Daniel grinned proudly.
The truth was, he had enjoyed every second of the attention Anna had given him. Even though the bandage on his right arm made him look like a patient, he felt perfectly capable of doing most things himself.
But why would he?
Not when his wife was fussing over him like this.
Last night had been especially morable.
Anna had helped him change into comfortable clothes because pulling the sleeve over his bandaged arm was "too difficult."
She had carefully placed his plate on the table and fed him when he claid his arm hurt too much to lift the spoon.
Even Mariam had looked amused watching the scene.
Though Daniel knew he looked like an overgrown child, he had enjoyed every ounce of it.
"Honestly," he continued dramatically, stretching slightly on the bed, "I might never recover from this injury."
Anna imdiately turned toward him.
"You better recover quickly."
Daniel placed a hand over his heart.
"Wife, how cruel. Your husband is suffering."
"You are not suffering," Anna replied flatly.
Daniel ignored her and continued speaking like a tragic hero.
"I don’t know how I will survive such a painful recovery."
Anna crossed her arms.
"You slept peacefully the entire night."
"That’s because you were beside ."
She rolled her eyes.
For a mont Daniel simply watched her.
The faint morning light filtered through the curtains, falling softly across her face. Her hair was slightly ssy from sleep, and there was still a hint of worry lingering in her eyes from the previous night.
Daniel’s playful expression softened.
The accident had shaken her more than he realized.
Even now he could see how carefully she watched him, as if making sure he was truly fine.
He reached out with his good hand and gently held her wrist.
Anna looked at him.
"You’re really okay?" she asked quietly.
Daniel nodded.
"I’m fine."
For a second neither of them spoke.
Then Daniel suddenly brightened again.
"But since I am injured," he added casually, "I think I deserve breakfast in bed."
Anna stared at him.
"You just said you were fine."
"Yes," Daniel replied confidently. "Emotionally fine."
Anna sighed deeply, already realizing the next few days were going to be exhausting.
anwhile, Daniel leaned back against the pillow with a satisfied smile.
If this was what recovery felt like, he was in absolutely no hurry to get better.

[Twenty Minutes Later]
Daniel had sohow managed to make himself even more comfortable on the couch while Anna brought him breakfast. The tray rested on the table in front of him, but instead of eating quietly, he was watching his wife with that familiar mischievous grin.
Anna noticed it imdiately.
Whenever Daniel looked at her like that, it usually ant he was about to say sothing ridiculous.
She sighed inwardly.
"How about a shower after so ti?" Daniel suddenly suggested.
Anna froze mid-step.
Slowly, she turned to look at him.
Daniel was still grinning at her.
"You’re asking for too much, husband," she said flatly. "Did you forget that you can’t move your hand because it’s plastered?"
Daniel clicked his tongue dramatically.
"Such a small problem."
Anna narrowed her eyes.
"I would love to feel your hands all over my body," he added shalessly. "Who knows? Maybe that will help recover faster."
Anna stared at him for two seconds.
Then she covered her face with her hand.
"Geez... why are you so shaless, Daniel?" she groaned. "Just shut your mouth and enjoy your rest."
Daniel only chuckled.
"You’re the one who said you wanted to recover quickly."
Anna shook her head in disbelief as she picked up the cup of tea and placed it beside him.
Honestly, she was starting to suspect sothing was wrong.
Maybe the accident had affected his brain.
After all, he had fainted when he was brought to the hospital.
At the ti, the doctor had said it was only due to the shock and minor impact.
But now?
Anna crossed her arms and studied him carefully.
Daniel noticed imdiately.
"Why are you looking at like that?"
Anna leaned slightly closer, inspecting him suspiciously.
"Did you hit your head during the accident?"
Daniel blinked.
"What?"
"You fainted at the hospital," she said seriously. "And now you’re talking complete nonsense."
Daniel looked deeply offended.
"Excuse , I always talk like this."
"That’s exactly my concern."
Daniel placed a hand dramatically over his chest.
"My own wife questioning my ntal stability."
Anna sighed again. "Just eat your breakfast."
Daniel smirked but obediently took a bite.
For a few seconds, the room was quiet, until soone knocked on the door.
Anna and Daniel both turned their heads toward the bedroom door.
A mont later, Mariam stepped inside.
"Madam," she said respectfully, "Mr. Henry is here to see you."
Anna and Daniel exchanged a quick glance.
A faint sense of caution settled between them.
Henry rarely ca to the house this early unless sothing important had happened.
Anna carefully set the breakfast tray aside while Daniel straightened himself from the couch.
"We’ll co down," Daniel said.
Within a few minutes, they both headed downstairs together.
Henry was already waiting in the living room, standing near the center table with a file in his hand. The mont he saw them approaching, he imdiately stood straighter.
"Good morning, boss. Madam."
"You ca quite early," Daniel said calmly.
Henry nodded, though his expression looked unusually serious.
"I’m sorry to interrupt your rest, boss," he said. "But this was urgent."
Anna felt a slight tension settle in her chest.
Sothing about Henry’s tone was different.
Daniel noticed it too.
"What happened?" he asked.
Henry hesitated for a second before placing the file on the table.
"There has been an update regarding the accident last night."
Daniel’s gaze sharpened instantly.
"Go on."
Henry opened the file slowly.
"The police found the driver who ramd your car."
Anna instinctively leaned slightly closer.
"Where?" she asked.
Henry inhaled slowly before answering.
"In an alley near a bar downtown."
Daniel’s eyes narrowed.
"And?"
Henry looked up at them.
"He’s dead."
