"What? Again?" Chen Wenling stood up in fright and shock.

Gao Yang was surprised by her reaction, as he stood up with her.

"What is wrong?" He blurted out the question, before slapping his forehead. She was not going to respond as she was still on the phone.

"What have you done this ti around?" Chen Wenling questioned. She was fed up with him, now, she was aware that he wanted her to bail to him.

"I was caught stealing?" He replied in a lowered voice, feeling ashad of himself, or rather, because he was caught.

"Stealing? I thought we agreed that this was not going to happen again, then why a case for stealing?" Chen Wenling was irate as she yelled at him.

With her words, Gao Yang seed to have gotten the gist about what was going on.

In plain terms, Chen Mikong had stolen, got caught, in jail, now he wants his sister to bail him out. Gao Yang was angry for her sake. He had never seen such a self-entitled brat in his entire life, and he felt disgusted with him.

More so, he felt bad for Chen Wenling, having to deal with such a bratty brother was going to be ntally and emotionally exhausting. He admired her for being able to put up with him.

"Chen Wenling, you have to help your brother, the lady he stole from is determined to pursue this matter, and the police seem to be scared of her," Chen Wenling suddenly heard a voice, one which she dreaded the most, it was the voice of her mother.

"How do you expect

to convince the victim when she has already decided to pursue the matter? Have you forgotten that I am just a puny employee?" Chen Wenling was amused by her mother’s reasoning.

Gao Yang gestured to put the phone on speaker mode, he wanted to listen to what she had to say, and Chen Wenling complied.

"It is easy, the lady wants him to kneel and apologize to her, but that would be damaging to Mikong’s reputation, so I," her mother paused., not knowing how to complete her statent.

"So you would like

to take Mikong’s place and kneel," Chen Wenling helped her complete the statent with a sour tone.

"Yes, surely that would not be too hard for you, right?" Her mother was hopeful, but Wenling had lost all hope for her mother.

She was speechless, having nothing to say.

"If you love your son so much, why don’t you kneel to the lady, and apologize on your son’s behalf since he was the one who caused the mistake?" Gao Yang could not hold himself back as he collected the phone from Chen Wenling, and lashed out at her mother.

"Chen Wenling, who the hell is that? That sounds like a man, why are you with a man?" Her mother questioned.

"You do not need to know who I am, you just need to be aware of the fact that Wenling will not be the sacrificial lamb for your son," Gao Yang did not give her the chance to say anything before he hung up.

"Good riddance to rubbish," he was angry, angry at the fact that she was treated that way, he was also angry that she was unable to defend herself properly.

"Why don’t you ever defend yourself from them? Will you allow them to treat you like you were a rag ?" Gao Yang was frustrated with her demure attitude.

"I also wish to stand up against them, but it is hard," Chen Wenling did not need to be told twice.

She left the living room and walked towards the dining room, her hands folded as she looked up to the ceiling.

Gao Yang walked to her, he spun her such that she would face him.

She looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears, "are you sure of that? You always stay by my side, and you will not treat

At first, she did not understand what he was trying to do, but now, she gets it completely.

Seeing her show up, they would think she had agreed to do what she asked, when in fact, she was there to cut off ties with them.

"But I am scared, do you think it is appropriate to cut off my relationship with them? At the end of the day, they are still my family by blood?" She asked again, she only needed to untie the knots in her heart.

"I understand how you feel, but for how long would this go on? It is better to end it," he explained to her, and she nodded in return.
