, "Don’t be sad. At first, he refused, but when I ntioned he could stay at your house, he was more than happy to agree."
Hearing the relieved laugh from the other end also prompted Alex to chuckle slightly.
"I plan to head ho once he finishes packing; we might arrive in two hours. That way, we can have dinner together..." Alex updated her on a few things before he finally ended the call.
...
As soon as Aurora learned that her father would arrive shortly, she hurried to find Martin and Tina. She needed to ask them to clean up the stone house.
When Aurora arrived at the back kitchen where the staff usually gathered, she was surprised to see more people in the kitchen.
Usually, only Tina and Martin stay in the kitchen in the afternoon for tea. But now, there are also Josh and Drew. Everyone enjoyed their afternoon tea together.
Martin, who spotted her first, imdiately stood and walked toward her.
"Oh, Young Madam is here! What a pleasure to see you here, Ma’am. Is there anything you want to do?" he asked politely, pulling Aurora back from her wandering thoughts.
"Yes, Martin. I’m sorry to interrupt your afternoon tea, but I need you to clean the stone house and prepare the guest bedroom there."
Martin was curious. Since his master and Aurora often spent their ti there, he wished to ask her. However, he never had the opportunity to ask her directly.
"Ma’am, if I may ask, will soone else stay there? Or will you and Master Alex be staying there?"
Aurora smiled at Martin’s puzzled expression.
"It’s not for Alex and . Alex just called a few minutes ago, telling Uncle Thomas Moon would be living there from now on."
Martin and the others were surprised to hear that.
