Daniel wasted no ti and surged into her without warning, driven by raw desire and the fear of losing her.
The drug’s effect was not strong, but Anna’s moans, soft and unrestrained, were enough to push him beyond reason as they echoed through the call.
He tugged her top upward and cupped her breast, kneading it slowly while he continued to move against her, each thrust deeper than the last.
Neither of them realized that he had not used protection, lost as they were in the intensity of the mont, until Daniel finally collapsed against her, breathless and spent.
It took them so ti to calm down.
Daniel wrapped his arms around her, holding her close like sothing precious he never wanted to let go of with his head resting on her chest.
Anna on the other hand responded by gently caressing his head, her fingers threading through his hair as they lay together in quiet warmth, and soon the sleep took over them.
It was only when a sharp pain shot through her neck that Anna finally stirred awake.
"My goodness, I think I broke my neck," she muttered, trying to shift her position. The attempt was useless. A heavy weight pressed against her, completely unmoved, despite the lingering warmth and sweat between them.
She frowned. "Is he dead or sothing? Why isn’t he moving?"
Gathering what little strength she had, Anna tried to push Daniel away. Instead of waking properly, he only burrowed closer, burying his face against her chest and letting out a low groan before settling back into sleep as if nothing in the world could disturb him.
Anna stared at the ceiling in disbelief, her hand hovering in the air before dropping back. "Unbelievable," she whispered, half amused, half exasperated.
Anna sighed and poked his shoulder. Nothing.
She poked him again, harder this ti. "Daniel, if you’re planning to suffocate , at least have the decency to warn ."
He responded by tightening his arm around her waist, pulling her even closer. His face remained buried against her, his breath warm and steady. "Five more minutes," he mumbled sleepily.
Her eyes widened. "Five more minutes? I can’t feel my neck, and you want five more minutes?"
She tried wriggling free, but it only made him shift again, his leg tangling with hers. Anna groaned. "You’re heavy. Do you work out just to torture ?"
Daniel humd in response, clearly pleased even in his sleep. "You like like this," he murmured.
"Oh, I most certainly do not," she shot back, even though a smile tugged at her lips. She brushed her fingers through his hair, intending to wake him properly, but the mont she did, he relaxed further, almost purring.
Anna rolled her eyes. "Great. I married a human weighted blanket."
Finally, his eyes cracked open, dark and lazy as they t hers. A slow grin spread across his face. "Good morning, wifey."
She scoffed. "Good morning? You nearly crushed ."
He lifted himself just enough to kiss her forehead, still clearly unwilling to move. "Then stay still," he said smugly. "You’re comfortable."
She laughed softly, shaking her head. "Unbelievable."
But she didn’t push him away again.
"We are inside the car, Daniel. And I can’t move my neck."
That was when it hit him.
Daniel jolted upright, eyes widening as he took in their surroundings. The cramped space, the awkward angle, Anna’s stiff posture. mory rushed back all at once, and guilt followed imdiately.
"I’m sorry," he said quickly, pulling away and sitting up properly. "I completely forgot."
He helped her sit upright with careful hands, his earlier drowsiness gone in an instant. Anna winced as she shifted, a sharp ache running through her neck while the rest of her body felt unpleasantly numb.
"I think I sprained sothing," she muttered, testing her shoulder and imdiately regretting it.
Daniel cursed under his breath. Despite his lean fra, he was strong, and he slipped an arm around her carefully, supporting her weight so she did not strain herself further.
"Ouch. I really can’t move," Anna hissed, glaring at him. "You nearly paralyzed your wife."
He winced. "I swear, if you start walking around with a neck brace, I’ll never forgive myself."
She huffed, though her lips twitched. "Good. You shouldn’t."
Daniel adjusted her gently, his voice soft now. "Stay still. I’ve got you."
And this ti, he ant it literally.

[An hour later]
"Feeling better?" Daniel asked, pressing a gentle kiss to Anna’s nape as they stepped out of the bathroom together.
The warm bath had helped ease the tension in her muscles, though a faint soreness still lingered.
"Hm... better," she admitted, then added pointedly, "but next ti, no sex in the car. It’s wildly uncomfortable."
Daniel nodded with exaggerated seriousness before leaning in to place a quick peck on her lips. "Noted."
Once Anna was dressed, she turned to face him. The playfulness faded just slightly as she saw the look in his eyes.
"Do you want to talk?" he asked softly.
She did not hesitate. She never did with him. Whatever existed between them did not allow for half-truths or silence.
"Truthfully..." Anna began, holding his gaze. Her voice was steady, though her thoughts drifted to what she had learned from Shawn the other day, the unease settling quietly in her chest.
She took a slow breath. "There’s sothing I need to ask you."
Daniel did not look surprised. If anything, he seed prepared, as though he had been waiting for this mont. Whatever was running through Anna’s mind, he already sensed it.
"Go on," he said, eting her gaze without flinching. His voice was calm and reassuring, the kind that promised honesty. "You can ask anything."
Anna studied his face for a heartbeat before speaking. "Collin Fort," she said carefully. "How do you know him?"
Shawn’s words echoed faintly in her mind, along with the information he had uncovered while digging through Daniel’s records. She already knew part of the answer. What she wanted now was to hear it from Daniel himself.
